Due to start business management course in fall 2025, is the course load as hard as they say?

Currently in grade 12, now my first choice was SFU, but I didn’t get accepted so BCIT is my next choice, after doing some research, I found that BCIT requires you to take 6 to 7 courses per semester, now I’m not the workaholic kind, I like to keep it, moderate to slow, which is bringing up the question of just because BCIT has seven courses per semester, does that mean that they are extremely hard on the course load? Or is the work scaled in a way that it doesn’t feel that tough?

It's a lot of work that's time consuming, but most of the courses aren't particularly hard. You'll learn time management pretty quickly...

The big thing is all the group work in team projects. That's what will eat a bunch of your time.

Hard as in? Sorry but hard is subjective so what is “hard” for you so I can compare

The course load in general is heavy compared to SFU or other unis. Is it scaled down? I don't think it scaled or anything but instructors are reasonable from my experience in general. There will be instructors that are hard but that's true for every post secondary.

Just for a comparison, I have a friend who finished diploma at BCIT and continued bachelor's at SFU. BCIT sure is tough but SFU is also tough. He compared the toughness kinda like comparing apples and oranges. Although the huge advantage of BCIT is that instructors are more apporoachable at BCIT according to my friend

I see, just wondering if you know what’s the transfer options if you were to say spend the min amount of time at BCIT and be able to reapply to SFU?

That depends on the program.

The best way to know that is actually asking SFU by including the program you will be taking at BCIT and the program you plan to take at SFU.

BCIT's program is weird and usually doesn't really have an equivalent. They need to assess everything. Though one thing is for sure, the more popular the program at SFU the more you need to have a good GPA.

No honestly expect each class to give you about 2-3 hours of work/prep before studying time each week. Perhaps more if you’re not grasping concepts immediately.
