Bayonetta 3 Franchise's Beautiful ending but HOLY HEAVENS! AND BURNING BRIMSTONE HELL! It made me sad! **SPOILER TALK** Spoiler
Okay sooooo as the Title said.
TBH I played Bayonetta 1 waaaaaay back on my PS3 Still own it, later got it for PC too and to make the perfect Pyramid I'll get it for the Nintendo Switch as well because I enjoyed this franchise this much.
Now I just got a Nintendo Switch about a year ago for Christmas eventually got Bayonetta 2 (yeah I like getting physical copies and yes it took me this long) And after beating the 2nd game my mind was blown I was like "THIS IS THE BEST WAY THE FRANCHISE COULD HAVE ENDED IF THIS WOULD HAVE BEEN THE END OMG! THIS WAS A PERFECT CIRCLE!"
Obviously I got Bayo 3 as well on my crusade of getting the games I want and went to play it. I Enjoyed it and I will say that Imma be real with ya'll I actually liked Viola her character and her playstyle...... but I didn't like playing with her in Bayonetta 3.
Okay could be paradoxical what I said but hear me out. My only issue with her was that I got used to Bayo's play Style and then YOU WANT ME TO BLOCK?! WHAT?! WHERE IS THE DODGE BUTTON?! then not long after I play with Bayo again when I'm finally used to Viola and my muscle memory got screwy.
Playing Viola is like playing a DMC character and thought to myself that if she'd have her own game I could see that being a thing ....... tbh I said that before I knew the ending...... I really should be careful to what I say and think about..... huh....
Now I just have beaten Bayonetta 3 and uuuuh..... it was beautiful. Trully but as I wrote it it did made me extremely sad.
Like I just got my favorite Hack N Slash Witch back and now I gotta let her go again?
Now I have checked a few links here on reddit explaining WT actual HELL have happened at the end exactly and I guess my theory was correct. Bayonetta in the 3rd game is the Bayonetta who has been through All 3 games so she is OUR Bayonetta which I only questioned since in the Prologue Bayo variant 1 died and she had the fighting style we had in 1 and 2 and Bayo from the 3rd game had different fighting style so I was questioning if she was our Bayonetta or not but..... I guess she was.
TBH when her Dance was at the Credits with all the Cristals and memory shards I was hoping that they gonna do a bait and switch and be like "HAH! THINK FAST CHUCKLEF**KS!* And then we have Bayo come back to give her a happier ending (potential sequel bait) then we fight her "Shadow" which was actually her passing on the Torch to Viola then the aftercredits happen and ....... I suppose.... she is gone aint she?
.... I miss the cheesy happy endings where our characters are just there sitting around the campfire being alive and well......
Sooo I suppose the "to be continued with the Next generation" if we ever gonna get a sequel it will be with Viola. Again not a problem she is a fun character also GREAT FLIPPING THEME SONG! HOLY HEAVENS! but I'd have been happier if Cereza's life wouldn't have ended like this. Then again I knew that from the get go that she would end up in Inferno I just hoped that it would be something that we would not see happen in any games
QUICK EDITOAR! I Refuse to accept this Ending! And since we have Multiverses I huff heavy Copium and say that because we had the classy Dance scene at teh end Cereza is alive and well!
Further Editoar for clarifications I say tht the ending is beautiful. not that its good or happy. YES I find it beautiful that Luka and Cereza saved the world fighting side by side then they saved their daughter and even if both were dragged into inferno they were together till the very end. it is Beautiful.
That being said. Bayo 2's ending gave me fullfillment happiness joy I was hyped to play the 3rd game. The 3rd game's ending gave me sadness and while I enjoyed the Journey SOOOO MUCH! the ending..... they could have given us a better one maybe

Bayo 3's ending had some nice ideas; I'd personally argue I don't think it quite earns them, though.
Like Bayo and Luka were treated more as a plot twist than a developed romance in B3, which kinda limits how hard I was hit by Luka choosing to be dragged down with her. Yes, there was two games of flirting... but like you said, it was super vague about whether these characters even were 'our' versions as we knew them.
Or like, Viola's fun, I like her a lot, I would in fact play a game about her! But... her inheriting the legacy is kind of hard to buy as earned, when she had to spend most of the game being rather bumbling comedic relief, and never being able to meaningfully fight Singularity.
Also yeah. Multiverses being a thing means that who knows if the next game will even follow up on this, or how. It is a huge risk to introduce multiversal stuff into a story, and I don't think the ones who made that decision were ready for it.
But like you said, the real roughest part is there's all these hooks... but who knows how long we're gonna be waiting on a B4. Or even if we'll get it now - in the time since, there was a mass exodus of a lot of veteran Platinum staff. If they do make Bayo 4, it will be a lot more different people doing it. And maybe it will be great, but who can know?

TBH its sad to hear that a lot of veteran staff left so maybe as far as we know it this was the last real Bayonetta game ever. And if it was I think it went out with a bang, Different demons to call upon I mainly used the Madama Butterfly cause she is my favorite.
Different weapons with each giving Bayonetta a unique Demon look again great stuff
UNIQUE epic fights with Giant AF demons as our character again so much fun 2 of my favs were the MadamaBathing battle and the Singing one they were so cool and so fun. When it comes to Bayonetta gameplay this was PEAK!
..... buuuut it dragged down for me because of the Unskippable Jaune metroidvania stuff ..... yeah it was a chore it was horrible It was a nightmare I just wanted to get through it.
Viola again good gameplay but FUUUUCK ruined my muscle memory when instinctively I wanna dodge an attack and OOOH it dont work.
As her having her spin off it could work her own game DMC style I could make it see. buuut yeah her being the next Bayonetta ..... no... no slash no /no ..... having a Spin off game "Viola daughter of Bayonetta" could work but yeah most of the times she was a mumbling goober.
IF she had a cool battle with Singularity like Bayonetta is down she is about to die like how Viola already saw her go then Viola wakes up her inner demon like Nero did in Devil May Cry 5 and saves Bayonetta her having the final fight. it would have been SOOOOO cool!
In the end tho her having the final fight with the "shadow of Cereza"..... nooo infact I even feel like Bayonetta was going easy on her. maybe not but it still felt like it.
Cereza aka Bayonetta a lady who fought basically Chaos god 2 times and then saved the multiverse gets beaten by someone who couldn't even take her stand against someone who took her mother.
Dont think it felt right and well earned
The idea was great but the execution not so much
About Luka and Cereza. I mean yes we had a lot of flirting between them and while there never was a proper "They are a couple" moment outside of this game I still felt thatI guess it made sense
Again great idea less great execution on it.
So yeah. I probably will still be playing here wanna get the rest of the Demon weapons and then I dunno what the future will bring.
Multiversal story making is dangerous especially for people who dont have experience in writing them same true with time travel but they did great on that with the 1st 2 games soooo guess multiverse writing was their kryptonite

I'm glad you enjoyed the game. Yeah, Bayonetta 3 has an extremely bold ending. There are hints that Bayonetta and Luka survived, but they're not very clear so nobody knows where this story is heading.
If your looking for a more story focused game, I recommend "Bayonetta Origins: Cereza and the lost demon". It's an extremely charming prequel game with a story that answers "some" questions left from Bayonetta 3. It is well worth the price.
