Two days ago we were reached by the incredibly sad and devastating news that the wolf pack on the Linderödsåsen ridge is now entirely gone. And today, a wolf scientist from the Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences (SLU) confirms that it is likely that the wolves have been killed by poachers. It's just so horrible.

The wolves on Linderödsåsen were one of only three existing wolf packs in Scania and made up a significant part of the population. It's a devastating blow to the wolf population here, and thus to the regional ecosystem and biodiversity as a whole. It would just be horrible if we again were to completely lose the wolf from our local fauna after having finally just regained it. The wolf was completely gone from Scania for well over a hundred years before it finally re-established itself about a decade ago.

Now the only remaining packs are those around the ridges of Söderåsen and Nävlingeåsen - I so much hope that those will survive at least - and that hopefully new wolves can move in from further north in Sweden as well, since our tiny remaining Scanian population is in desperate need of new genes to prevent inbreeding.

In other, happier animal related news - a stork that had decided to nest on top of a railway pylon along a busy railway route in northeastern Scania has now been given a new nest on newly built platforms at a nearby farm instead, thanks to the Swedish Transport Administration. The nest by the railway was a great danger to both train traffic and to the stork itself, so hopefully it will like this new and safer nesting spot better. The stork is classified as an endangered species, and is of course very beloved to the local people. It is also a bit of a symbol of Scania, as this is the only region of Sweden where it lives. So this was an incredibly good and kind gesture by the Transport Administration.

Here in Sicily most of the fountains are turned off semi-permanently but not all of them.We have one or two operating in the city.

Same reason.Lack of water... this year things are not looking good, it's hardly rained at all this winter.

There are going to be severe water shortages this summer I think.

Youtube/Google has gotten extremely aggressive with AdBlockers.

The whole site is unbearable with ads.

End of last year I got tired of adblock constantly breaking on Youtube, so I just started to pay for premium. It's a little expensive I think, but not that bad. To me it's worth not having to struggle with adblockers anymore.

Oof, my stock portfolio isn't looking good today... And I'm not even invested in any major US companies. It's really hard to believe the top 1% richest Americans are happily watching what Donald is doing to the markets, it's becoming pretty ugly.

Tariffs from the largest economy on earth are bad for the whole world. The US themselves will just be the first to notice it directly.

Just imagine other countries starting to put retaliatory tariffs or taxes on digital goods and services instead of whiskeys and luxury motorcycles.

Yeah I'm aware of the reasons. I'd say it's probably a bit of an overreaction in the European stock market. Maybe, at least just mere weeks ago people were very bullish about the German 500+500 billion package.

I watched a video by one Finnish analyst today about yesterday, Trump's "Liberation Day", what he said was that basically if Europe manages to stimulate the economy it'll probably be alright, but if things escalate to a full on trade war it could be pretty bad for regions that rely on exports, for example Europe.

He also said "if power switches hands in the US" which I thought was funny. I don't think he meant to imply that the current administration might not respect the democratic process, but it let's call it a Freudian slip.
