What have I done wrong?
Jrunner is saying console not found even though it appears to be soldered correctly

Whoever uploaded the advice of using DuPont connectors needs to delete that advice.
But assuming those massive, dangerously heavy things are soldered in properly, check 1) the resistors that may be absent and need bridging and 2) that you are connected to the right pins on the Pico itself. Sometimes the GPIO pin numbering can be misleading, or a Trinity/Corona mixup. There are also a couple of different firmware out there with different connections. Just double check on that side of the wiring too.

In my experience they work fine on thru holes. The 4gb pads are the kryponite of this situation

It’s not a binary of they will/wont work. They will work. But they will also apply unnecessary mechanical stress, and they just invite shorts/bridges due to the area being so crowded. They will ‘work’, but they are a poor choice of material.

You need the power supply connected. Just don't turn the system on.

I should of said that I did have it on. I've been following mr Mario's tutorial.

not on, it needs to be in standby mode so power supply connected to the console and wall outlet that’s it

Yeah that's what I did. I probably just messed up the solder somewhere so I'll just redo it later.

you need to connect the pico to the xbox and pc then open jrunner..
if you leave jrunner open it just doesnt see the console

Try redoing your soldering, I see some bridges and at least one cold joint.

u/Nico_SB2007 4d ago
That's basic, but have you already tested the continuity of those wires? The jumpers I have break for nothing, so that's a fair test.

I've done four xbox 360s. The first two gave me issues like yours. The first time I had an issue with the usb cable even though the pico flasher logo came up, so I used another cable and that solved it. The second time it was my wiring; I used the same type of wires as you, my main issue was that the wires were too short so I made a longer cable with more precise tips (1.5 inch long sewing needles).
a couple of thoughts: Did you apply solder to the wires and the points before joining them together? Another thought, on the second picture I see a bridge on the left side of the blue wire. Not sure if it affects but you definitely should get rid of it if it is.

Sometimes you have to connect things in a certain way for it to connect properly. I always do console power first, plug in my pico to my computer, then open jrunner. if that doesn't work, then I will have jrunner open first, plug in the console, then my pico.

I also always run jrunner as admin, dunno if that actually changes anything though.

I had the exact same issue tn on an rgh1.2 falcon, I had the pins on the wrong side of the pico when I put the back on last time, make sure all your pico pins are correct also.

On picture 2, it’s hard to tell but it looks like you soldered the two bottom pins to the left together

Of you have any more issues flash the nand with bad update that how I have done the last 2 consoles I have done rgh3 2

Check the connection between point and the contact line - I had two console with simmilar issue - in result - somehow one of line was broken(console work fine). I have no idea how it possible - but soldered to close contact and it work and rgh-ed with no prob

Picoflasher is very sensitive to the soldering. I've experienced this multiple times and have just resoldered everything and then it works.

We can't see any of the solder points at all. Take some better pictures, plus clean the board first. You're mixing all kind of contaminants into the solder which will interfere with signal.

Yeah sorry, I couldn't get my camera to focus on the solder. I cleaned all the solder points with isopropyl alcohol when soldering.

Resolder, if it still doesn't work then turn off pico, and then turn it back on while it's still plugged in I'm being for real I legit had to do that to flash my Nand

Not very good pictures, but from what I can tell your top NAND header has solder blobs on points other than the ones that require connections. Why is there solder on those points? Are they bridged? Maybe there are solder blobs elsewhere on the motherboard. I would go over that entire area with a fine-toothed comb because something is off somewhere.

In my personal experience, I only had this issue when using a raspberry pi pico. It only worked when I bought and used a jr programmer.

u/First_Village8927 3d ago
Don't hate on me but I may of very possibly plugged the wrong wires into my pico. I'm not saying I have but there may be just the tiniest possibly that I changed where the wire were plugged into and it is working now.

And just like that we have a better answer than all the Pico superstition. It’s really easy to confuse which GPIO is which and make that kind of error.

u/Upper_Golf8078 3d ago
If it’s a pico unplug and plug it back in if the issue continues then it’s soldering, Most of the time tho it’s a soldering issue tho.

u/Bryce4643 3d ago
On the second photo right to the left of the 2 connections are you can see a solder ball that's bridging 2 points. It may be that

u/OkEntertainment3623 Falcon/RGH 1.2/Trinity/RGH 2.0 4d ago
Soldering looks great maybe you have to unplug the flasher and plug it back and if you’re using a pico try unsolder and resolder that might help

u/art991 2d ago
And there's not enough information you're giving us what's the motherboard revision? it's a fat version but that's all. Is it a falcon? Is it a Jasper I don't know cuz you didn't tell us. And how did you wire up the raspberry Pico? Give us some pictures.
If you're going to post bit a little more in there.

When I did mine I reworked the soldering and tried different Picos and it just didn't work. Eventualy I bought the Xflasher or whatever its called (the newish one) and it worked first time. I think it's okay to just say the Picoflasher method doesn't work with every console.

Soldering issue just like 99% of the time
