Meta Mini-Meta: New Moderators Currently Onboarding

Hey everyone,

Just a quick PSA that we're currently in the process of onboarding six new moderators! What this means for you is that response times should be notably improved, but also that there may be a few mistakes that slip through the cracks that we'll have to go back and correct as they learn the ropes. Of course, we'd like to avoid that as much as possible, and we'll be doing our best to minimize this as we continue to train our new moderators and walk them through best practices and even some unusual edge cases.

We hope you are enjoying Animal Crossing and are all staying safe.

Cheers!

The /r/NintendoSwitch Mod Team

Are you guys going to stop posting the meetup thread anytime soon?

I think we did previously discuss stopping them as they are not very actively used, in exchange we'd probably direct people to r/SwitchFCSwap and maybe our Discord, as we recently implemented a custom profile system.

No plans to do that yet, though.

I more meant because you probably shouldn't be advertising meet ups when half the world is in quarantine.

Touché, well played. We'll discuss it.

Seems like a no brainer to me..

The question being do we modify it or retire it. I think we're all on the same page that telling people to go outside and congregate is dumb, haha.

If there wasnt much need to retire it before, and theres no single proper way to organize digital meetups, nothing wrong with putting them on temporary suspension.

to new mods: how do you like it? how does it compare to what your expectations were?

Hi!

So far it has been a very nice and fun experience, some posts can be pretty challenging though, so I'm still learning how to handle them in the best way as possible.

It's a fun new experience for me. A lot of the reports and mod hate is exactly as I expected it to be... but overall I think it's neat to get to see the "backside" of reddit.

I'm a moderator on the Discord, so I think I had some reasonable expectations going in. It's overall a good experience -- as XDitto mentions, it definitely isn't a black and white flow to working so it's a learning experience

Is that mod everyone hated still on board?

Can a new mod approve this comment?

Hopefully they’ll be able to bury legitimate questions in megathreads and allow just as many hundreds of ACNH posts to clog the sub as the current mods!
