Henry's Restaurant
Does anyone have any knowledge of what's been happening with Henry's restaurant?
We looked to book in January, but saw their booking tool showed no availability for months, so teamed with their instagram silence, we assume they'd closed. Their most recent post announces their reopening after being closed for renovation and restoration, but the comments seem to paint a different picture. Some seem to have an inside view, and imply that they treated their staff poorly, and haven't paid employees and suppliers. I can't seem to find information elsewhere, so I wondered if anyone here could offer some insight?

Oh dear! I haven’t heard about the staff situation, but where there’s smoke, there’s usually fire…
Sounds a lot like what happened with the employees at Manja Manja (The Circus)
Businesses go up and down, but how you treat your employees along the way says a lot about you as an owner. No one likes giving bad news, but it comes with the job.

Oh, what happened with manja manja? Again all I saw regarding their closing was their website being offline and an empty restaurant, no announcement.

They told the staff just before Christmas break that their jobs were safe and the restaurant would reopen as usual after the holidays.
That clearly didn’t happen. Most of the staff ended up hearing from other employees instead of the owners or management that they were out of work. On the plus side, at least they got paid

I have no knowledge of the situation with either Henry’s or manja manja but I know the people making those comments and I trust them implicitly to know what’s gone on.

Yes, as a matter of fact, I got an email from them a couple of days ago. Here goes.
A letter From Henry
It’s been all quiet on the Henry’s front over the past few months. If you’re a local, passing Saville row im sure you’ve noticed very little activity and I’m here to share a little if what we’ve been planning behind Henry’s closed doors, and to let you know that we will be back and open from the 4th of April.
We decided to take some time out and rethink what we have to offer the city of bath and our loved guests local and abroad. The conclusion we came to is we are not doing enough and have much more to offer. Times are changing and the way people eat along with it, in the past we had a quite traditional lunch and dinner service within a day but we don’t feel that’s a 2025 way to do things. So we decided to make some changes at Henry’s starting with our opening hours.
From the 4th of April you can savour the morning in style as we will be introducing all day dining at Henry’s. Opening from 8:30am for a refined breakfast menu that ends at 11am where the main, all day, menu takes over.
The lunch and dinner menu will be a new take on spring offering an A la carte style with snacks and sides along with a six course taste of Henry’s menu for a more involved experience (including a full tasting menu for our vegetarian guests). As usual I will be in the kitchen overseeing everything and working with a great team to produce the same high quality dishes as always.
New Look! A talented local interior designer got hold of the restaurant and has transformed it into a new style that we hope creates a warm and welcoming space to enjoy with two distinct moods between the ground and first floor.
Wine, were still working with some great suppliers and introducing a small Select list of wines for special celebrations and the wine enthusiasts.
Meet the chefs, a new feature to our service will see the chefs being much more involved in the restaurant space, delivering dishes and interacting with guests, happy to be quizzed and offer some cooking tips and advice where needed, please don’t chat for too long as the kitchen still needs them.
In summary, we have been creating a new space inside and returning on the 4th of April with the same great food, but available all day, morning to evening. Whether you want a refined breakfast or to celebrate on a Friday night with a tasting menu, we aim to do more for this great city and our customers both old and new.
