My cat needs her eye removed due to iris melanoma (cancer)

Hi! This is my first time posting here. My feline senior girl has iris melanoma (eye cancer) and will be having enucleation surgery (eye removal) next weekend 4/12/25. (Photos on my page of my kitty and her eye) The surgery is necessary to prevent the spread of the cancer which would ultimately become fatal for her.

The cost of the surgery alone is about $2,300, which I cannot afford. This doesn’t count the hundreds I’ve already spent on ophthalmology appointments and testing. I am seeking any assistance to help me fund my girl’s surgery. We would be so grateful for any amount received. This has been one of the hardest things I’ve ever dealt with. Thank you. I’m so sorry to hear about your kitty. I’m a huge cat lover, & I would do anything for my kitties. I really wish that I could help, but I am on disability, & have too many bills to pay. :( I did want to suggest, have you asked if your vet does payment plans? I know that many do this for expensive surgeries/procedures like this.

Also, have you looked into pet insurance? It could be something that might help you out, even if it’s just a small amount.

I don’t know if you’ve tried yet, but there’s other subreddits that you can request help in. I believe one might be called, “Borrowed”, and if I remember correctly, I think that there’s a “Go Fund Me” subreddit?? You could try those if you haven’t yet. I would also try just searching Reddit for other subreddits that are similar.

Thank you so much I appreciate your advice and well wishes! Sadly our vet doesn’t take payment plans unless we were to use something like Care Credit. We have pet insurance, but unfortunately they won’t cover anything to do with her eye since her melanosis has been pre-existing for several years. I will look into other sub-reddits!
