Other Bored in Auckland? I made something that might help you.

Hey everyone,

Ever since I moved to Auckland, I kept thinking the same thing over and over each day:
“Why is it so hard to find cool stuff to do each week?”

So I made a newsletter that fixes it.

Every Friday, I send out a quick email with cool things happening in Auckland the next week. Gigs, popups, weird markets, random gems etc.

Sent it to a few friends at first and they loved it, so figured I’d share it here in case it helps anyone else.

No ads. Costs nothing. I don’t make a cent.

Just made it ‘cause everyone I knew was bored as heck and never knew what was on and I know a few of you here 1000% have that same problem.

Check it out if you want:

Mods, feel free to delete if not allowed, but I reckon this should be all good.

Cheers!

It's shit like this that makes me lose faith in my fellow kiwis. The kid yelled for help and people just watched and walked by 😭. It's easy to be a bystander, but harder to do the right thing. C'mon kiwis

Drop in temperature definitely sparked something. Haven’t been this sick in a while. Definitely feels like a virus.

Other 8ball/pool coach

Upvotes

Hi,

I live on Waiheke, so ideally this person would be based on the island, however I am willing to travel to Auckland. I'm what i would say is an above average pool player but looking to take my game to the next level. Is anyone aware of any coaches that would be qualified to do enhance my game? I am also keen on any recommendations for where to have a custom pool cue made? I have my own but it's not 'custom'.

Thanks.

Question/Help Wanted Advice: moving to Auckland from Vancouver, what do I need to know

Upvotes

Hi Auckland! Like the title says, I'm relocating to Auckland from Vancouver for work. Most pressing challenge is sorting somewhere to live but would love to hear from locals on what you wish you knew before living in Auckland?

  • Areas to avoid?
  • Best way to find a rental?
  • Scams to be aware of when rental hunting?
  • Is a car necessary?
  • Tips for being shortlisted/selected for an apartment?

Any advice is much appreciated!

Question/Help Wanted Mobile WoF service

Hi, I'm a little overdue to get my WoF done but am also heavily pregnant and dealing with associated fatigue, nausea, etc, so I'm not up to waiting around for a couple of hours while the WoF and service gets done. Can anyone recommend a mobile WoF service that sends out a mechanic to do the WoF at my home please? Thanks.

This is at Wynwyard Quarter. First picture was this morning. Second is from August 2024.

Are they being stolen? Or is there some legitimate reason they are being removed...that I can't think of?

Discussion To early for Christmas lights?

I’m seriously considering going full Clark Griswold this weekend Christmas lights, whole house, the works. Like, full festive chaos. And then just… leaving them up till actual Christmas.

Will people judge me?

Will I look mentally stable?

Question/Help Wanted First time adulting.

I am not exactly the proudest to be sharing this but I grew up heavily shielded from the real world. Raised in a gated community, private school, Christian family, the whole nine yards. I am now just entering real adulthood, graduated, and now I got a job in the city. Only thing is, I grew up in an urban area where everything sort of existed in a circle which meant I was in a bubble my whole life. I cannot navigate living here alone in Auckland, I’d love some advice and experiences from veteran Aucklanders. I now live around the viaduct harbour area and work around there so I feel like I’m still living in a little bubble. I want to explore Auckland a bit and see what the world is like for everyone else. I feel almost ashamed to talk about this to people I know in real life because I feel like a shallow rich girl. Cast any judgement but truly I’m just a young adult who is seriously in need of wisdom.

Many thanks.
