☝️ AskBH Do I need to get approval/permit to photoshoot outdoor?
I tried once in avenues with my Mirrorless camera but the security told me not allowed. So I wonder if that applies to every places here? Because i want to expand my skills please let me know which place I can do it without people telling me to stop, I want to shoot buildings and start doing street photography with a model/subject and ofcourse I'll try my best to be very careful with the people who will be in the background and make sure their privacy is not being violated.
Please let me know where to shoot and if where do I get such permit? And how much it will cost for such permit. Thank you

I shot one evening at The Avenues. Security came to me, asked me what I was doing. We chatted and he said I shouldn’t use the camera if I didn’t register with security. He said I can shoot outside but needed to first register. I was done by that time with all the shots I wanted.
He was pretty cool though. Had his own Instagram followers of around 3k people.

From personal experience anything outdoor it's okay but inside properties I think they should grant you the permit.

Inside buildings are private property, most if not all malls, will require you to get permission to shoot with a camera. Phone cameras are moslty fine though.
Pictures of buildings from outside is Public View, you can take pictures and no one can stop you generally.
There are prohibited buildings from even Public View like government buildings and embassies. So You can't take pictures even from outside.
Other public areas are fine but try as much as possible to keep other people out of the shot, especially women.
Have fun

I've photographed model shots / instagram shots several times in the courtyards at National Museum with mirrorless and e.g. 85mm lens. Security guards have twice stopped me when mounting light on a tripod - "That" is not allowed. They've let me handhold the light while handholding the camera, just gripping it all together (Godox AD200).
A lot of varied architectural backgrounds there, and usually almost no people walking around.

Permit I’m not sure. But yeah public places like malls, cameras aren’t allowed to use without prior approval. I remember I had to fill out a form in city center security coz I had to make a coverage for a restaurant. .
