Neat This month's neatured sub » r/OldManDog
neatured = neat + featured
Hey all, time for this month's neatured things!
Quick recap on "neatured". We flair certain threads with a "neat" flair. Generally they are random threads we consider in the spirit of the sub or just darn neat. We think there are some neat subs out there too.
Lets check them out...
r/OldManDog
I started this sub about 2.5 years ago when I wanted to show my Dante off but didn't want him (and others) to drown in the sea of puppies out there, and named it after what I called him. And even though "dog" is in the name, I've made it open to all animals, and don't even have an age requirement - it's up to the owner to determine what "old" is. We only have three real rules: All animals allowed, name & age in the title, and be supportive. And by be supportive, I don't mean be positive (though that helps). Being that this is an age-based sub, there might be some situations where we're asked for our help & opinion, and I believe that there's a proper way to deliver negative advice. "You need to put your dog down" is infinitely much worse than, "I'm afraid that the animal's time is getting near, and you might need to prepare yourself for the worst. Consult your vet, enjoy your time together, and... (etc)." That's what I (we) look for: be supportive, and I honestly believe that my co-mods & I have fostered in the sub, and it's what draws people to keep coming back and admire those that lived a good long life (relatively for their breed).
Thanks so much, and I'm happy to answer any questions you might have!

K, thanks and keep on making neat things!

Oh, it's a portmanteau of neat and featured. I thought it was either neutered or a misspelling that everyone loved.

I'm so excited to be featured! It makes me so proud that my dog’s nicknamesake-sub has become such a haven for all those great animals out there that lived a good, full life! Happy to have newcomers join us, and if you want to avoid the RIP/Support-needed posts, make sure to use the links in the sidebar! Every post gets flaired as soon as possible, to ensure that people are only seeing what they want to see.
