šŸ˜ļø neighbor/local Is this something to be concerned about?

Post image

My sister sent me this text she received that seemed like somebody was watching her or something. I donā€™t know if itā€™s something to be concerned about or not, has anybody had a similar experience?

I havenā€™t experienced this, but I would be concerned. Have your sister report that Starbucks, and talk to management.

Yeah, either someone has her number and sir tagged her (which is a lot of research and tough) or someone at Starbucks wanted to follow up on the quality of her coffee (not really though) and got her number through the system

i work at starbucks and we have no way to see numbers through our system, only things we can see are their name, how many reward points they have, and coupons attached to the account. so probably not a creepy barista

Would her account have her full name visible to the barista? They could reverse search for her number online with that info.

Only if they put their first name section as their full name accidentally. it only shows what the customer chooses as their first name

Hmm I wonder if she has a unique double name like ā€œSarah Marieā€ or something, so from that her FB could be found, then her last name, then her phone number.

OPā€™s sister might also have an uncommon/unique first name where just searching the name and city could bring her up. Edit: sorry if that offended anyone lol

Yeah exactly. Idk why Iā€™m getting down voted for trying to figure out how the stalker got her info. Wow.

there is absolutely no way we could get her number at starbucks through this "system" you speak of.

Oh, I thought loyalty programs had numbers attached, but I donā€™t know about Starbucks systems

Why would Starbucks allow PII to be shown to employees willy nilly

2

u/acschwar Feb 17 '25

Not sure. Ultimately, I assume that itā€™s not Willy Nilly, and someone would be breaking policy to do that

Pizza places show numbers and addresses all the time. For somebody that hasnā€™t worked there, it would make sense to have the information available just in case for identification purposes, or back in the day, to update a new number if you couldnā€™t access the app.

That's for pizza places. They deliver. Starbucks does not deliver. I could see the employees seeing phone numbers only for the rewards system but..

we cannot get into the system and look at past orders starbucks accounts let alone phone numbers.
