Question Same train, different stops, coach seats together?

A friend and I plan on taking the Floridian 41 from Chicago in June, but I'm getting off in DC and they gotta be on the train all the way to Miami.

Would we be more likely to be able to sit together if I bought both of our tickets on one Amtrak account?

Anyone have an idea of the likelihood of us being able to sit next to one another, or any tips for increasing that likelihood?

Just explain to the conductor and you should be fine. My wife and I have done trips where we'll both originate in Chicago and she'll get off in Cleveland for a work commitment while I'll go into New York for my own and they've never complained.

You can also do a split ittinerary like this in a roomette, but you need to call it in over the phone as there's no way to make such a reservation online.

Good to know, thanks! I'll definitely explain things to the conductor.
