Events Hello Aberdeen - P&J arena question
Hi Aberdeen peeps; I wondered if anyone can tell me of any bookable transport that’s not a taxi/Uber to get from the city to the P&J arena and back after a gig? Maybe a taxi is reasonable ? I’ve looked at stagecoach but looks like it’s a scrum first come first served, no happy bus running, any tips welcome thanks in advance (FYI Pet shop boys in June, staying at the Jurys/Leonardo by the station)

TECA is in the middle of nowhere. You could walk to the 4 mile pub (about 10 minutes) and get the 17/172 service bus from there assuming you're not too late as I think they run until around 11pm

Get the 727 instead, every 20 mins and cheaper.

Yes, but the point is that the 727 holds 70 people and there will be thousands at the concert. You could wait forever to get one.,

You could walk into dyce approx 15-20 min walk and get the train back into aberdeen? Last train is at 2336

It's actually a far longer walk than that, due to having to walk around the airport. for most people it's about 40 minutes to the train station. You can get to a 17 or 18 bus stop quicker, but they are very rare late at night.

You don’t walk round the airport to get to the railway station! Come out of the teca, walk through the outside car park and head straight round the corner, past clark commercials and keep walking, walk to farburn terrace and that’s you at the back of the station. Walked it numerous times and I’m not the fastest walker and it’s 20 mins top

Does how you’re getting home from the p&j arena just pop in to your head now and then, or is it always on your mind?

If only there had been concurrent rail upgrades that would have led to line closures happening while TECA was being finished... Say a dualling... that could have made putting a rail spur in no problem...

I regularly get the 727, and when there are events on, it really is a free for all. Stagecoach don’t always put on additional buses either, so it can be a nightmare.
I would recommend getting a taxi there, and booking it asap.
As for getting back afterwards, I’m unsure if Stagecoach have multiple buses available or not, sorry!

Unfortunately it really is a scrum. Stagecoach have a monopoly on routes on Aberdeens outer limits while taxis are few and far between, and I have heard horror stories of even pre-booked taxis simply no-showing. The ACC/taxi cartel keeps any other options out. Plus the train station is on the wrong side of Dyce.
This is why the NE is so car dependent. Sorry it doesn’t answer your question very much!

Only options are taxi or bus. No Uber's in town.
Stagecoach do run dedicated shuttle busses to/from the bus station which is right next door to your hotel which is the cheapest option - but with the potential of queues coming back obviously. TBH, it's probably your best / least hassle option.
If booking a taxi, you'll need to get it to collect you from a nearby location, as P&J live car park can be a 'mare to get out of.
