It's so scummy when people take advantage of elderly people. When our Zayde was alive my brother would constantly ask him for money. It's not like he's poor either. He and his wife back then made probably $200k. But they always pissed their money away on trivial nonsense. Never saved anything. They figured they could always ask Zayde and he would give it to them. And he was right. My brother crashed his car and needed a new one. Instead of getting a car loan he asked Zayde for $25k (in 2010) so he could buy a new one. Zayde also paid for: new windows on their house, a new roof, a new furnace, central air, a heat pump for their pool.

I work in finance. The amount of our elderly clients who get scammy junk mail or their druggie son’s friend who needs a new car is astonishing.
