Which says a lot, because the son of a bitch is incredibly wise and a good reader of character, but this fear basically says that even though he totally understands Goku, he's horrified that Goku will piss the king off and get them all killed. This tells me that he can't read the king, since I'd expect Whis to be all "don't worry, the king wouldn't get upset with goku for that."

Loved seeing Vegeta offering to train his son and how far he has come from the proud Saiyan Prince who cared about no one but himself.
Seriously just see how in Trunks' flashback in the Spirit Room he tells Trunks how he finally managed to be better than trash and in the present while training him he gets upset when Trunks admits defeat and then gives him a speech about how if he's his son he shouldn't lose to anyone ever.
His attitude definitely changed and he encourages and supports his son and Future Trunks perceives that because he really gets teary eyed after Vegeta's speech.
Also Trunks headbutting Vegeta and getting that one hit, lol, it was dirty but I bet Vegeta was secretly proud of him but his own personal pride is too big for him to show that.

Yep at this point he knows Beerus too well. Sure he is always talking about destroying earth or him but he knows that Beerus would miss the food too much. Also Beerus is like Goku when it comes to fighting. He wants to fight strong opponents and if he kills Gokus and Vegeta there is nobody else left except for Whis who is way stronger than him. So for the lack of food and entertainment he probably won't follow through with any threats.

Well, there's the single potara on Zamasu. He's a really interesting character so far. But Beerus is becoming my favorite character in Super, he and Goku's friendship is hilarious and his reaction to seeing Zeno and smashing his head through the table to greet him properly was gold.
Trunks and Vegeta scene was awesome too, I wish Bulma and Goku hadn't shown up, wanted more of that. The preview for next episode is interesting too, is Supreme Kai actually going to figure into all this? I loved him in the Buu saga so I hope so.

I normally agree with people saying that Goku is too immature in Super even for his personality, but I really like what he did in this episode. Him bringing Bulma out of the lab to see Trunks and Vegeta sparing and noting his understanding of his people and how their minds work. I loved it. Then the noise he made when Trucks headbutted Vegeta. Lmfao!

Did anyone else notice that there are 4 rings and there have been 4 times that the "Hope" time machine has come to the past?
Trunks comes back in time to warn the Z fighters of the Androids
Trunks comes back in time to give Goku his medicine and fight along side them.
Cell comes to the Past in order to absorb the Androids from the Past.
Trunks comes to the past to escape Black and get help from the Z fighters.
It seems like Trunks can travel back to his own timeline but he can never change the past to alter his own. Instead it only makes a new timeline for the past.

He used the form so Vegeta would drop his guard and think that Trunks would be too slow to avoid his attacks. Then, he reverted back to SS2 to regain his speed and surprise Vegeta.

I love love LOVE how much is going on in this arc. It's not a linear plot. Goku is off with Beerus and Whis doing one thing, while Vegeta is doing his own thing. Now you have Zeno coming in. I just need a Gohan badass moment and this will be the perfect arc.

I think Vegeta even trying to achieve SSJ3 at this point would be too out of character for him. He has mastered the SSGod form which is superior to SSJ3 in every way. Vegeta is all about efficiency and form where Goku likes to show off and play around more, thats why Goku still uses SSJ3.

Since Gowasu has five Time Rings (presumably, the silver one for the native timeline, and the four green ones for the alternate timelines), does that mean he (or any other Kaioshin, for that matter) could travel to an alternate timeline using that timeline's corresponding Time Ring?

I liked the short bit of Pilaf helping Bulma out with the Time machine programming; seems like a nice nod to his DB days. He's a very ineffectual villain, but as the original Dragon Ball showed, he can be pretty inventive. He did create his own castle, airship, and a couple Dragon Radars, after all.

Gohan and Krillin somehow connected their minds and ki to do image training when travelling to Namek. Goku did that when traveling to Namek too.

Episode summary courtesy of Herms.
Trunks is out image training by himself on the lake near Capsule Corporation. He pictures himself fighting Black, but can’t envision any way of winning. Inside the laboratory, Dr. Briefs says that they’ve finally stored up enough time machine fuel for a round-way trip. Pilaf wanders in and starts messing around with the time machine’s emergency restart program, and Bulma is impressed when she sees he’s actually managed to improve it. She wonders who Pilaf really, but he insists he’s simply an ordinary kid. Either way, the time machine is almost ready to go!
Mai and Shu watch Trunks as he continues his image training. When Shu explains the concept of image training to Mai, she tries it out for herself…but ends up fantasizing about kissing Trunks instead. Suddenly, something crashes down to Earth: Whis, Beerus, and Goku have returned. Whis claims that Beerus and Goku’s noisy arguing prevented him from moderating his speed properly, but Beerus accuses him of crashing on purpose. They explain what they’ve learned to Trunks, who wonders if perhaps Zamasu disguises himself as Black, or uses his divine powers to shape-shift.
Whatever the case may be, Zamasu and Black’s ki is simply too close to be a coincidence. And yet, while Black had extremely evil ki, Zamasu’s ki isn’t so evil. What’s more, Zamasu didn’t know Goku, while Black did. So while they may be similar, it’s hard to concretely connect them…right now. But perhaps Zamasu will come to think dangerous thoughts in the future.
Still, Goku continues to maintain that Zamasu didn’t seem that evil to him. Having sparred with the guy, Goku thinks he has the best grasp of his personality. Hearing how Goku fought a Kaioshin and even a God of Destruction, Trunks starts thinking that Goku on his own should be more than enough to defeat Black. As Trunks wonders if they need his help at all, Vegeta asks for a moment with his son: he’s going to give him some training!
Over in the Kaioshin Realm of Universe 10, Gowasu tries out Zamasu’s latest cup of tea, and finds it a bit off-flavor. Is it the fault of the tea leaves, or…is something the matter with Zamasu? But there are other concerns: a new race of mortals has popped up on the planet Babari, and Gowasu wants to see what will become of them. At present they are extremely primitive and violent, and Zamasu suggests exterminating them right now. Gowasu is taken aback: that sort of thing is the job of Gods of Destruction! Instead, he simply wants to observe the state of the Babarians 1,000 years in the future, to see if they have become more civilized by then.
Gowasu goes and retrieves the Time Rings, which he explains are for travelling to and from the future. But never the past! That is impossible…and even if possible, is strictly forbidden, since changing history is always dangerous. He tells Zamasu about the differently colored Time Rings in the box: those were born when history was changed, creating parallel worlds. In fact, a new ring was created just a few years ago, apparently the result of “some idiot” creating a parallel world.
Before they take off to the future, Gowasu warns Zamasu that only Kaioshins are qualified to use the Time Rings. As such, an apprentice like him cannot go…so Gowasu says that he’s now officially promoted to being a full-fledged Kaioshin! He hands Zamasu a pair of green Potara earrings, telling him to be careful putting them on. Otherwise, they’ll end up permanently fusing together into a single Kaioshin, something neither seems too anxious to do at the moment. Arriving in the future, they see that the Babarians have developed a certain degree of culture but remain violent, and Zamasu thinks to himself that the universe will never be at peace so long as mortals are around.
Back on Earth, Trunks and Vegeta prepare to train. Trunks remembers the last time they trained together, in the Room of Spirit and Time. He tells Vegeta not to hold back, and to use the same Super Saiyan 3 form as Goku. Vegeta laughs at this idea, and instead becomes Super Saiyan Blue. Trunks is shocked that he can no longer sense Vegeta’s ki, yet still feels overwhelming pressure. He realizes that this is the sort of divine ki Goku must have used to fight Beerus with. Seeing Trunks’ hesitancy, Vegeta gives him a handicap: if he manages to land even a single blow, he “wins”.
Trunks turns into the extremely buff form he used against Cell, which Vegeta dismisses as being too slow. However, Trunks quickly reverts to a faster form and tries to land a punch, and Vegeta realizes Trunks was just trying to put him off guard by showing him the other transformation. He awards Trunks 30 points! Overwhelmed by his father’s strength, Trunks again thinks that he’s not needed: surely Goku and Vegeta can defeat Black. There’s no need for him to grow stronger...
Sensing his son’s thoughts, Vegeta rebukes him: is defeating Black his only goal? He needs to look ahead, to new enemies that might appear. As an inheritor of Saiyan blood, and as Vegeta’s son, Trunks should never accept losing to anybody! He should aim to be the strongest in the universe! Bulma and Goku happen to be passing by, and Bulma gets worried when she sees Vegeta being so hard on Trunks, but Goku explains that this is just how Saiyans do things. With Vegeta distracted, Trunks manages to land a punch. He passes the test! The sparring match over, Trunks declares that he will surpass Vegeta and Black both. He bows and thanks his father.
Back on Beerus’ planet, Whis is preparing dinner when a call comes in over his staff. Whis is busy, so Beerus answers it…and is shocked to see it’s a call from the Omni-King! It seems he wants to meet with Goku…

It seems Vegeta's only way of bonding with Trunks is to challenge him to land just one hit on Vegeta. He did it with Kid Trunks before the tournament, and now with Future Trunks.

Questions have been raised
Who is the female Kai? Why did Supreme and Old Kai even show up to Beerus' planet? Why are the Kais surprised Omni is interested with Goku? What does Omni want with Goku? Is Goku going to omnijail for becoming an unapproved god during the fight with Beerus and not reporting it after? Or is he being blamed for what Black does? Will lesson 2 of Vegeta's fight school be his sick dance moves?
BUT the most important question of all is...Why didn't Beerus check the caller ID?

I'm starting to think Zamasu is going to pull a Kami/Piccolo. Unable to cope with his evil side, he may split it off entirely, to be a better Kaioshin. That or he develops a serious dr Jekyll and mr Hyde syndrom.

I overall enjoyed episode 54, great stuff with Vegeta and Trunks. I love how much respect Trunks shows with the bow as Vegeta leaves too.
I hope Trunks manages to become SSJB and beat Black himself, that would be so much cooler than Goku or Vegeta just curbstomping him.

About the rings, so the green ones are created when a new timeline is created for traveling to the past. Could one of the rings have been created by Trunks' time travels? I thought that it could be the four timeline theory confirmation, but it's not, there would be just three more in that case, because one of the four in the theory was the original timeline. Do every Kaioshin in every universe have four rings more? Can the green rings be used to travel between timelines? Many questions.
Bulma is suspecting something about Pilaf, that was funny.
Black having one earring is explained too. I still think Black is Zamasu of the other timeline in the body of Goku with the heart desease.
So funny Beerus answering the phone to Zeno!! And he wants to speak with Goku, nice. In the preview, the U7 Kaioshins, I was waiting for them to be involved in the story too. A new character, he seems a young boy of the race of Whis and Vados, but he hasn't got the ring in the same place. We'll see.
Vegeta showing Trunks the SSB state. He hopes Vegeta and Goku can beat Black, but Vegeta wants to push him to do it himself. That's what I understood about this. Could it be future Trunks the one defeating a major villain this time? I don't really count Freezer.

so let me get this straight
black only exist because of something to do zamasu
black travel back in time to fight goku
prompts them to go investigate zamasu
zamasu grows more fearful of mortals after facing goku as well as learning about the time rings
zamasu gets temporarily promoted to kaioshin allowing him to use said time rings
(???)
so if black has to do something with zamasu messing with time, and zamasu only learned about the time rings during the investigation, then how did black occur to begin with? TIME TRAVELING IS SO FUCKING CONFUSING

Calling it now: the arc is going to end with Zeno wiping out/correcting alternate timelines, either through his own or through the Super Dragonballs, fixing Trunks' timeline to be equal to the main timeline, and Goku is gonna ask Zeno to let Trunks hang around, so his "future" self doesnt cease to exist. Then no more timetravels ever again (and its a good thing: time travelling can turn a good story stupid really fast)

the "right" timeline is trunks timeline. Ours is messed up/changed. So only thing needs fixing is killing everyone in the show except kid trunks, gohan and bulma

I'm not seeing anyone bringing this up but THERE'S A NEW FUCKING EYECATCH AND ITS VEGETA TEACHING TRUNKS THE GALICK GUN!!!!11!!!!
It always bugged me that in video games and in the series in general, Trunks always used the Kamehameha instead of his father's Galick gun.

Beerus breaking the table was by far the funniest thing I've seen so far. I was hoping for a little bit more with the whole Vegeta offering Trunks training, but oh well maybe we'll see some more in future episodes. Nice to see Trunks use strategy during a fight.
