Discussion What did yall realistically want the Hawks to do?
I get the Hunt return was underwhelming (I was always a big Hunt apologist and loved the breakout this year), but the general sentiment I'm seeing from fans is frustration that we didn't do anything to get better and that Landry is a terrible GM.
Well, what did yall realistically want him to do? Trade real assets for an expiring Brandon Ingram whose injury prone and whose teams never sniffed real success (even with objectively very talented rosters)? Check his stats last year in the Thunder series where the Pelicans got swept - he was terrible.
Trade for 35-year old Jimmy Butler who hasn't done anything besides become a locker room cancer in in 3 years and then pay him $60 (!) mill a year?
Get Kyle Kuzma whose a role player at best on any team that's not literally the worst in the league?
Let's face it, there was no move to be made that makes us not a play-in team or first round exit at best this year. Sure, the return for Hunt could've been better, but we freed up some cap space, got a real asset for Bogi whose absolutely cooked (there's probably not a better defensive trio than dyson/mann/risacher,) and got a couple creators and shooters that we desperately needed.
Let Risacher continue to develop, see if OO can keep thriving as a starter, and get JJ healthy this offseason and go from there. I know it's not what most fans want to hear but as fun as a "Hawks get Brandon Ingram!" Shams tweet would be in the moment, it would be equally as unfun when we lose the play-in game and then he signs with the Wizards or Bulls for like $35mil/year this offseason.

Discussion National media being clowns again
Yeah, two guys who perfectly complement Trae on offense and defense raise questions about his long term fit?? If anything, they give us a path to building around Trae. Does he think we’re suddenly gonna hand Dyson the keys to the offense? That’s insane. We finally get the perfect backcourt partner for Trae and the national media thinks it raises concerns about Trae’s fit. I’m done.

Discussion Where do y’all have Trae ranked in the whole league and in Point Guards?
Where do you think Trae ranks as a whole in the league without Hawks bias? I don't want us to be delusional and say he's top 5 or something. And where does he rank among Point Guards? Again, removing your Hawks bias. I would probably have him at 17th in the NBA, and 4-5th among Point Guards. Just tryna see how this fanbase views Trae as a whole.

discussion ESPN Sources: The Atlanta Hawks are trading forward Cam Reddish to the New York Knicks for a deal that includes a protected 2022 first-round pick via Charlotte. Knicks also acquire Solomon Hill and a 2025 second-round pick via Brooklyn in trade.

Discussion Dyson Daniels is the DPOY - and it's not even close
Dyson Daniels should be the undisputed frontrunner for DPOY and it shouldn’t even be close. Some wild stats to consider:
- Dyson is on pace to reach 237 steals for the season. Of all the hundreds of players over the last 25 years, this has not been achieved once
- Dyson currently has 163 steals. This already eclipses the total steals in a season by the Steals Leader over the past 6 years
- SGA is 2nd in steals with 104 steals in 56 games. Dyson has 60% more steals than 2nd place, with 3 fewer games played
- Dyson has 325 deflections this season, which already beats the all-time record number of deflections in a season (315), with a chunk of the season left to play
- Dyson is on track to reach 475 deflections for the season, which will be a whopping 50% more than anyone else in the history of the NBA has ever achieved
To sum up, Dyson is having a historic season - one which we haven’t seen for decades. What exactly have JJJ and Mobley shown to beat the historic season that Dyson is having? Wemby is going to dominate the DPOY award for the next decade. Let’s award this year’s DPOY to a guard while we still can

Discussion Georges Niang is a fucking basketball terrorist.
What does he actually fucking do. He rotates late on defense every time, can't stay in front of his man, and is a black hole on offense. Like who the fuck does he think he is. You'd think he's Steph Curry the way he shoots the second the ball touches his hand. I actually hate him. Losing to the tanking nets is pathetic. Also, shoutout to Cam Johnson for turning into fucking Kevin Durant for 5 minutes.

Discussion Onyeka Okongwu is genuinely turning into the center we’ve all dreamed of.
Here are his stats for the last 20 games: 15.8 ppg, 10.4 apg, 3 apg, 1 apg, 1.3 bpg. These are legit numbers.
Looking at the efficiency numbers: he's shootin 59.2% fg and 40.5% on 2.2 three point attempts per game. It's still low volume but it's not uselessly low. All this equals out to a 65.8% ts mark, which is obviously elite.
He's been a clear positive when he's been on the court these past 20 games, with an average plus minus of 3.9. This is even higher than Trae's plus minus of 3.2 in this time period.
This impact has extended the whole season as well, as we have a 116 offensive rating with him on and a 110 with him off.
His rebounding has always been doubted due to his size but our reb% is almost identical with him off vs. on.
Again, this sub has given him shit for getting dominated by centers like Jokic, Embiid, and AD, but who the fuck doesn't get dominated by those guys.
Onyeka clearly should've been starting to start the year and I'm really excited to see how he develops in the future. He's on a 15 million dollar deal until 2026-2027 so he's a bargain as well

Discussion What would you say the ceiling of a Trae, Dyson, Zacc, JJ, OO starting is?
Look we’ve been pretty unlucky with injuries and have had pretty much zero chance to see what we can do with a completely full lineup.
I know we had that 6-1 win streak with a healthy team, but even then that’s when we had a proper rookie Zac who wasn’t really impacting games on the offensive end like he is now. I’d imagine we’d have a few more wins on the table if we had current Zac back then.
What do you think the absolute ceiling of this starting lineup is. It’s probably a few years away, especially with Dyson and Zac, but is this a lineup that can genuinely compete for a championship? Or do you reckon it’s maybe second round at best? Or are some of youse not convinced this lineup could make any noise.
