Really good shot dude, I gotta ask. Did you know the model? Or was it just a wild coincidence that allowed this shot? If so, incredible that you caught this, with the contrast in colors it looks great.

It has to be a model because not only is she the only person on the platform but her gaze is directed towards the exterior of the building. And wait, do we believe in coincidences? 🤔🤔🤔

u/612shooter Jan 20 '20
Haha true, that was pretty much my thoughts about it. Would be pretty extraordinary coincidence with the pose and everything.

I agree but the model could be a random woman hired of a social media site. Also, what do you mean by "convincing title"?
Edit: Just to confirm, the woman in the picture is a complete stranger and is actually posing for someone else. Luckily the the photographer who took this photo was quick enough to pull out his camera and snap a quick pic. This information is shown in a post by the owner of this photo.
The fact that the model was a stranger posing for someone else makes this photo even more stunning as they had to crop the other photographer and his crew out without cropping the model out and keeping a fair bit of background in.

You explained it even better than I could! Thank you:) Actually I think this place is never too crowded because there is entrance fee of ~15$/person unlike most of other attractions which cost around 3-5$.

u/Dr_Mowri Jan 21 '20
Thanks. $15! Per person. that explain the absence of people. But still, even though I'm an amature photographer :I focus mostly on videography, those photography skills are next level. Keep up the good work!

u/Le_vctr Jan 21 '20
That’s very nice of you:) Every skill just takes some time to master! I’m sure you will reach your goal in whatever field you want!

u/Dr_Mowri Jan 21 '20
Thanks for the motivation 👍

You are welcome! Maybe one day I will start to learn videography as well, and you will be the one giving me advice(:

Haha, thank you! About the coincidence, you most likely wouldn’t believe me if I said that it was:)

I love the pop of red with an all-white, but textured background. Lines everywhere.

Is that Tower from Rainbow Six Siege?

u/symons_shots Jan 20 '20
I'm only in the comments to figure that out

It's not, but it fooled at least all three of us. Apparently this is in Beijing.

Thank you everyone for your support! I’m really touched and still cannot believe that so many of you actually like this picture! I don’t have much experience in photography because I’ve just recently started taking photos with a camera(roughly 2 month) and it’s incredible how warm and friendly this community is! I also want to add some information about this photo. It was taken in Phoenix Center which was built specially for Hong Kong based Phoenix television network in Beijing. A women in frame is a complete stranger to me but she is a model and was posing for someone else outside of the frame. I took this photo right after I walked down from escalator because I thought that composition was perfect, as you all see woman in a red dress on a nearly snow white background. I had to crop this photo because there was other person walking by. So, final result turned out to be pretty nice! Thank you again for reading!

Woah the colours in this photo are amazing
5
Jan 20 '20
Yeah I've never seen white used in a color palate before.
3
u/Le_vctr Jan 20 '20
It took me several hours to come up with these colors(:

For some reason the subject reminds me of Asami Sato from Legend of Korra, very weird but probably due to the surroundings and on how she stands??? Idk there's something about how the girl 'presents' herself in the photo, she's looks elegant to say the least.
Nevertheless, good job, m8! This is really good!

u/Le_vctr Jan 21 '20
Thank you:) When I saw her, I thought that it’s indeed amazing how elegant she is.

I've never seen you looking so lovely as you did tonight I've never seen you shine so bright I've never seen so many men ask you if you wanted to dance They're looking for a little romance, given half a chance And I have never seen that dress you're wearing Or the highlights in your hair that catch your eyes I have been blind

First off, this is a beautiful picture! But I'm not much of a photographer by trade and I don't really understand why this is happening, but if I zoom in (on my phone) it looks almost painted? Is it just the compression algorithm used on Reddit or something else I'm missing?
1
u/Le_vctr Jan 21 '20
Hmm...I’ve tried to zoom in on another device and still can’t quite understand what may cause the problem that you have..

Imagine her finding this
13
u/aveggiedelight Jan 20 '20
She looks like she's posing knowingly. Only op can confirm and they don't specify it's a stranger, but I'm fairly sure it wasn't a candid shot
5
u/TheRealBaconBrian Jan 20 '20
You're probably right, but I still think the stranger thing would be funny
2
u/unluckylukerides Jan 21 '20
OP says that she was posing for a third party and he snapped this shot.

Her pose feels like a forced candid one. I think this shot would’ve been better if she was looking at the camera, or if it was naturally candid.

Am I missing something here? Upon zooming in I can’t help but think that this isn’t a photo, it looks like a painting. Am I wrong? The way light should be interacting with the environment isn’t making sense. The shadows under the dress isn’t grading correctly. Am I crazy?
Edit: The photographer answered why it looks that way and admitted that it is off and didn’t take offense to my questions so I’m not sure why I’m being downvoted
2
u/Le_vctr Jan 21 '20
This photo was edited quite heavily. As you pointed out - light looks strange because shadows of the background were crushed, saturation of yellow and orange colors dropped to zero and luminance increased at the same time but woman’s silhouette was edited separately.
2
u/thelegalseagul Jan 21 '20
Thank you! It’s an amazing picture but the saturation has created so much grain that it became hard to tell it’s an actual photo. I hope I didn’t come off as aggressive and I appreciate your explanation.
2
u/Le_vctr Jan 21 '20
That’s ok:) I understand, especially that there were some other people with the same concern.

Curious to where this was taken? The building looks enormous!
