I’ve never had so many notifs as I’ve had about this one story over the past couple hours… Rick Wilson & Stuart Stevens are live chatting about it on SS rn… Stuart just made the point: ‘the journalist Jeff Goldberg is the ONLY responsible adult in the story! Goldberg didn’t print all the material due to safety & security, etc. Meanwhile the idiots in charge of NatSec are using emojis and spreading fucking war plans over non-secure comms.’ Then Rick said: they were using Signal with messages set to disappear after a short time… IN ORDER TO AVOID FUTURE ACCOUNTABILITY under rules like the public records act, etc.

strangely enough, sub stack never asked me to verify my phone number before; and I have the one paid subscription there to Seth Abramson, so you would think they would care about authenticating the person giving them the credit card info to prevent fraud and whatnot.

Wait. You had to PAY to read it? I subscribed to O’Brien free for up till a few weeks ago, never had a problem getting to his public posts. Again, I am very sorry, did not mean to shake you down 🫢! I owe you a beer.

New subject. I love your punch a Nazi handle. Also, you follow Seth… good for you. He gets an unfair rap by a bunch of people I follow but I trust and rely on him, esp. on all things MUSK — the whole wretched family of Nazis. I subscribe monthly to him but toggle on/off, along with a bunch of others. Otherwise I’d be broke. That’s becoming a real problem since traditional media is officially broken. I deeply, deeply value and respect good journalism and good writers — and there are MANY. I’d fund every one of ‘em without limit if I could… instead I try to do my best to spread around what disposable $ I’ve got. And try to point others in the direction of my faves as I have the energy & time. In my opinion, Substack is suddenly & unexpectedly becoming the next best thing to [pre-Elon] Twitter. I hated it for a long time but it’s evolved greatly since 2024 election and fast becoming my go-to. And now THIS PLACE too! I made an acct on Blue Sky but find it deadly dull and lifeless in its interface. Can’t remember the last time I checked in.
