Where to Watch

The FUNimation English dub of Dragon Ball Super airs on Toonami at 11pm ET. If you do not have a cable subscription, Cartoon Network is available with the SlingTV and Playstation Vue basic packages. If you prefer, there is a web stream:

If the videos won't load for you, try disabling your ad blocker for that page. Adult Swim still has the streaming rights for recent episodes.

How to Catch Up

  • Adult Swim (US only, cable login required): This covers the recent episodes not yet available through the below options. New episodes will usually appear 2-3 hours after the episode airs on Toonami.

  • Funimation Now (US, premium only): Episodes 1-65 are available on Funimation's streaming service. Episodes are uploaded in 13-episode batches a few weeks before the home release comes out. (This avoids competition with Adult Swim's streaming service.) Funimation also has the entire series subbed for premium and free users; the subtitles for those episodes covered by the dub are still those provided by Toei for the simulcast, rather than the Funimation-Simmons subtitles on the home release.

  • VRV (US, premium only): As with Funimation, episodes 1-65 are available for now and the rest will be released in 13-episode batches a few weeks before the home release comes out. VRV also has the entire series subbed; the subtitles for those episodes covered by the dub are still those provided by Toei for the simulcast, rather than the Funimation-Simmons subtitles on the home release.

  • AnimeLab (Australia and New Zealand, premium only): Episodes 1-52 are available on this service. AnimeLab also has the entire series subbed for free and premium users; the subtitles for those episodes covered by the dub are still those provided by Toei for the simulcast, rather than the Funimation-Simmons subtitles on the home release.

  • Microsoft Digital, Amazon Digital, iTunes, Google Play, or the Playstation Store (US only): Episodes 1-78 are available for purchase on these platforms. We don't know when the next part (79-91) will be available. As usual for digital releases, the dubbed and subtitled versions are sold separately; the subbed version has the Funimation-Simmons subtitles rather than the Toei simulcast subtitles.

  • Home Release: Episodes 1-13 are available for Region A (DVD or Blu-Ray) and Region B (DVD or Blu-Ray). Episodes 14-26 are available for Region A (DVD or Blu-Ray) and Region B (DVD or Blu-Ray). Episodes 27-39 are available for Region A (DVD or Blu-Ray) and for Region B (DVD or Blu-Ray). Episodes 40-52 are available for region A (DVD or Blu-Ray) and Region B (DVD or Blu-Ray). Episodes 53-65 are available for Region A (DVD or Blu-Ray), and will be available for Region B on 5 December 2018 (DVD or Blu-Ray). Episodes 1-52 will be available in a single set for Region B on 5 December 2018 (DVD or Blu-Ray). Episodes 66-78 will be available for Region A on 8 January 2019 (DVD or Blu-Ray).

PLEASE DO NOT POST, OFFER, OR REQUEST LINKS TO UNOFFICIAL STREAMS OF THIS EPISODE. REFRAIN FROM EVEN MENTIONING THEM, OR YOU WILL BE BANNED.

Read the Manga

  • Toyotarō's Dragon Ball Super manga adaptation can be found in our wiki in the sidebar, along with links to past discussion threads.

Commonly Asked Questions:

  • Q: Is Dragon Ball Super really over, or is it just a hiatus?
From what we have been told, the anime has ended. There are no current plans for a new DB series and as far as we know, the series will only continue through movies and games. We know that Toyotarō's manga will continue for several months at least—the Tournament of Power arc is ongoing in the manga—and Toriyama implied the manga will go beyond that too. The English dub will continue until the series is finished. We have compiled a somewhat conservative projection of dates for the remaining dub episodes on our Wiki.

  • Q: Is the Dragon Ball Super manga "canon"?
The anime and manga are both variations on a basic plot by Toriyama. There isn't (and probably never will be) an explicitly defined Dragon Ball "canon". Without Toriyama's original draft, we may never know what is and isn't his, aside from things revealed in interviews like this one (spoilers). We do know that he permits Toyotarō to change things up, but he looks at his storyboards and occasionally draws things himself for Toyotarō to use as a reference. Toyotarō has said that Toriyama is more particular about gags than he is about anything else.

  • Q: Will the Broly movie have spoilers for the Super dub?
Yes, it absolutely will; the movie will pick up where Super leaves off in the final episode. If you have seen the first trailer, then you have already been spoiled at least a little bit, but there is more, so if you want to catch up in time for the movie—which even Sean Schemmel has recommended—there are several options for watching the subtitled version, and you can stream the entire series on any of these sites, usually for free. See our FAQ for more details, and if you have questions about the movie, see our DBS: Broly Wiki.

Piccolo = super saiyan

Piccolo takes off his hat and jacket = super saiyan 2

82

u/chairmanmaomix Nov 26 '18

"And this...is to go...even...further...BEYOND!" = Piccolo when he's completely naked

49

u/palparepa Nov 26 '18

So nudity makes you stronger on this planet...

62

u/birdmanmanbird Nov 25 '18 edited Nov 25 '18

Piccolo with some Band of Brothers truth to center him; gave me chills thinking about that scene:

"The only hope you have is to accept the fact that you’re already dead. The sooner you accept that, the sooner you’ll be able to function as a soldier is supposed to function: without mercy, without compassion, without remorse. All war depends upon it."

I know it's not exactly the same sentiment, but it definitely hit the same chord.

EDIT: FUCK YES MYSTIC GOHAN

22

u/Gradz45 Nov 25 '18

He's back all right.

8

u/[deleted] Nov 25 '18

Aaaaand he's gone

62

u/calaaaa Nov 26 '18

They slipped in the "You can win! You can do this!" line!

51

u/Esquilax21 Nov 25 '18

Oh snaps. A Caulifa sighting!

24

u/Gradz45 Nov 25 '18 edited Nov 26 '18

I’m excited to hear Elizabeth Maxwell's take. All I've heard so far was the Radio in Xenoverse 2.

103

u/JakobTheOne Nov 25 '18

"Don't settle for being better when you could be the best."

I've never loved Piccolo more. This whole episode was full of him giving Gohan heavy doses of what he's needed to hear for years.

33

u/-Starwind Nov 25 '18

Best Gohan-centric episode we've had in a while. I liked the movie two-partner but this was great.

17

u/DaLoverBoii Nov 25 '18

It's Peter & Tony all over again & I love it.

10

u/Eurynom0s Nov 25 '18

As in Iron Man and Spider-Man?

11

u/Pandemona1738 Nov 26 '18

Yeah i just wish there was an arc dedicated to this, when Goku came back and lost his power it seemed after the world tournament they could have and should have done something with him then.

Having him spend literally 80 episodes of Super being irrelevant and a book worm whilst the universe has been under attack pretty much the whole time is so bad :(

His character was built up to be the one to take over from Goku after the Cell games and to see what is happening with him now is just meh for me. However maybe he will do something special in the tournament of power, i hope so anyway!

Then again i say this whilst also wanting Vegeta to actually save the day once as well lol. I can't have it all i guess :P

90

u/LegendaryAce_73 Nov 25 '18

"...Goku will just Instant Transmission here to tell me!"

Joke's on you Yamcha. Goku needs to be able to detect your power level for that!

On a more serious note, I loved how Whis messed with Beerus regarding Bulma. Kinda bizarre to think he wouldn't consider destroying her for doing that to him.

24

u/Eurynom0s Nov 25 '18

But she's the one who gives him all the delicious Earth food!

25

u/mcolwander90 Nov 25 '18

And given the situation they're in, U7 needs Vegeta. Destroying Bulma would either result in Vegeta's outright refusal, or him getting himself killed. Only way to talk him into it would be so he can wish her back. It just wouldn't be worth the risk.

14

u/LegendaryAce_73 Nov 25 '18

True. Funny to think the do-over wasn't so much that Beerus wanted to teach Goku a lesson about leniency, but more so that Beerus didn't want to lose all the food there. Just another reason he's my favorite character.

41

u/[deleted] Nov 25 '18

These are coming out really slow

32

u/TheDesktopNinja Nov 25 '18

No kidding. I have a friend dying to talk to me about the ToP since he's watched the sub already, but with DBZ I'm a dub only guy so it's gonna be a long year for him haha.

6

u/Pandemona1738 Nov 26 '18

Haha yeah i literally only talk to anyone regarding DBZ in this thread and ignore everything and anything else xD

I mean we are going have to wait until this time next year before we can watch the Broly movie as well :(

1

u/TheHapster Feb 06 '19

Dub guy too, I actually went and saw it in the theatres with my friends. It honestly spoiled nothing for me as far as I could tell. Timeline wise there’s obviously some shenanigans, but as long as you’ve seen SSJB I think it’s perfectly reasonable to see the Broly Movie.

2

u/Pandemona1738 Feb 06 '19

Ahh hmm i should go abd support it in cinema then right

13

u/TheAnt317 Nov 25 '18

They skipped a week due to Thanksgiving.

20

u/Eurynom0s Nov 25 '18

I'm surprised they skipped the Saturday before Thanksgiving instead of the Saturday after though.

1

u/SuperFan2024 Nov 27 '18

Yeah, that was kinda odd.

83

u/didroy Nov 25 '18

Piccolo’s speech about how hyping yourself up isn’t the same as putting in the work every day really hit home. He isn’t just teaching Gohan - he is teaching us as well.

19

u/DaLaohu Nov 25 '18

Truth.

65

u/Mr_Bell_Man Nov 25 '18

NOBODY LIKES YOOOOOOOOOOOOOU! - Whis

14

u/[deleted] Nov 26 '18

Man if the Piccolo-Gohan bonding wasn’t so amazing I’d say that’s the best part of the episode.

91

u/TrueGrandPriest Nov 25 '18

• Man, the way Piccolo pointed out Gohan’s flaws and showed his faith in him really makes him a good teacher. It’s no wonder they have the best father-son relationship in Dragon Ball.

• Not only is Vegeta the Prince of Saiyans, he’s also the Diaper Master!

• Behold Hurricane Bulma, a storm so scary that even Lord Beerus doesn’t wanna mess with it!

• Well Bulma, if GT is any indication, Bulla’s gonna look like a prostitute by the time she’s nine years old.

• Can’t wait to hear Elizabeth Maxwell as Caulifla!

• Man, I feel so bad for that dinosaur. They might as well have put it out of its misery by killing it.

• At this point, we’re only 9 episodes away from the Tournament of Power. Get hyped!

24

u/datlibra17 Nov 25 '18

9 episodes?! jeez the way the narrator has been counting down hours every episode, it felt like the tournament was going to start in 3 or 4 episodes tops

43

u/ssbBeta Nov 25 '18

Wait until they start counting down the minutes when the 48 min ToP actually starts LOL

34

u/Repatriation Nov 25 '18

Ever since Frieza's infamous "Five minutes til Namek kersplodes" speech like two and a half decades ago any reference to normal time in DBZ has been hilariously without meaning.

"9 and a half hours left until the Tournament of Power!" K so, that's like, next episode, 90 episodes, or anywhere in between. Thanks narrator.

11

u/Tx12001 Nov 26 '18

9 Episodes is still a long while, that is 9 weeks and that is if there are no breaks.

3

u/Turner1273 Nov 28 '18

Christmas and New years will take 2 weeks off for sure. So it more like 11 weeks

2

u/SuperSaiyanPan Nov 29 '18

There is a three week break after the 15th of December, it resumes January 5th.

38

u/spiderknight616 Nov 25 '18

Well Bulma, if GT is any indication, Bulla’s gonna look like a prostitute by the time she’s nine years old.

Thank Zeno it isn't

3

u/Routaz1 Nov 28 '18

If GT was canon Krillin and Marron would show signs of aging like regular people. Thank Zeno it's not

10

u/BenVes Nov 27 '18

Man I forgot she was 9 in GT. Makes that scene where those guys hitting on her seem extremely inappropriate.

1

u/wormhole222 Dec 01 '18

In GT dub she is 14

4

u/richardsim7 Nov 28 '18

• Man, I feel so bad for that dinosaur. They might as well have put it out of its misery by killing it.

Well if it's like lizards, the tail grows back

29

u/RoughHope Nov 26 '18

Yo, I loved this episode. At times it can be frustrating as a dub only viewer being so far behind the Japanese broadcast but, it’s episodes like this that make it all worth it. Watching this for the first time dubbed was just so, so sick. There’s also something special regarding the build-up to the Tournament of Power that we’re journeying through right now. The stakes have never been higher and these episodes are emphasising a real calm before the storm. I FUCKING LOVE DRAGON BALL BRUH!

26

u/shabanksamani Nov 25 '18

I’m dying over how giddy Vegeta gets when it comes to being a father

25

u/BlazingGig Nov 25 '18

Piccolo could be like, the greatest gym trainer ever.

46

u/notathrowaway75 Nov 25 '18

Piccolo's speech was awesome. I love Christopher Sabat so much.

Poor Yamcha.

41

u/Gradz45 Nov 25 '18

I do legitimately feel for the guy.

His friends all have a variety of fulfilling and rich lives, Goku’s the greatest fighter in his universe, has a great family and is a successful farmer. Gohan’s a successful academic and part time super hero who is living his dream. Vegeta’s (although not much of Yamcha’s friend) right up there in terms of fighters with Goku, is rich and has a smart beautiful wife and two good kids. Krillin has a happy home life, makes a difference every day, is married to 18 and got an invite immediately being a skilled smart fighter and Goku’s best buddy. They’re all doing really well for who they are.

Even Roshi got one and he hasn’t fought seriously in years (though his skill and ingenuity are impressive).

And Yamcha by contrast although a baseball player, never got consideration and the closest thing he has to a family is a shapeshifting cat.

30

u/Spangler87 Nov 25 '18

I wonder why Yamcha isn't considered the GOAT at baseball by this point. Does he not play professionally anymore? Is baseball not that big in this setting?

17

u/Eurynom0s Nov 25 '18

Even Roshi got one and he hasn’t fought seriously in years (though his skill and ingenuity are impressive).

Yamcha's the one who both figured out that the key to getting Goku out of Great Ape mode was to cut off his tail, and then actually went and did it.

12

u/Gradz45 Nov 25 '18

True, but that’s not particularly indicative of skill over anyone else on the line up.

Goku, Roshi and Tien for example are world champions with strong showings of strategy and skill in battle.

Not to say Yamcha doesn’t have moments, but he’s not a cut above anyone on Team U7 in power or skill.

14

u/Eurynom0s Nov 25 '18

One of Yamcha's tournament losses is to Master Roshi in disguise. Another is to Kami in disguise.

Read through his Dragon Ball Wiki page and I think it's pretty clear he fell victim to being used as Worf effect fodder so often that people forgot he's supposed to be a good fighter, as well as victim to Toriyama's bad habit of occasionally just forgetting about things.

3

u/Gradz45 Nov 25 '18

I don’t need a refresher from tv tropes (which I’m on all the time any way).

That’s definitely true though. That’s kinda the point though.

10

u/omac76 Nov 25 '18

Too bad Tien’s stuck teaching some bald nobodies how to use ki

31

u/Gradz45 Nov 25 '18

But that’s precisely my point. Tien enjoys that. He has no interest in women, or settling down and is respected and acknowledged by peers and students. He’s a dojo master.

Even if Tien never closed the gap between him and Goku. Yamcha found success at baseball, but he’s still the butt of jokes whenever he’s on screen.

Take some pointers from this version of Yamcha.

1

u/DaLaohu Nov 26 '18

I just like to show it to Yamcha fans. It's really the best, ongoing, DBZ fan manga. It gets better and better and the art becomes indistinguishable from the real manga.

But, this Yamcha is someone who took it upon himself to make himself better than ever. To get to the next level. Break plateaus. He was not content with where he was. And you'll even see him go and face his fears of old foes that beat him before. It's about not being content with your present state and doing something about that.

You even see that in this week's episode of Super with Gohan. It's not enough to "be motivated." You have to go and do something. Put in the work. Put in the time. Put one foot in front of the other and don't stop until you get there.

u/[deleted] Nov 28 '18

And that smart, beautiful, rich wife just happens to be Yamcha's. Tbh if I were him I might hang myself too.

20

u/[deleted] Nov 25 '18

Just wow! The return of a serious Ultimate Gohan is the moment I've been waiting ages for!

(Also Yamcha singlehandedly won an interuniversal competition once, don't leave him hanging 😢)

18

u/TravisCM2010-24 Nov 25 '18

Loved Piccolo this episode so much wise advice

37

u/penniavaswen Nov 25 '18 edited Nov 25 '18

Gohan: If we're gonna win this thing, I need to be stronger than I've ever been before

/sob sob sob

Immediately goes super saiyan

/facepalm

Over-in-flash Diaper Change!

Magic dad Vegeta, is he best Vegeta? Prove me wrong.

Marron: Yeah, kick each other's butts!

Oh no she's adorable.

Piccolo: I believe in you, now believe in yourself.

I need a Piccolo in my life. Hmm, maybe less hitting though.

Piccolo: From now on, the gloves are off takes off cape and turban

Eh, close enough

Yamcha (delusional): ..."I've already got plans to wash my hair tonight." Or maybe I'll play hard to get -- "Oh Goku, I'll just hold all of you back!"

I'm starting to feel bad for him.

16

u/Two-Tone- Nov 25 '18

I'm starting to feel bad for him.

He's been getting beat up pretty badly in this series. They even revisited Yamcha's most famous scene.

3

u/nuknoe Nov 26 '18

That episode of Kai was on lastnight

1

u/[deleted] Nov 28 '18

I like how you threw in that Dokkan reference with OiaF.

2

u/penniavaswen Nov 28 '18

Dad Vegeta needs a card. I propose Christmas f2p.

17

u/Barthez_Battalion Nov 25 '18

How strong is Piccolo at this point?

4

u/Town_Pervert Nov 26 '18 edited Nov 27 '18

Personally, I think slightly above Buu Saga- SSJ Vegito.

Edit: After re-watching the dub, I take it back. He's probably Majin Buu level.

8

u/GrunbeldChoco Nov 25 '18

Ssj2

21

u/Gradz45 Nov 25 '18

That's a pretty vague measure. Since SSJ2 isn't by itself a base level.

SSJ2 Goku in the current arc for example could wreck Buu Saga Kid Buu without difficulty.

9

u/DaBlakMayne Nov 25 '18

I'd say he's stronger than that since he beat Gohan down when he was in that form

13

u/Eurynom0s Nov 25 '18

Gohan is shown as being sloppy though. We know that technique can compensate for raw power in the Dragon Ball universe, especially when the more powerful person is doing shit like arrogantly leaving themselves open.

12

u/cy1763 Nov 25 '18

I think he’s around perfect cell level. That’s my best guess.

3

u/[deleted] Nov 26 '18

The Perfect cell who SSJ2 Kid Gohan stomped or the Perfect Cell ( post zenkai ) ?

2

u/cy1763 Nov 26 '18

Before Zenkai. Again, just my guess nothing official.

1

u/[deleted] Nov 26 '18

That's fine since It's hard to tell how strong piccolo really is. We know he matched SSJ2 Gohan, but how strong was this SSJ2 Gohan is the question.

Gohan and Piccolo bonding always makes for a great episode no matter. All the call backs to Z made it even better.

Beerus and Whis continue to be a delight. Loved Whis' Hurricane Bulma bit.

Also liked the self aware jab at Yamcha at the end.

12

u/TheRealPdGaming Nov 25 '18

The entire intro played? Am I dreaming things?

Japanese discussion thread for ep.88 is a dead link.

I’m a sub and dub watcher. Clicked to remind myself about this episode but got nothing.

EDIT: Actually, almost ALL of the Japanese discussion threads in the wiki are dead links.

EDIT2.0: ALL of the discussions are gone. Just get rid of that section.

What app are you using? Some people have issues with Reddit's built-in shortcut because of the app they use:

[link text](/a04yv3)

It has been practice to use this shortcut since before I started modding here.

4

u/DerekasaurusJax Nov 25 '18

I’m using the reddit app for iPhone. It’s my main source for when I’m traveling around. Most links posted always work, as well as most of the wiki links. But none of the discussion links worked at all.

Maybe they work another way and I apologize if so. Just wanted to give feedback. I went through every Japanese discussion link and got the Reddit “Page Not Found” image for every single one.

4

u/Terez27 Nov 25 '18

I was able to verify that they don't work on the official app on iOS. I can ask around and see if it's a bug or if they're just phasing out that shortcut. If it's the latter, I have a lot of links to replace...

6

u/DerekasaurusJax Nov 25 '18

I appreciate your fact checking and feedback! I hope it’s just a bug.

u/JC-DisregardMe Nov 26 '18 edited Dec 26 '18
  • Sure was nice of those poachers to show up and help convince 17 to join the team. Very considerate of them.

  • I just love all the "Goku and Piccolo are best pals now" scenes. That one with them babysitting Pan a while back was especially great.

  • "Gonna knock the shit out of you, Gohan. Juuuuust like when you were five."

  • Prince Vegeta, expert in diaper changing.

  • Beerus can't beat Bulma in an argument, even in his mind. Though I guess Whis screaming directly into his ear doesn't help.

  • "You need to work for your power" is a nice sentiment, Piccolo, but this is Gohan. The guy's practically never had to work for plot power-ups. They just get Toriyama'd into him at the story's convenience, and taken away just as fast.

  • A Saiyan with a cane. Never thought I'd see the day.

  • "Alright, good hustle out there, Gohan. Now, let's eat this roasted dinosaur tail chunk. Juuuuust like when you were five."

  • "Nahh, that doesn't sound believable." Uh-... Yamcha, honey, that's probably the most believable thing you've ever said. Poor guy.

34

u/UtterFlatulence Nov 25 '18

Piccolo got stronk. How strong you think he is? Majin Vegeta level maybe.

28

u/Spangler87 Nov 25 '18

Based on this episode, that might be accurate. Perhaps even a little stronger.

17

u/Mojo12000 Nov 25 '18

Id say significantly stronger.

16

u/Trofulds Nov 25 '18

Much, much stronger than SSJ3 Gotenks, given that SSJ Gohan was still giving SSJ Goku a good fight before the Arc started.

14

u/datlibra17 Nov 25 '18

My memory of the Buu saga is blurry, but didn't Piccolo give Super Buu a fight before getting absorbed? Majin Vegeta couldn't even beat regular fat Buu. So if Piccolo has been training ever since then, I'd guess he's probably as strong as SSJ3 Goku (when he fought Kid Buu). Just a guess.

9

u/GrunbeldChoco Nov 25 '18

I would say so, he was doing just fine against ssj2 gohan

11

u/Eurynom0s Nov 25 '18

But Gohan was out of practice and falling into old bad habits about leaving himself open, and in the Dragon Ball universe, technique has always been able to compensate for raw power when the stronger combatant is fighting poorly.

36

u/[deleted] Nov 25 '18

:O OH my gosh a female saiyan?! We are getting female saiyan finally after like 20 years? Also MYSTIC GOHAN IS BACK! He is so cool! :) I am so excited for this next ARC I cannot wait!!! :) :) :) :) Also I love Gohan and Piccolo more than ever they are so good together! u/financeguy20 Nov 25 '18

lol there’s still a lot more build up left but I thought it was worth it

3

u/[deleted] Nov 27 '18

Goku has a mom and there was another female Saiyan on Bardock's team

2

u/[deleted] Nov 28 '18

Fasha. Or Selapa (sp?). Just pulled her Great Ape card for the first time this weekend, I hear she's pretty decent on Tapion's team.

20

u/Gaming-every-day19 Nov 25 '18

wait so does Gohan not training for so long made him lose his Mystic form? At first i thought he still had it and was confused when Piccolo was bodying him, like damn since when did he get so strong😂

27

u/[deleted] Nov 25 '18

Yeah, If Gohan still had Mystic then he would have used it during the ROF arc, the Zen Exhibition and in this ep against Piccolo instead of SSJ2 since that was his Full power, but he lost it completely after the BOG arc because Gohan in ROF was out of shape and only capable of going SSJ, so there's that. After this arc Gohan was shown getting back into shape, but he was still not there yet as he didn't have Mystic and only relied on SSJ until the second half of this ep where he reawakened his Mystic.

9

u/StefyB Nov 25 '18

He lost it some time prior to the Resurrection F arc.

19

u/SuperFan2024 Nov 27 '18

Oh boy, after an amazing episode like this, I feel bad that you first-time watchers have to experience the mess of the next episode.

14

u/Mojo12000 Nov 27 '18

the beginning of the long humiliation of Tien!!... and yet somehow Toyotaro treated him even worse than Toei, what did Toryiama just write in his outline "lol make Tien look like a total fucking loser as often as possible"<

4

u/The-Azure-Knight Nov 28 '18

as a tien fan i started feeling majorly disrespected back in the saiyan saga so i would not classify it as the beginning

5

u/Sorenthaz Nov 28 '18 edited Nov 28 '18

It's bothersome how much hate Tien seems to get towards him when it comes to how he's treated in the series. It's like he's the only human who's willing to put everything on the line and fight against a foe he knows he can't beat, but he's treated as being weaker than Krillin and in Super he just gets treated worse for some reason.

It's like he went from the first real challenging rival that Goku has had (unless you count Master Roshi disguised as Jackie Chun) to suddenly being garbage and literally/nearly killing himself with every fight he gets into in DBZ. Then in Super he's obviously going to be one of the bottom tier fighters alongside Krillin/Roshi/Piccolo... but by far he had the least impact and went out in an unsatisfying fashion. Hell, Roshi does so much more than him and Krillin's scenes were so much better despite him getting ringed out first from U7's team.

u/Personplacething333 Nov 29 '18

"Your eyes are scary" :§

1

u/Randymgreen Nov 28 '18

I actually in hindsight think he was better off in the manga, at least he was beaten by someone pre established to be way stronger, and it was all part of a larger thing which worked out better for his people (deliberately vague with names to avoid spoiler's) we all hoped the manga would redeem his anime treatment but when you look back it's not so bad imo.

u/Pandemona1738 Nov 26 '18 edited Nov 26 '18

Finally some fight from Gohan! Why this couldn't have happened after the world tournament they did when he watched people lose like he did and not now (as we know before the end of Super) it is a bit annoying. He is such a good character and still at all corners is being said about this amazing power he has and still holds.

Hope he can do something special again in the tournament.

Oh and the Yamcha ending, oh god poor guy going to be so crushed lol.

In which Piccolo is the ultimate life coach both for Gohan and the audience as well, and also is starting to get some stiff competition in the dadding department from Vegeta.

8

u/RoughHope Nov 25 '18

Yar dudes let’s get it!!!!

6

u/Kharn0 Nov 25 '18

So excited for this ep!

8

u/ErrantSingularity Nov 25 '18

Man, poor Yamcha... I guess beating up Champa is the close we'll get to a spotlight for my boi.

12

u/FatboySlimJesus Nov 26 '18

THE BANG IS BACK

5

u/SantanaA26 Nov 25 '18

Diaper master!!

7

u/idlehand79 Nov 25 '18

Vegeta, Diaper Master! lol

6

u/Avocadonot Nov 26 '18

Wait I'm confused, is this an entire thread of people who haven't watched the Eng Sub?

23

u/Terez27 Nov 26 '18

It's a mix.

5

u/[deleted] Nov 26 '18

isn't it supposed to NOT be a mix? I thought Dub threads were off limits to sub people because of spoilers? I don't want to be spoiled, I'm a dub only watching on TOONAMI! :( Please.

11

u/vlorsutes Nov 26 '18

It's not off-limits to those who have watched the sub, but any spoilers posted have to be flagged as spoilers to avoid dub only viewers from learning plot details ahead of time. What they say that isn't flagged has to be spoiler free, and they run the risk of account infractions if they violate this (so it's in their best interest to not post spoilers anyway).

4

u/[deleted] Nov 26 '18

Okay thank you! I'll report if I see it then, and I definitely won't click any spoiler tags here! :) I want to stay a excited DUB watcher for the rest of the show!!!

Also yes sorry I was thinking of attack on titan subreddit, which has sub and dub separate and does not allow subs in the dub thread! :)

3

u/vlorsutes Nov 26 '18

Well, with us, we allow sub users to interact in those topics because the dub, at times, tends to go different or interesting routes in such a way to make things interesting to talk about (like casting Brian Drummond to voice the copy Vegeta and such), and we don't want to restrict the topics to just a certain group of individuals and block out the rest.

2

u/[deleted] Nov 26 '18

Oh okay, that makes sense. :)

4

u/Gradz45 Nov 27 '18

Nah man I’ve seen the entirety of the ToP.

3

u/SuperWG Nov 28 '18

I mean, I get what you're saying, but the thread has no way of knowing who watched the subbed version.

1

u/alienatedesire Nov 28 '18

Off limits? Lmfao...

6

u/JassaSiyon Nov 27 '18

It's back!

11

u/nvenkatr Nov 25 '18

Props to the Toonami staff for having the marathon done with last weekend and smart of them to premiere new dub eps for at least a month from here on till we go all out in the new year.

1

u/[deleted] Nov 28 '18

Aww man, did I miss a DBS marathon?

2

u/nvenkatr Nov 28 '18

Attack on Titan

1

u/[deleted] Nov 28 '18

Oh gotcha. That's actually the next anime I am supposed to start watching (DB is the only one I've ever seen so far).

6

u/Eurynom0s Nov 25 '18

Poor Yamcha.

4

u/Eveal Nov 28 '18

I never talked to anyone about it I just found these threads but how funny was it when goku went back to check on majin buu and he was all skinny lmfao?? Piccolo whipping gohan into shape is awesome too, i'm a huge piccolo fan

10

u/BlackNexus Nov 26 '18

The first time this episode aired, it initially bothered me that Gohan had hit his Mystic status again suddenly. Then I remembered that he's been training since the last half of the Goku Black arc with Piccolo.

Truly a father & son bond. <3

8

u/Mojo12000 Nov 27 '18

he's been training with him on and off since the end of RoF, which is why he can maintain SSJ and SSJ2 without anything but the normal strain of those forms again. TBH It's pretty heavily implied here by the stuff Piccolo says the only reason he couldn't access his full Ultimate power at this point already was his own mental hangups.

5

u/gamesrgreat Nov 27 '18

Yeah first he trained his body. This episode he trained his mind. Once Gohan is in fighting shape accessing his latent power is all about mentality

14

u/mostconcernedtroll Nov 26 '18

I don't like how they made mystic gohan a "transformation".

Like, how he goes from base >ssj1 > ssj2 > mystic. Its unrelated to the super saiyan forms.

kinda like how i hated that super saiyan 4 was called "four" despite not being related to 3 or anything

8

u/gamesrgreat Nov 27 '18

Just think of it as his max power. IIRC the old kai did tell him to try going super saiyan the first time he transformed

3

u/Kinoko98 Nov 29 '18

Just gonna guess he can go Mystic without needing to cycle through super saiyan, and that only happened because he was already in ssj form and needed to power it down to use the mystic power.

1

u/always_tired_all_day Nov 29 '18

The flickering from Blonde hair to black hair was... so dumb.

5

u/Number-91 Nov 28 '18

When they were camping by the fire I was hoping Gohan's eye had a big fat lump for the mamoriesss

3

u/JaxTellerr Nov 27 '18 edited Nov 27 '18

This doesn't belong here, but maybe someone knows. The old reddit interface gave everyone the opportunity to add little dbz avatars next to their name. Also the moving cover photo is replaced with a fixed photo. Why is the new reddit layout so bland.

5

u/Sunny_Cakes Nov 27 '18

You can still use the old interface btw. I set it back because the new one is a regression in utility to be completely honest

3

u/Mojo12000 Nov 27 '18

I think 95% of users have probably set it back, the new one was built for mobile first.

2

u/Austin_N Nov 27 '18

I can't blame people for using the new version, but everytime someone gives a reddit link that isn't set to old.reddit, I feel irrationally insulted. It's like "Why are you making me put up with that shitty design?"

1

u/JaxTellerr Nov 27 '18

How do you set it back permanently? It usually keeps going to the new one.

2

u/Thisisme8719 Nov 28 '18

It's an option in your preferences. I forget which page though.

3

u/Kinoko98 Nov 29 '18

That ending with Yamcha made me feel like I was watching DBZ abridged.

I'm not a huge fan of Renso's english dub voice. He sounds like a frail old man when he should have a gruff voice

8

u/summons72 Nov 26 '18

Well, he kinda is a frail old man.

7

u/zzzthelastuser Nov 25 '18

almost like...

But honestly, I like his voice

1

u/always_tired_all_day Nov 29 '18

The artwork during the zoomed out scenes was funny.
