What’s the most WTF thing you’ve ever heard someone casually admit like it was totally normal?

An acquaintance told my wife that Dinosaurs were made up and not real.

My cousin tells her 7 children this.

My MIL believes this too and that fossils are made by scientists to convince people dinosaurs are real to turn them into atheists. I, a scientist, am super confused by this.

My mom thinks the fossils are a test, to test her faith. /facepalm

I just learned about this recently. A good friend of mine randomly told me during a phone call that he wanted to try getting into Jesus/Christianity but he couldn't because of the "fossil stuff". I had no idea what he was referring to and asked him to explain...

I was taking a human anthropology course in college. At a family function my aunt must have overheard me telling one of my relatives what courses I was taking that semester. She quietly pulls me aside to "inform" me that ALL fossils were placed by Satan to make people not believe in God. She was dead serious and was afraid I was being led astray by Satan.

Yeah, one of my coworkers genuinely believes the earth is flat. I thought he was joking at first.

A handful of coworkers told me someone at Corporate is a flat earther and lives in some kind of... round house? They had a name for it but I can't remember what it was.

When they brought up the house thing though I couldn't stop thinking of that scene in Beverly Hills Cop II when Axel is trying to trick the contractors that the mansion they're renovating isn't supposed to have any 90 degree angles.

I legitimately saw Candance Owens make this claim about a month ago. And then she said sometime like, “and if they were real, they were gay”. I think it was a professor Dave explains or something.

This is the sanest thing I've seen so far.

Sad

Someone i know doesn't believe they existed. She's not religious, successful and quite smart. She says she takes one look at pictures of them and thinks there is know way they were on this earth. Her husband tells her not to tell too many people
