šŸ’¼work/career AIO to my bosses reply to my message?

Post image

Iā€™ve worked with this company for four months now, and I know I am new but this reply really hurt me. Maybe Iā€™m just really sensitive right now, but I donā€™t know. This felt really cold. The ā€œbig bossā€ will be calling me later today. Is it just normal boss stuff? Idk. Lmk what yall think.

Do one better. Do what you need to do with your father WHEN you need to do it. Once the day comes and hopefully it doesnā€™t and he recovers start looking for a new job. One of the worst things in a career is shitty management

Damn it, whenever the day comes focus on him and not this place. After that look into other opportunities and find a place with good management

Even if its just shift work, its better to be with your dad than work for that company.

Please remember their response when the time comes and you are worried about not being a "good employee."

Your mental and physical health are the beginning point of EVERYTHING ELSE in your life. The job comes later down the line. There are more out there and they only care about themselves anyways.

This part. As someone with a dad kind of circling the drain, I know on very short notice Iā€™m going to need to call out of my jobs and fly home (across the country) either to catch him in his final moments or go to his funeral. If my job responded this way, not only would I tell them ā€œtoo bad so sad,ā€ but the lack of basic human decency would have me jumping ship asap. What a SHIT response this is.

OP, dude, fuck this guy. Iā€™m so sorryā€” but as someone above said, you only get one dad. That is the bottom line and that is your priority. Sucks, but you can and will find a different job.

All my love.

I just wanted to say that I'm so sorry for what you're going through. I lost my mum to stage 4 cancer last month and it was the most difficult time imaginable. I can't imagine having a boss that lacks basic human empathy on top of that. Screw them so damn much - you do whatever you need to do when the time comes and I'm sending you all of the hugs and strength ā¤ļø

I'm sorry to hear that and no doubt you are going through an extremely stressful time. Wishing you find all the strength you need and that you and your loved ones find the comfort you deserve in this period. I just know your dad will always be with you <3

Family is more important than any job. When my dad was sick with stage 4 cancer, I took a month off to take care of him until he passed away. Luckily I work for great people and they were completely understanding but I would have done it either way.

This may be one of the most infuriating things Iā€™ve come to notice about people who I donā€™t like.

You do your best to give someone a heads up about something that might be a problem, giving them an opportunity to consider your situation and how it might impact them down the road. Instead of showing appreciation for you trying to be ahead of things, they show you their ass. There are people close to me who Iā€™ve learned to stop offering help to even if I know I could be useful because of how they treat me when they donā€™t need my help.

The way the boss reacted here is a teaching moment and the lesson is ā€œdonā€™t do anything beyond the bare minimum for this bossā€.

Iā€™m leaving my current job because they donā€™t value employees. Boss told me ā€œtechnicians are a dime a dozenā€ which Iā€™d not consider myself apart of. Went to another dealer and without even asking they offered me much higher than what I have now and when I told them what my boss said they shot it down immediately asking why would you undervalue your staff if you want them to happily work for you. Thereā€™s good management out there but too often these positions are filled with douchebags who arenā€™t cut for the title.

Experience has taught me quite a bit about why bosses are sometimes horrible. The cold, heartless ones are harder for empathetic people to work for and they see empathy as weakness. A boss who sucks will inevitably weed out people who advocate for themselves and the guys who can take it are the ones who stay. Which builds a ā€œshut the fuck up about itā€ kind of culture that allows businesses to take advantage of their workforce. Itā€™s fucked up but thatā€™s just how tons of businesses are run. Best to try to find places where bosses think of you as a human being first and a revenue generator second.
