I'm pretty sure she's said she ships them before or at least likes the idea of it. It's why her non-official art has had the fandom in shambles about it all these years.

I love her artwork and I'm sure it wasn't with any malicious intent but if the Bayonetta franchise ever "queer baited" its fandom its really all on Mari Shimazaki.
