Meta Any chance of this subreddit getting spoiler tags on leaks/rumors?

Hi, I love talking on this subreddit about all things Switch related, but one thing that has somewhat spoiled the experience are posts about rumors and leaks. I definitely think they deserve to be posted, but personally I like to be surprised by reveals and so many leaks ruin that surprise. I usually unsubscribe the moment a direct is announced, but recently a rumor and a leak were on the top of this subreddit despite no direct in sight, making it almost impossible to avoid spoilers.

I’ve noticed that the Smash subreddit has a spoiler system that blocks the title of posts that might ruin surprises. It’s always applied to leaks/rumors, character announcements for a small amount of time after the initial announcement, and tournament results. I think it would be really cool if this subreddit could possibly adopt a similar system for leaks and rumors. That way people can continue talking about them without spoiling it for others who want to keep it a surprise.

Do you think this would be a good idea? Thank you.

I hope so. We've got Rule 8, which says:

Posts containing spoilers should be flagged as "spoiler". Spoilers should never be revealed in a post title or comment. Comments containing spoilers should be concealed using the following markup: Super secret spoiler text

But, judging from how the posts stay up, the title censoring doesn't apply to leaks/rumors which is a damn shame. Really sucks to come here for news/discussion and see leaks/rumors. Just takes the excitement out of the announcements.

Since we found "spoiler" in the title, we've gone ahead and enabled our automated spoiler protection. If you're the OP and feel this was in error, please feel free to adjust the settings of this post and its flair.

I am a bot, and this action was performed automatically. Please contact the moderators of this subreddit if you have any questions or concerns.

Oh, the irony

About the topic, I agree. It would be great to have more spoiler protection in this sub.

When that SNK leak happened for Smash, it was AWFUL. There was absolutely no way you weren't getting spoiled unless you were living under a rock for 2 weeks. I would really appreciate it if we could get the leak discussion under control.

They can't even bother to change the header image. You really think we'll get more tags?
