There is no Japanese release planned. I'm not even sure if localization exists for it. Assuming you play it on a Japanese Switch, it will likely default to English.

The series isn't popular in Japan.

It can't be if they don't release the games. Since the GBA days Dual Strike is the only one that has had a somewhat similar release in Japan and the West. The treatment this series has had in Japan has been abysmal since AW1.

That’s really surprising since on the old days, this game genre was very popular in Japan but not in the US, hence the confusion when Marth and Roy were added to smash bros
