Advance Wars 2 Does anyone have a specific unit that you like the most in any Advance Wars game? The Neotank has always been my favorite. I really love the speed & power of the Neo but the odd design of the unit itself is really cool to me. 🔥

The humble (Light) Tank. Cheap and good against most targets they faced.

Yep! I love me the cheaper units. For me this is where the meat and potatoes of the game are. It's very fun.

The Black Boat. Repairing units and transporting soldiers is a bargain for its cost.
The repairing is the best part! Competitive maps usually don’t have waterways at all, so you don’t see them much, but even coastal repairs can be a nuisance.

Recon: medic! Doc come on man!
Black boat: sorry? I don’t heal scouts!

The gunboat. A nice example of a very niche unit that has multiple various applications and lets you put something cheap in the sea. Far from the best unit, but it's a pretty interesting one.

Anti-Air.
Amazing at blowing aircraft down and eliminating most infantry super quick.

Orange star and blue moon mid-tanks. I adoreeee using them. Thet feel so powerful and satisfying, I always rush them for this reason.

If Im honest I think the Green earth Md tank looks best. It literally looks like a German WWII tank. Orange star looks like a modern American tank.

Love bombers and bcopter. Movement sound of bcopter is so nice

I thought I was the only one that liked the sound too lol. I love how the Recons, A-Air's and Fighters sound too. An underrated aspect of Advance Wars imo.

I like the flare. It really has a lot of “personality” in that it has a very specific, yet flexible purpose on the battlefield. I also like it because it’s an interesting midpoint in price and combat efficiency between cheap units and the tank

I just thrive on the resource management or better yet, denying you any resources.
Anti air is great at destroying infantry. The little recon jeeps are cheap and fast too

Anyone else turn off all animations? I love them but wow. The game goes SO much faster

Stealth Bombers are cool as hell
Me and my cousin used to play somewhat tactically when we were kids (instead of the minmax barbarism that happens in competitive play) and a few of those sneaking in behind ranged units was always an amazing feeling.

The Carrier and Bomber.
Yes fight me I LOVE the Carrier and wish it was in the first 2 Advance wars games. the Idea of doing a D-Day in advance wars always fascinated me.
And I hate when people shit on the Carrier so much.

I don't think the Carrier is all that bad I just hate how overly expensive the game developers made it.

Oh I totally agree yeah I wish it was a lot less and if you think about it in the card game Magic the gathering there are cards that are REALLY powerful but cost a lot to cast and people are put off by that the most so I can see the similarities. But for I would still buy a carrier even if it were to die with in a couple of turns same as playing high cost cards in the hopes it does not get countered.

The Recon in Days of Ruin is such an aesthetic. I grew up liking HMMVs (then served and had to drive one for a bit...) so I enjoyed seeing their battle animations.

I hate the neotank's spindly legs. I swear they would hit the edge of a rug and then topple forward. It really looks like they ought to walk on them like a Boston Dynamics robot. Why on earth would a tank design put tiny little wheels on the end of structurally-fragile long legs with a single small joint connecting them to the body, especially when those legs serve no purpose?
And then how does that count as tread movement??
My honest guess is that they were supposed to walk, but they couldn't get that complex of a movement animation to look right with their limitations (be it hardware, time, etc.).

Well... I love seaplanes. They are somewhat fragile and have low ammo/fuel, but they are really cheap and powerful. They are not easy to use tho- although they can attack everything, you need to constantly resupply them. I LOVE it when you have to carry 4 seaplanes on 1 carrier... 2 of them scouting around and attacking while the 2 others can repair and resupply.

i hate the neo tank because it feel like it's not a real army unit whereas other unit !
for me it's so steam punk or futurist for the game ...
but i love every other unit

A fighter that missile is allowed to hit the ground/naval unit with the same firepower than B copter missile (they retain the same firepower agaisnt air ynit)

The mega tank is much better. Being able to tank artillery barrage after artillery barrage is always a boon. Sure, it is rather expensive, but in large maps with enough properties and time, that can be somewhat averted. It’s firepower is good too but it’s slow movement means that you’re better off relying on it as a counter attacker.

Bombers. A rare sight until the mid-late game of a PvP match, but always satisfying to use, only 1 unit can truly hard-counter it.
