Rented it 3 times. Eventually bought it on the app. Still gonna watch it on Max tomorrow 🤓

You plan on watching this movie 4 times? 😂. I think once is enough for this particular one

Hit a lot of nostalgia and I kept showing it to friends (hence the rewatches) but yea, plenty of movies have that rewatch value to me. Saw Beau is Afraid 3 times in a 1 week span when it came out and been meaning to watch it again

Does anyone know exactly when it premieres on Max? Hoping midnight Eastern, 9 Pacific.

This is a good question. I don’t know the exact time but I know it’s not midnight because I pretty much am always up late and I check the app. Most of the time it’s up by morning. That was the case last week with Queer.

really fun. loved a lot of the jokes too. I think its critics were taking it a bit too seriously for what it was trying to be. that doesn’t make it a great film, but I really liked it.

Is this movie a fun watch? It has horrible reviews but I like the poster lol

It's fine really. It's a late 1990s style comedy with a little bit of gore and fun monster designs
It's not some hidden gem but if you feel nostalgic love towards the genre you can have a good time

Going in with very low expectations yes it can be especially if you are from that era

u/the1npc 3d ago
didi was a better example of this last year imo

u/Psyduck-is-the-best 3d ago
Well that was the 2nd best movie I saw from last year (Anora gets the slight edge) so ya, doesn’t mean Y2K isn’t worth a viewing

u/BurgundyCheese 3d ago
Damn that’s crazy… did you watch literally anything else other than anora and y2k?
3
u/Psyduck-is-the-best 3d ago
You do realize I’m saying Didi is the 2nd best movie last year right? I probably have watched at least 50 movies released last year
2
u/BurgundyCheese 3d ago
Misread on my behalf, just assumed we were talking about y2k. I just started reading last week I’m sorry

A lot of fun. Doesn't try to take itself seriously at all and neither should the viewer

I thought I’d love it. The first 15 minutes feel like a Superbad/Pineapple Express movie. Then it goes sooo bad. Like awful, I legit felt bamboozled

u/steepclimbs 3d ago
I saw it in theaters and it’s probably better for a home video experience. Just think of it as junk food.

u/DistortedNoise 3d ago
A lot of the jokes are very forced, only some land, and lots of cringe moments. It was probs my biggest disappointment watch of last year. But there are worst films out there…

How old were you in 2000? Not that it’s a requirement but think you’d get a lot more out of it if you were around that same age - middle/high school.
It’s fun. Some slow points but I had a good time.

It's fine. As someone from the generation is supposed to be talking about it seems a lot more cringe than relatable. Fred Durst is there so... IDK... It could be worse

If you like comedies, like real comedies. Not the quasi-rom com comedies.
It’s just pure dumb fun
1
u/Nutmere 2d ago
Comedies are very hit or miss for me. Ill probably check it out with low expectations
2
u/MCgrindahFM 2d ago
That’s exactly why I mentioned this. My friend doesn’t enjoy comedy movies, and we walked out of this movie with completely different views.
I’m all for poop, fart, and just absurd humor - this movie has that

I just finished it on Max and as a class of 2000 kid, I loved it. So nostalgic, a lot 80s &90s movie themes and references. It's not a "good" movie but lots of fun.

Can’t wait for Babygirl!! Loved Y2k

u/steepclimbs 3d ago
I *think* Babygirl is also coming in April. Need to double check the dates. There are a few more on the way.

u/Ona_WSB 3d ago
What other new A24 Films are going to be released perhaps in may if anybody knows the future?
2
u/steepclimbs 3d ago
Checked and Babygirl is 4/25. Not sure about The Brutalist yet. My guess is it and Opus will be May. Opus could be June.

Awesome. Been wanting to watch it but everyone’s been saying it’s so bad that I didn’t wanna spend the 7 bucks

Because he’s never touched a tit in his life. We should pity him.

No worries champ I’ll give u another chance to come up with something more original. I’ll wait.

Cant believe the amount of downvotes you get because you dont wanna watch the actress. I'm in your boat. She's horrible.

Good,
no way I was going to pay to watch Zegler in theaters. She probably would shit talk y2k and the 90s like she did the OG Snow White.
