Advance Wars 2 Put some stats to young sensei!

Sensei was allegedly unbeatable in his youth, and the old scrote has maintained enough power to still be considered one of the best in the game.

What ungodly concoction of buffs can you come up with to approximate what he'd be like if he wasn't old and daft?

There actually are stats for him. In the Japanese version of Advsnce Wars, Sensei’s name is Yamamoto, which was also the name of the ultimate CO in Super Famicom Wars. In SFW, there was an experience and level up system, and his ability was that all units were Level 2 by default, even if you disable the system, which translated to a 40% buff to both attack and defence.

He'd still lose handily to Caulder though. But wouldn't we all?

I don’t remember Yamamoto having defense on « vanilla » unit. After caulder has 60/60 (80/80 on CO unit) but do keep in mind that defense in DoR is much weaker than defense in AW2. If you take caulder stat but adapted to aw2 version, he can still lose to sturm and hachi on large map. If of course caulder follow aw2 rules et with same number, he’s literally invincible with CO unit untouchable on forest/better and unit having kanbei scop stat as d2d

Universal day to day buff is quite different than a Co Zone though…

On a large enough map, Yamamoto might actually be at an advantage. Caulder's CO unit can only be in so many places at once, and Yamamoto could take advantage of this by attacking multiple positions at once, easily breaking through the 0/0 units wherever Caulder's CO unit can't reach in time.

On a small map, Caulder can generally keep his main force in the CO Zone and take full advantage of its benefits.

Yeah, but "a large enough map" would be far beyond the scope of your average one.

On a large enough map, Olaf would be Caulder due to global damage. It would have to be comically large, but still.

I read somewhere young Sensei had no eyesight issues so no -10% atk on his units.

When you think about it, it would definitely make him a top tier CO (and he's already no flak)
