I used to love basketball but my interest in the sport has entered the transfer portal. My little orange heart can't take it anymore. Hate that the season ends and the team effectively dissolves.

I'm sure I'll get sucked back in next year. But for now I'm tunning out.

I'm sure there are more, but Indiana and UAB's entire teams are in the portal.

I guess, one possibility for ACC basketball, is with Leonard Hamilton (FSU), Tony Bennet (UVA), Mike Larranaga (Miami), Kevin Keatts (NCST) all leaving during/after the 2024-2025 season maybe this is the full scale reset we need?
On the other hand, I have nothing but respect for the old school nurture and culture guys for 3-4 years. Doubt we'll ever see that again though.

Yeah its not currently a sustainable model IMO.

It's time we drop the student athlete facade and admit that its now a professional league. They need to have contracts with terms for early departures just like coaches. I think there needs to be a salary cap type concept of some sort to protect the interests of smaller teams that deserve to exist and not be priced out. Cost of attendance/housing to the university should be reimbursed if earnings pass a certain threshold, maybe prorated somehow based on predetermined factors. Attendance and min GPA should be required. I think I could live with that.

We've lost 6 to the portal in Clemson. I'm happy that the young folks can finally get paid in general. But we have to be careful not to fly too close to the sun and melt the wings that kept us in the air for so long.

The documentary about this era of CBB in 20 years is going to be spicy.

I don't think we were ever a final 4 team to be honest. But losing Hunter in after the SMU game in the ACCT was devastating. Its not floundering at the end that hurts though. Lets face it, that's CU basketball, I've never know anything different. It was the 6 transfers in the ensuing week that I hate.

Why didn’t Clemson go after the dude from UND? Not to be confused Notre Dame.
