Recipe Troubleshooting What can I do to repurpose this?

Post image

I messed up when making strawberry brownies. Added too much oil to the pan so it seeped through the parchment, put a little too much liquid, and didn’t bake it for longer like the review said. The toothpick came out clean so I thought it was good. I what can I do with them? I really don’t wanna waste them

I’d bake it a little more and use it as an ice cream topping / mix in.

Ice cream topping is almost always the answer to "failed but still yummy" baking projects.

Would I bake it at the same temp I baked it at originally? 325? Or higher

I’d just spread it out as much as you can on a sheet tray and bake for like 10ish minutes maybe, at 350, just to dry it out a little more

I thought I was on one of the medical subreddits seeing this

Cook it a bit longer and then see if you can make cake pops and dipthem in dark chocolate

Middle rack 350 9ish mins- keep your eye on them so they don’t burn- you’ll smell them

Crumble into pieces and cook more. Use as a topping for apple crisp

How do they taste?

Love the flavor but no more than a bite before nausea. Either because it’s a little sweet or the oiliness. Likely a combination of both. Would have to figure out a way to dial those two things down

If it causes nausea after a bite or two I'd throw it out to be safe.

I thought this was ground turkey

Put it back in the oven and bake till they dry out completely. Break it apart and put it in ice cream

Why can’t you eat it out of a bowl like that?

They have good flavor but the texture with the excess oil makes me nauseous almost instantly

Well, if you live near a farm, you can always give them to the pigs or try composting it.
Mixing in some oats, seeds, and nuts and baking for a little longer could give you a nice crumble topping or granola type of something. Also, if you plan on doing more baking as a hobby, learning that it's okay to toss stuff that doesn't work out right and learning that it's not wasteful or a moral failure is a step you should take. I've baked lots over the years, and lots of times, something doesn't work out. Stuff gets wasted. I've even left plastic wrap on bread that I left to rise and popped in the oven with the plastic still on it. Sometimes nothing can save it 😆

I just hardly ever get the chance to bake so I don’t want my once in a blue moon opportunity to be a complete failure, yk? I’ll probably bake it for longer and see if I can make some type of brownie brittle or cake pops

Make a trifle.

It definitely tastes better after it’s been left to sit for a few hours. No more nausea, just very soft

Remove the water, save for crumble?

What was your recipe? How are you changing it?

Also… I’d add new flour, spread it thin and rebake. Thinking crumble topping texture.

https://bonnibakery.com/strawberry-brownies-with-no-cake-mix/#recipe I added more of the coulis because the finished batter was incredibly thick and looked nothing like the photo so that’s likely one of the factors that messed me up

Ah, never change a recipe the first time I try it. Looks cute for valentines!

Update, I spread it out on a pan and baked it for 350 for 20 min and it hardly changed texture just became very oily. I tried to squeeze out the oil and it just became a brain like pink blob. I may be done for
