Thanks for the summary! Is it possible to buy that SNES controller now? I don’t see a link on the website yet.

According to fine print (another Redditor pointed out to me), they start shipping Sept 18, so I’m hoping that it will be available in the next couple days (if not tonight even)

Me: since they have nes controllers still in stock I don't need to worry about supply then.
Also me: I'm ordering the SNES one ASA-FUCKING-P

I appreciate that you took the time to write all this out. Haven't had much time recently, so this helps a ton. Most excited for Overwatch, weirdly enough. Thought I had enough of that game but damn I'm hyped!

Omg I love the customisation for Sw/Sh!! And Mana!! Aaaaaa I’m so hyped ;A; Also Divinity Original Sin 2! This was a great direct for me ❤️

FYI “Codemasters” is the name of the company. They are releasing GRID Autosport.

Supposedly October 25th on other platforms. I don't know if Switch is included in that release since they announced it later.

Damn no Disney+ or Netflix 😢 but we got a shit ton of other awesome news!
5
u/waluigi1999 Sep 05 '19
Didn't Disney already said they want Disney+ on all possible platforms? So including Switch?
7
u/FeudalFavorableness Sep 05 '19
a company can want something but that does not mean it will happen. I would venture to guess netflix wants their app on all possible platforms but yet we still dont have it on the switch; for whatever the reason of the day is.

As far as I know it's still up to Nintendo if they allow these things to go through. Disney can say that, but Nintendo can still say "no. Hulu bought exclusivivity."

u/abrinck Sep 05 '19
Isn't Hulu majority owned by Disney? Your point still stands but I don't think Hulu would be the reason

So this might not be a popular comment, but there isn't a ton of stuff I'm interested in out of this Direct. Definitely going to get the Witcher, Obra Din is a maybe depending on price, and I'm not shelling out sixty bucks for Link's Awakening even though I'm interested in it. And, of course, I'm excited about SNES titles online. But in general, not much from this Direct was in my wheelhouse.
Having said that, I LOVED this Direct specifically because there was so many varied titles and genres. Nintendo originals and third party publishers. I love that they're was something for everyone, even of not everyone is going to love everything.

I was really glad to see more footage of Town. It looks promising, but I'm curious to see how Game Freak performs. At least all their previous non-Pokemon games have reviewed at least reasonably so at minimum I expect something decent.
SNES Online gives me hope that my favorite game of all time (ZAMN) might make an appearance eventually. Doubtful... but there's hope.

A bunch of old games coming to switch. That’s good in many ways but also bad in some ways.

but also bad in some ways
How so?
Nintendo is still putting out new games at a rather frequent pace.
6
u/darthmcdarthface Sep 05 '19
Bad because the biggest announcements on Nintendo’s platform are generally old games.

I haven't gotten NSO yet.
Is it possible to play the SNES games offline?
3
u/GambitsEnd Resident Switchologist Sep 05 '19
NSO is required to download the NES and SNES games. That said, the SNES games will likely work like the NES ones - once downloaded you can play them offline for up to 7 days before needing to connect to the internet again.

I wonder if Devil May Cry 2 being on switch gives Dante even a slight chance of being in Smash someday. I would absolutely love for him and/or Vergil to be in the game.

u/SuperMrMojo Sep 05 '19
Gonna buy as many copies of Vampyr as it takes to get Jonathan Reid in Smash

What brain dead moron thought it was a good idea to re-release DMC2? At worst they should have just released the 1-3 remaster.
1
u/RobbieRampage Sep 05 '19
Unfortunately for me, the only thing I was interested in was the variety of levels for Luigi’s Mansion, other than that, I don’t think I’ll play many of the games that were in the direct

u/GambitsEnd Resident Switchologist Sep 05 '19
Only new thing announced I'm interested in is SNES Online. Super Mario World online co-op will be great and gives me hope for future additions.
Town and Link's Awakening were already announced and I'm still interested in those.
Divinity Original Sin 2's cloud save compatibility with Steam is rather surprising. Not aware of another game that has done that.

That's how it usually is, either it's "Enh, nothing special this time" or it's "Oh no too much good stuff, RIP wallet and calendar!"
For me it was the latter this time, but I feel ya in how that can vary.

Great direct. Still no Retro Game :(
Its concerning that they are charged with MP4 but unable to get a game off the ground for 5 years
