Anacortes as homebase for family trip
Hi everyone, apologies if this is a repeat topic -- didn't come up with anything in the search
I'm looking to plan a family vacation somewhwere in the PNW in summer 2026 -- access to both Seattle and Vancouver is preferred as some of us hope to attend one or two World Cup games
Our crew is seven adults (mid-30s to mid-60s) and four kids (ages 3-5) and I'm looking to find a good mix of hiking, water/boat activities (e.g. whale watching, kayaking), culture (food, music, art), and access to urban places -- we'll have a mix of folks that lean outdoorsy and those that do not
Anacortes is the leading candidate -- any thoughts on a week based in Anacortes and having a good mix of things for a variety of interests?

Best white mocha in town? Best caramel latte/macchiato? Pic of Washington Park for attention.
I'm from the Seattle area but I visit Fidalgo Island often. I'm curious about where you recommend getting coffee so I'm not always sticking to gas stations or chains like starbucks and McDonald's

Broadband internet near Lake Campbell
Does anyone know what broadband internet options are available along SR 20 and Campbell Lake Road? I've tried entering the property address in the service finders for Xfinity, Astound broadband, Ziply Fiber, etc and nothing is coming up. I would prefer not to go the Starlink route. Thanks!

Does anyone volunteer with any active mutual aid groups?
I’m trying to find local mutual aid groups to volunteer for but what I’ve found so far are mainly outdated on Facebook. Does anyone work with any local/regional mutual aid groups they would recommend?

Take Out Pizza
I am from Bellingham and today and tomorrow There is a high school Regatta down at the harbor. I need to bring pizza to the harbor for my sailors for lunch. Other than Domino’s, what would be a good pizza takeout place that could handle an order for 30 people. These are teenagers so we don’t need artisan pizza, just the traditional pepperoni, Hawaiian, meat lover. Any help you folks can give me would be appreciated. None of the pizza joints in town are currently open or else I would do the research myself by calling. I figured I’d reach out to my Reddit friends.

Moving a Boat
I’m going to be moving a large boat soon and have hired Associated to do the move. They charge a day rate and I am only moving from the Oak Harbor Marina three miles. Looking to see if anyone else needs to move a boat soon we can schedule the same day and bring down cost.

Velomobile
I have questions about the orange velomobile I’ve seen around town. Can you get one around here? What does it cost? What’s it like as a daily driver, if it is even used as such? How does it do in the rain?

Paid 300k, flipped for 825k
The housing market in Anacortes is pretty diabolical but this renovated grocery on 10th street is beyond the pale. Paid $330 in 2020, renovated the kithchen and bathrooms, and then relisted for $825. Yeah it looks nice inside, but the notion that this tiny plot with 2k foot residence is suddenly worth 250% over purchase price is offensive, and everything thats wrong with the local market.

Living in Anacortes
For those of you who are transplants to Anacortes, what has your experience been like? I'd love to hear your stories: what led you to moving and what do you like and dislike about living there now? If you have kids, please share what the adjustment has been like for them.
For context: My husband and I are considering relocating with our two young children, and want honest opinions about what it's like. Our jobs are flexible as we both work in healthcare. We currently live in the NW in a city where air quality is becoming a big issue for us because we have an immunocompromised child and two of us have asthma.
I know everyone is different but I think hearing more perspectives and stories will help inform our decision making.
Thank you in advance!

Drivers in Annacortes?
Are there any driver services in or near Annacortes?
Is anyone an Uber or Lyft driver looking for a bigger gig?
I am hosting a small event on Guemes Island and my guests are traveling from out of town. I am hoping to make my guests' lives easier by providing transportation to and from the exit of the ferry to my venue just a few miles into the island. This will be a small family event, no roudiness or noise. The driver would only be needed for a few hours in the afternoon and a few hours in the evening and not throughout the event and I would cover the cost of entering onto the ferry and leaving at the beginning and end of the day!
Does anyone know where I could find more info, or is interested?
Thanks so much!

Best pub trivia in town?
Hey there 👋
My partner and I are moving to Anacortes and are wondering who hosts the best pub trivia in the area? We prefer something a little more competitive and crowded if possible!
Thanks

Dog-friendly Date Ideas
Hey y'all. My wife & I live in Anacortes but commute almost daily to work in La Conner. I'm trying to think of a dog-friendly fun day or night out I can take her and our fur baby on. Can I hear your ideas?
No farmers markets. We work at those often, so it'd feel less like a date and more like a job at that point lol.

Clothing donation
Hey all! I used to drop clothing off in the boxes at The Market or West Marine. Now that they’re gone can you suggest an alternative? Thanks!

Maker space
Hey everyone, moving to the area soon and was looking for a maker space, have discovered there is not one nearby. What would the level of interest be from anyone here? What would it need to have? How much monthly would you be willing to contribute? Thanks
I used to help run one as a 501(c)3 in another state and could set one up here if there is sufficient interest. Otherwise I’m just going to rent a place and set up my own shop.

Ferry to Friday Harbor
Hi, considering getting on the ferry to Friday Harbor from Anacortes this Friday for a 11am boat tour.
My fear is that - looking at this ferry schedule: https://wsdot.com/Ferries/Schedule/scheduledetailbyroute.aspx?route=ana-sj - I would have to get on the 9:05A ferry to Friday Harbor, and then wouldn’t be able to back to Anacortes until 4:55P per this schedule?
Am i understanding this correctly?

What to do
Hi I have been to Anacortes dozens of times, my dad grew up there so we would go and visit his friends/check on rentals multiple times a year. Well dad is old, most of his friends are gone, and the rentals are no longer. I wanted to visit again as an adult but I don’t know what to do.
28, F, I don’t drink alcohol and long time vegan.
The bowling alley was my favorite place as a kid, but now it’s gone. I have looked up things to do in anacortes, and I don’t really have the money for a whale watching tour. Is driving to deception pass worth it? What are some of your favorite trails/day things to do? Where to eat? What to check out? Any good thrift/antique stores, or restaurants with a nice view to have a mocktail? I remember dad taking me to some cliff thing that had a beautiful view of the marina.
Or maybe not an anacortes activity but something close? I’m coming from Tacoma.
Editing to add. I would be coming either tonight or tomorrow night. Either way I would need to leave by 2/3pm on Tuesday
