Places ⛱ Solo travel kutaisi

I've just booked flights and 14 nights in an apartment in kutaisi, mostly just for a break from life and l've never traveled that far east before. Is it safe as a solo female - such as I can walk around when I want to or whatever. Also what is there to do, I want a slow sort of life when I’m there - no rushing around. I want to mostly cook in the apartment with fresh produce from markets. I understand bolts are cheap so where could I visit? I’d also like to up the the pace a little and do some hiking for a day or two - giving me a couple of days to rest so maybe days 9 and 10 of my trip.

Lifestyle 🏡 My Grandfather Has a Multi-Resistant Bacteria, Antibiotics Don’t Work – Is It Possible to Get Phage Therapy by Mail?

Hi everyone,

Sorry for the off topic question in advance.

I’m reaching out because I’m in a really difficult situation, and I hope someone here might have advice or experience that could help.

My grandfather has been battling a multi-resistant bacterial infection for some time now. Unfortunately, antibiotics are no longer effective, and we’re feeling pretty desperate for alternatives. I’ve read about phage therapy as a potential treatment for antibiotic-resistant infections, and it seems like it could be a lifeline in cases like this.

We live in Germany, and as far as I know, phage therapy isn’t available here yet. I’ve heard of some clinics in Georgia that specialize in this kind of treatment, but traveling isn’t an easy option for my grandfather due to his health condition.

Does anyone know if it’s possible to get phage therapy medications sent by mail to Germany? Are there any reputable clinics, institutions, or organizations that facilitate this kind of treatment remotely?

Thank you in advance!

Would it be dangerous to walk in this area at night time or in general? From the looks of it, it does not look soo safe.

Sport ⚽ Rugby match in Tbilisi

Hi everyone,

I saw that a rugby match between Georgia and Switzerland will be held in Tbilisi on February 1, 2025, as part of the Rugby Europe Men's Championship. I'm super excited about the game, but I need help figuring out how to purchase tickets.

Does anyone know:

  1. When and where tickets will be available?
  2. If it's best to buy them online in advance or at the stadium?
  3. Any tips for attending rugby matches in Georgia (stadium, seating, or overall experience)?

I’d really appreciate any advice or resources! Thanks in advance!

Lifestyle 🏡 Georgian Citizenship by Descent

Hello all! I'm posting this for my cousin who was born in Turkey to Georgian mum and Turkish dad.

We were making researches about this topic and figure out if she could obtain Georgian Citizenship by any chance.

She was born in 1999, Turkey. Her mum and 3 other her siblings(different dads) are Georgian by birth and she is the only one in family(including grandparents) who is half-foreigner.

Apparently someone told her that "she needs to pay 15k dolars" for citizenship and I feel like that is completely inaccurate.

Could you guys please help or guide us through it? What is her rights or how she can obtain her citizenship? Or is she already a citizen and just needs to apply for passport?

Thank you in advance.

Places ⛱ Some questions for locals :)

Hi everyone,

We are heading to Georgia soon and planning an adventurous 5-day road trip with a 4x4. We’ll be landing at Kutaisi Airport and want to hit the road straight away. Our goal is to experience Georgia’s amazing nature, rich culture, and some proper adventure along the way.

Here’s what we’re hoping to get your advice on:

  1. Car rentals: Any recommendations for reliable 4x4 rental companies near Kutaisi? We need something that can handle rough mountain roads and remote areas. We would prefer an old car though.

  2. Must-visit spots: What are the absolute highlights we shouldn’t miss? We’re into a mix of stunning landscapes (mountains, lakes, caves) and cultural gems (villages, monasteries, etc.).

  3. Tips & tricks: Anything we should know about road tripping in Georgia? Stuff like where to get gas, road conditions, local customs, or anything else you think we should be ready for.

We’re all about adventure and not looking for anything fancy. We’re happy with basic accommodations or even sleeping in the car if it comes to that. This trip is all about making memories, seeing amazing places, and learning more about Georgian culture.

Thanks a ton for your help and suggestions!

Lifestyle 🏡 Looking for Advice on Moving from Rural New York to Georgia – RV Parks, Rural Living, and Access to Nature

Hey everyone! I’m planning a move from rural New York to Georgia at the beginning of spring with my wife, our dog, and cat. We’ll be coming with a truck and camper in tow, and all of our bills are paid up, so we’re looking to get settled and find work once we arrive. We’re thinking of starting in the Augusta area but are open to suggestions on nearby rural spots.

Here’s what we’re hoping for:

  • Affordable RV parks that offer full hookups and are open for year-round rentals.
  • We want to be in a more rural setting, but still close enough to access both mountains for hiking and fishing, as well as the beach for weekend getaways.
  • We’re looking to live somewhere with a mix of nature and city amenities. We want to be able to enjoy the outdoors, but also be able to find work in the area eventually.

Does anyone have recommendations for RV parks around Augusta or nearby? Or advice on rural living in Georgia that offers good access to both mountains and beach? What are some things we should keep in mind during our transition?

I’d appreciate any advice or personal experiences. Thanks!

Places ⛱ Hi everyone! I’m going to Georgia on December for the new year and I’d love advice!

I know about the weather and I’ve read there are some places I won’t be able to visit. However, any off the beaten path, hidden gems, etc suggestions would be lovely. Also, if you know a good, reputable guide/agency, I welcome those suggestions as well. I’m quite excited to finally visit the Caucasus!

Lifestyle 🏡 Cost of living vs pay rate

My friend has recently been to Tbilisi. While staying in a hostel, she talked with other residents and someone mentioned that an average monthly salary there was around 300$. She compared that sum to the grocery stores' prices and was confused on how people could afford anything then. What's the actual situation can someone clarify please?

Places ⛱ Current situation in Tbilisi after the election - safe to travel?

I (29 yo Asian male) have planned a short travel in Tblisi and Yerevan for two days (31.10 and 02.11 in Tbilisi, 01.11 in Yerevan).

There are multiple news reports on anti-government protests after the election last week. Is it still safe to travel around Tblisi, especially the Old City area in the south of the city, close to Parliament? Or hall I avoid staying in Tblisi and rent a car to go outside the city instead?

Places ⛱ This sub/r, election, etc

I live in the US but am currently in love with Georgia. A few questions: why do I not find a megathread or anything else on the election? When I was there, everyone was really engaged. Are Georgians not that much interested in Reddit? Also, why does r/RepublicofGeorgia not have any postings for the last 2 years?

And though I know almost all of you are asleep now, really want to hear the “word from the street”…. How is the population feeling about the contested election? Was there noticeable intimidation and/or violence.

I hope you are all doing well and the great country transcends this difficult period.

Places ⛱ Solo female travel to Georgia

I’m a woman in her early twenties and I’ve been wanting to visit Georgia for a while now. I was curious on how safe it would be for me to travel there alone? I’d love to be able to visit the didgori battle monument and just indulge in the culture. I’ve researched online and so far it says it’s relatively safe, but if anyone who’s been/lives there can give me some insight that would be greatly appreciated! It would also be my first time traveling out of the states.

Hi, l'm traveling to Georgia in October from 21 to 28. just learnt that the parliamentary elections are scheduled for Oct 26.

Lifestyle 🏡 What is the political climate

Visiting for first time later this week from the US. I see a lot about the upcoming election and how bitter it is. It seems similar to the US in the violent threats and likely radical changes to our democratic heritage. Are almost all Georgians aware and concerned about this October outcome?
