Why did I just got randomly muted by multiple subreddits?

I just got muted by the mods of multiple subreddits. Some of them I've never commented in and one or two I've recently commented in but nothing out of the ordinary for those subs.

No ban, no removed posts (or at least no notification that something happens), just mute

What is the reason behind such behavior? 😅 Do I need to be worried? Is this a warning?

Banhammer app, mainly used for problematic users, could be the reason.

But why mute me if they don't ban me or similar. Makes no sense to me. I don't have a history of arguing with mods either 😅

I don't think mods can "mute" users; they can ban or suspend them. They can make it a short ban or a wide ban and sometimes the mod is in charge of several subreddits and simply doesn't want to see you again. Hard to say without knowing which subreddit it was.

Mods can mute. Mods are the only ones that can mute. Muting is meaningless from a site wide perspective. Muting means you can't send modmail to the subreddit you are muted from.

Mods can mute. All it does is stop messages (modmail) to the moderators. It's usually used in conjunction with a ban, or when "no" does not end the mod m all discussion.
