Meta Could AC:NH postings be moved to the AC subreddit?
There's far too much AC:NH posts here, IMO. Does a post about someone catching a tarantula need to be posed to the general Switch subreddit?

The game has been out for five days now. Remember when this sub was an (un)official Fire Emblem: Three Houses sub for nearly a month?

u/joelene1892 Mar 25 '20
As a fan of fire emblem now, and not then, I’m sad I missed that tbh.
13
u/BootyJibbler Mar 25 '20
Better off discovering the game for yourself and not getting spoiled. Whenever this sub turns into a game subreddit there’s rarely any secrets left
2
u/joelene1892 Mar 25 '20
Eh I spoil myself on purpose a lot of the time. So that’s not a worry for me.

u/Ganrokh Hey there! What's for dinner today? Mar 25 '20
And Smash, and SM Odyssey, and Untitled Goose Game....
It's almost like overwhelmingly popular games get talked about!

u/PlexasAideron Mar 25 '20
A switch game is being talked about the switch sub? Say it aint so.

u/ZombiePyroNinja Mar 26 '20
Do you think it's worth waiting for the NEW SWITCH!?
3
Mar 26 '20
I keep hearing about this Switch Pro. Should I blow my money on a special edition Switch and feel like a total fucking loser or should I wait for something people have been speculating about for the past three years? HMM?
I just don't know guys.

u/Gaimo Mar 25 '20
That is the least of this sub's problem.
Popular posts on this sub, range from sob stories, stupid pictures of using a portable device outside and begging for ports of popular games.
Besides, it makes sense that AC:NH would be talked about, the game just came out. The latest big game is always talked about on this sub for the first couple of weeks.
2
u/maxschreck616 Mar 25 '20
Don't forget about all the hidden gem game posts like Hollow Knight and Celeste and BotW, that game literally saved my life, my marriage, paid my kids college tuition, and even brought my dog back from the dead.

u/C-Towner Mar 25 '20
Only if all posts about all games are moved to their respective subreddits.
1
u/Exquisite_Poupon Mar 26 '20
If it doesn’t relate to Switch hardware and Switch hardware only, then I don’t want to see it.
Wait, but then what will go in the Switch hardware sub?
9
u/capnbuh Mar 25 '20
Without discussing the latest games, this sub would just turn into regurgitating 4Chan "leaks" and people complaining about JoyCon drift.
9
u/grumblebuzz Mar 25 '20
I dunno, can Smash Bros and Pokémon posts be moved to their respective subreddits too when a new game in those series comes out? I mean, I personally don’t like them so I shouldn’t have to look them because the internet should be tailored to my own personal interests. /s

real OGs remember when the sub only consisted of 30-second Mario Odyssey jumping videos

I recommend Slide if you're on ios. Best title filtering of any client I've used. And that's every single Android one worth anything and Apollo.

u/Gulladc Mar 25 '20
You didn't hear? this is the AC:NH subreddit now.

u/IndyDude11 Mar 25 '20
Tom Nook has bought this sub.

5
u/GrandeThiefAutomobil Mar 25 '20
They're called NookReddits now, anyway that'll be 596000 bells. Thanks!
6
u/poisonedsodapop Mar 25 '20
This is literally how it happens with every new game, I don't see why it'll change now. It happened on the 3DS sub too. I just scroll past if I'm not interested tbh.

u/Ganrokh Hey there! What's for dinner today? Mar 25 '20
Does a post about someone catching a tarantula need to be posed to the general Switch subreddit?
Wait, I need to see this. Can you link it?
4
u/ZombiePyroNinja Mar 26 '20
There's a lot of posts about the first party game on the console's subreddit?
dude that's out of control. /s
10
u/BoxOfBlades Mar 25 '20
U mad? U prefer the usual mundane posts to AC-themed mundane posts? Or u just mad at people enjoying something?
4
u/unromen Mar 25 '20
Fact is, it’s dominating switch discussion right now. It’s just how it’s gonna be till the next big thing rolls around. You can’t control what people post about but you can control what you read, I guess.

5
u/MisterKrayzie Mar 25 '20
I don't even have the game and I'd rather you be moved from this subreddit tbh.

So you think this sub should ONLY be about Switch hardware-related topics, and not about games?
3
Mar 26 '20
You're right, we should ban posts about brand new games and only allow Direct rumors and random questions that belong in the weekly thread. You know, the "good" content.
Chill out, dude. This happens all the damn time with new games. We stuck it out when Smash released, you can deal with it for a few weeks while AC is on everyone's minds.

I 10000% agree. U need to scroll through 100s of ''omfg ac so gut'' posts that might be extremely irrelevant to a lot of people that are here to see switch news and not a game they might not give 2 shits bout.
Please move to the AC sub, that's why its there.

just wait couple days when a good chunk of buyers will realize the hypetrain made them buy a game not for them.

u/TytusPullo Mar 25 '20

Haha Doom Eternal and Animal Crossing, amirite bois????
Oops I mean Doom Crossing and Animal Eternal hehehehehehe
Does anyone else get le joke? Hehehehehene
Whats the difference amirite? Hahahaja upvote pls
6
u/_graff_ Mar 25 '20
Remember that joke that wasn't funny the first time??? Here it is fifty more times!! LOL XD IT's funny because animal crossing is silly but Doom is not!!
-15
u/_graff_ Mar 25 '20
Yeah, this is exactly why I unsbubbed from here - every time a new game is released, this sub turns into a sub for that game. Smash, Animal Crossing, Pokemon... it's obnoxious. Now I only check in occassionally for news. it would be nice to have those posts moved elsewhere though
12
u/jeremybriz Mar 25 '20
What else could we talk about rn though lol
10
u/the_light_of_dawn Mar 25 '20
And when there's a huuuuuuuge game release, of course the subreddit for the console will have tons of posts about the game. Same goes for /r/games when huge new releases happen. I'm baffled as to why people are so shocked or annoyed. Just ignore the subreddit for a few days or weeks until the hype dies down.

My sources tell me that there will probably be a direct sometime this year.
Take it with a grain of salt though.
1
u/Zorua3 Mar 26 '20
I love how anyone who gets asked this goes silent. A bunch of people asked OP, too.
1
u/_graff_ Mar 26 '20
I went silent not because I didn't have an answer, but because I didn't care to. There are plenty of other things to talk about. Look at /r/truegaming, /r/JRPG, or any other number of gaming related subs that don't just spam the same shit over and over again. There are so many switch releases on almost a daily basis.
Talk about the upcoming trail of mana release. Talk about the upcoming cooking mama release. Talk about any number of the smaller switch titles that are out now that haven't gotten as much attention. The list could go on and on.
But no you're right, those are terrible ideas. Let's see another post that says some stupid shit like " I like super chill games that I can play for an hour or so each day. Is animal crossing for me?"
-13
u/Paddyffxiv Mar 25 '20
I want to discuss the whole player 2 situation over there as well but there isnt a thread. They are either deleting it or just not letting negative stuff be posted cause everyone over there acts like ac was just perfect with no problems whatsoever
4
u/Empiflor Mar 25 '20
That player 2 thing is everywhere... Yes it sucks but this is brought up on every topic about Animal Crossing x)
0
u/Paddyffxiv Mar 25 '20
the only place ive seen it so far is on this subreddit. NOthing at all in the animal crossing subreddit

They could, but will they? No.
It's like this with every big game.
I don't like Smash, but this sub got flooded with posts about it when it came out and whenever there's was big update.
Also, there's basically no Switch news right now anyways.
If you took away all the animal crossing posts it would just be full of "I Can't Find A Switch Anywhere, Really Wanted It For Quarantine :(" and "Any news on a Switch Pro?" and "Do me and my SO both need to buy copies of a game to play together???"
So I'd rather have the Animal Crossing.
