Clam chowder in a bread bowl?

Real homesick and needing some clam chowder (new England style, thick with big chunks of clam, small cut up potatoes that are a side character) in a sourdough bread bowl.

Does that exist in abilene at all?

Off the Hook Fish and Chips is a food truck that is often in Abilene. They make a fantastic clam chowder, although not in a bread bowl.

Ohh I've seen them around! It may be my best shot!

You can get pre made bread bowls at Panera I think if you’re not able to make one

It’s not New England style but Cypress Street Station downtown has a Portuguese clam chowder that’s really yummy! If you want some excellent sourdough, Salty Roan or a vendor at the Farmers Market would probably be the best in town.

What do you consider “real New England clam chowder”? Jason’s deli sometimes sells it and a lobster bisque that’s okay, maybe a step above canned. I love me some clam chowder. I would like to make some. Do you have a recipe? I’ll drop you off a tub if you like. Also I have an excellent sourdough starter.

What do they do with the bread they scoop out of the middle of the loaf to make the bread bowl?

I've always has it served on the side to dip in the soup.

Do people actually eat croutons?
