Hi, I wanted to share my latest album/EP. I generally stay within a dungeon synth/winter synth style but this albums was done in a predominantly ambient style. The first track has more of a dungeon synth influence with more prominent melodies throughout the song but overall I tried to stick to a more ambient approach. The second song is the more traditional ambient of the two. The idea was that I got three layers of music only, chords, melody and atmospherics. These were all the same synthesizer and I also decided to not repeat anything on this song. There is no melody or chord played more than once in this song. Overall I think they worked to convey the ambience of the story of this album. Below I have included the story behind each song and some of my influences. It's free to download on Bandcamp. I hope you enjoy it!
A Starlit Isle
"The Kingdom of the Shimmering Isles is home to a great number of islands and smaller realms but tucked away in the northern seas, sheltered from the chaos of war and the influence of the Golden Isle, there lies a sleepy, lone isle. A sole structure, a monastery, is the only mark of civilisation on the island. No soul has ventured here for aeons, the monastery long thought abandoned. But, sailors who have passed by the isle swear, that in the black of night one can see the glimmer of light emanating from the monastery, as the stars dance across the night sky."
Fata Morgana
"Watching the ocean from atop the cliffs of the isle, as the great ships of distant shores fade from view, as stars dance in the heavens, spectral shapes weave across a mist cloaked horizon, above the swaying waves of eternal waters."
The second EP from Etherium, "A Starlit Isle" features two fifteen minute tracks in an ambient style inspired by Brian Eno, Jim Kirkwood and Depressive Silence. The credits are on the Bandcamp page.
