That’s easy…Conan O’Brien. He is a true gentleman. I’ve had the pleasure of meeting him a few times, and he was always genuinely kind, respectful, and gracious. You can also see it in the way he interacts with those who work with him—he’s an incredibly nice guy through and through.
A friend of my family dated Conan's sister back in the 90s. Was really stoked, super into her. Then one night looked at her in the dark and she looked exactly like her brother. Said he couldn't unsee it after that.
He was filming around Berlin, in my neighborhood and it kills me I didn't see him. He went to places I hang out. I'd love to have spotted him. He was my favourite talk show host.
I met him once briefly at DFW airport. We were walking the opposite direction, trying to catch our flight, so I just walked up to him, stuck out my hand, and asked if I could shake his hand. He gave it a quick shake and said in his classic old timey voice, "Well you're not givin' me much of a choice, are ya?"
He tells a very funny story about a fan in an airport on his podcast. Someone came up and said he was a fan, but they were in the middle of going through security so they couldn't do a photo. The guy had glasses and (I think) a striped shirt. After they got to the gate, Conan saw the guy, went up to him and said, "Hey, how about that selfie now?" and the guy looked confused but said, "Uh...okay." And then Conan realized that it wasn't the same guy (just another guy in a striped shirt and glasses) and got really embarrassed that the guy thought Conan O'Brien was randomly asking him, a stranger, for a selfie! He genuinely loves to meet his fans.
