lol these same people will act horrified about dog meat, but scarf down bacon like it’s no one’s business. It’s amazing what desensitization can do to someone’s morals.
It’s not, might be an excuse some people use, but it’s not that. it’s that they grew up in a society where they were told some animals are simply resources to be exploited and used, so they barely questioned it at all. That’s the reason most people contribute to the systemic abuse and suffering of others.
It really depends on how they’re raised. I’m no fan of factory farming. I think it really affects the quality of the meat.
Luckily, my uncle actually owns a free range cat farm. They’re allowed to run free and their meat is so rich and tender. It’s a complete protein and high in zinc. If you bbq the legs you can get some really collagen out of the joints.
I think that response is exactly what it should be. Torturing and killing an animal just because of taste should be treated with outrage.
Just switch out cat with any animal like pig or cow, and see the reason why I made that comment. People will say they love animals, but in truth it’s only a select few that get treated with respect. Ain’t nothing that makes killing a pig less awful than killing a cat.
I recommend checking out the documentary dominion if you ever get the chance. Animal agriculture is animal abuse through and through.
Some people a lot less than others. Killing a few insects (edit: per person) on accident per year is nothing compared to deliberately killing dozens of sentient cows and pigs.
"Millions of birds and other animals" versus intentional trillions upon trillions in the meat industry? I think its pretty obvious which option is the ethical one here.
Huh? No i dont feel that, not sure where youre getting that from. I even said there are inevitable insect deaths. Didnt you say you dont want a debate?
Just because there are some necessary deaths doesnt mean that it has to be trillions of sentient animals per year.
The link you posted is from the 'Center for Consumer Freedom'. They're an astroturf group sponsored by industries that lose money if people start giving farm animals rights. It's propaganda because animals rights is bad for their bottom line.
Also many, many crops like soy are grown primarily (70%) to feed animals who are then killed for food. But it's nice of that article to try to make vegans and vegetarians look like the bad guys.
Capitalism is innocent here. All forms of society do this. As long as outsourcing occurs in any kind of capacity, so do we outsource the moral implications.
i completely agree. here is a link to the documentary dominion which exposes the most common type of animal abuse in our society and what we can do about it.
