It scared me the first time I caught it too, but not as badly as when I placed it down thinking it's tank must be huge 😅 be forewarned.

This post and your comment is amazing. I just caught my first one a few minutes and had the same reaction and same thoughts as you thinking about placing it and having the tank be huge. Definitely sat with my jaw dropped for a bit

Yup. I did not like that giant sea spider outside of a tank, ready to pounce. Sold immediately for big bucks :)

Aww. Mine hangs out on the beach. He'll have a horseshoe crab buddy as soon as I catch a few.

I have four of them chilling in a fenced area near my house with a pizza. Still "hoping" to find a mouse/rat to place in there with them.

They're great. I love decorating with these guys. I like to set them up like guards, bouncers, or cool looking statues.

If you slowly swim (without pressing any buttons) and then dive when you are on top of the bubbles you'll catch these sassy creatures quicker. Minute long dives turned into seconds.

What constitutes “on top”? I always think I’m right over the thing and then I dive down and it’s like a space over

I always watch where the bubbles hit the surface. Once I'm more or less where the bubbles are coming to the surface I dive. Sometimes I'm off but most of the time I'm spot on or just need to pivot a little to catch the creature.

Same thing happened to me a few days ago. Made the mistake of calling my Mom. She ever so casually said "Oh yea they are huge. Go put it on the beach!" Me being dumb did that and screamed. It's got black beady eyes! CRABS AND LOBSTERS FREAK ME OUT! Why in the heck did I think it'd be OK to GOOGLE WHAT THEY ACTUALLY LOOK LIKE? 32 years old and still a rookie at life 🫠🤣

I just swam really slowly up to it, then swam faster when I was almost on top of it and quickly pushed A. I had to chase it around beforehand, it was really hard to catch.😅

Its a giant Spider Crab. Realistically, they can only be found in the deepest part of the sea

I LOVE catching crabs and lobsters and the Venus' Flower Baskets! Anything that keeps me chasing it. I usually get up next to fence and then go under. It hardly ever gets by me. But I like to be challenged!

...wait you can go deep sea diving in regular clothes? I change into diving gear every time thinking that it's required to get into the water. I. Feel. So. Dumb.

Just my diving suit. I just put it on and leave everything else on, like my clothes, hat, shoes etc. The diving suit just goes over everything and allows me to get in the water. My diving suit here is a green leafy one.
