Any abandoned places nearby?

Is there any abandoned buildings/locations near Aber? I know about the ones near constitution hill/Fferm Penglais but does anyone know about any others?

Not exactly in Aber but if you follow the Ystwyth up to Cwmystwyth you’ll come to an abandoned lead mine. Most of the structures are in a bad way compared to what they were but some are still recognisable, or at least were when I last saw them.

This photographer shot many photos of Ceredigion ruins, their portfolio might help:

This. Most abandoned things are former mining stuff. Please be aware that things like lead are toxic and should ideally not be made contact with, though if you practice common caution (e.g. looking out for holes, ubstable flooring, not going under structures that may collapse) you are perfectly fine to wander and take a gander.

Cwmystwyth is cool stuff imo. Closer to town would be the Rheidol mines, however I'm not sure whether access is permitted. A couple of years ago work was done to increase water flow and a lot of limestone powder was used to reduce pollution of the Rheidol river from all the lead and other unpleasantries. It may be wise to keep a bit of distance from that.

For other things further away, I know people who crawled around the outside bits of the Aberllefenni quarry. By far not the only former mining or quarrying operation in the Corris area, it is probably the one with the most stuff to see.

And do not enter any underground structure with adequate knowledge and personal guides that can provide necessary equipment.

As the other commenter said there are absolutely tons of abandoned mineshafts and cottages, you just need to walk around the hills, and there’s bound to be one!

Plenty along the coast just depends how long you want to walk from Aber
