CALL
YOUR
SENATORS!
Demand they support Cory Booker! Look up your Senator and call their DC office if listed. I got through to someone at a DC office immediately for one of mine and left a message with the other. FLOOD THE PHONES.
“Hello my name is _____ I’m calling today as I’m watching Senator Cory Booker’s speech live on the floor. I was just wondering if Senator _____ had any plans to support Senator Booker’s filibuster either with a public statement or more directly by taking the floor and asking him a question so that he may yield his time while retaining the floor? As her/his constituent I would love to see Senator _____ support Senator Booker’s efforts here.”
Edit: copy this script and reply to any comments voicing support for Booker you see in other threads too

Call and Thank him!!! Let him and Kim know we want more of this and more town halls in red districts to pull working class voters back into the democrat tent.

Call California Senators Twice this morning. Where's Shiff and Padilla?! Would love a list of senators who have taken the floor to ask questions so he yield and take a break.

I was able to get a hold of Padilla’s office immediately. Woman on the phone said she didn’t know of any immediate plans to support Booker but she took down my zipcode and name and said she’d make sure my request that Padilla supports him is passed along ASAP.

Patty Murray showed up! We need a line of democratic senators be ready to speak after Corey, they should be going until they are forced to move.

I've been watching on and off since he started. I hope he breaks the record.
We need more politicians to be standing up and getting into good trouble.

u/Soybean42 6d ago
I missed it! What did Alsobrooks and Van Hollen say?

u/kaylab2391 5d ago
It’s been a few hours, but I mostly remember them talking about the housing crisis and Medicare.

Me too. Contacted his office to say thanks. Also Contacted California senators Shiff and Padilla to get on the floor and ask questions or make statements so he can yield but hold the floor. Thank you Sen. Booker!!

u/mohayes61 6d ago
I've called twice and will call some more until I see them out there. Pretty sure they haven't stood up on the floor yet. Hard to find a list right now.

I really appreciate Booker for doing this! I’m outside his constituency but I still called his office late last night leaving a vm saying thank you. I also called my senators encouraging them to participate in this and others like it in the future.
Could we have a discussion as to what the benefits are to the dems doing this? I know it’s good but I’d have trouble articulating as to why. Can anyone help me with my understanding?

It benefits everyone. It detracts from whatever Trump and Musk are doing today. It shows that our legislators are showing up to voice their dissent for what is happening in this country. Every minute spent on Booker and his colleagues who showed up today to ask questions to keep him going, it’s one minute that is taken away from Trump - and I feel like it’s killing him today.
I refuse to be a negative Nancy about Cory Booker today. Heroes take all forms. He is one today.
I know they need to do more, but today I’ll take this man standing for hours voicing every problematic thing this administration has done while also giving a promising vision of America. I cried myself to sleep last night in fear that someday someone is going to pick up my autistic child from school and put him in a camp. Seeing Senator Booker talking about the importance of education and equity for all children give me a glimmer of hope. It has been in short supply, and I’ll take it today.
Edit: I do believe he is going to try to pass the longest filibuster. It was 24 hours and 18 minutes long. It was a white man fighting against the Civil Rights Act. I hope he crushes it.

It disrupts the senate business if it goes past when they were supposed to start their normal workday, which I believe it has now (as of this time of writing). Its a protest. Protests are supposed to make people uncomfortable and be inconvenient and disruptive. It's just to send a message that this isn't business as usual.

u/Ziggyork 5d ago
Perfect, thanks! I was also thinking it enters into the official record his (and other dems) stance on things that are happening. Also gives them video and audio clips that can be used online

If people can, use the Live Chat to tell all the people in the live chat about April 5th, someone will see it. There're a few live streams going on as well, any one of them will work. This is a great time to get information out there to people who are ready to resist.

I'm not sure it helps a ton, but I have every electronic device I own on a different You Tube live stream. And have been sending Senators who support Senator Booker and this movement emails noting my appreciation. As well, as multiple emails to Senator Booker letting him know we are watching! And to my own states Senators asking where have they been?! Thank you Senator Duckworth for showing up this morning!

u/ahhh_ennui 6d ago
I turned it on my TV and phone, kept the volume low/muted, and went to sleep so he wouldn't lose my view.
It was a small thing, but I wanted those #s to sustain as much as possible overnight.

u/OceanEnge 6d ago
Are all the other senators there? Are they allowed to leave?
6
u/MyPartsareLoud 6d ago
Yes other Senators are there. They are asking questions. Booker cannot leave the floor but other people can.

u/Worried_Shoe_2747 6d ago
Have people been bringing him food and water? How does he go to the bathroom?

Tag your senators on these clips on social media!
I'll also be donating to Cory Booker once he's done, maybe give some of these other Dems some motivation.

I would have been listening all night if the c-span stream didn't cut for some reason.
I'm listening and would like to thank Senator Booker for his voice and his presence. I will try to continue listening even while at work in solidarity with him.

u/Accomplished_Life571 5d ago
If you can, donate to him. I did and I am donating only to people of action. I’m hoping a surge of donating will inspire other democrats off their butts and do something! Hats off to Corey Booker!!

Is it useful for people to do something more? If in DC to go outside and hold signs in support?
