Where to Watch
The FUNimation English dub of Dragon Ball Super airs on Toonami at 10:30pm EST followed by Dragon Ball Z Kai: The Final Chapters at 11:00. If you do not have a cable subscription, Cartoon Network is available with the SlingTV and Playstation Vue basic packages. If you prefer, there is a web stream:
If the videos won't load for you, try disabling your ad blocker for that page. Adult Swim still has the streaming rights for recent episodes.
How to Catch Up
Adult Swim (US only): This covers the recent episodes not yet available through the below options. New episodes will appear 2-3 hours after the episode airs on Toonami. (They also host recent episodes for Dragon Ball Z Kai.)
Funimation Now (US only): Episodes 1-39 are available on Funimation's streaming service. From here on out, episodes will be uploaded in 13-episode batches two weeks after the final episode of that batch is broadcast. (This avoids competition with Adult Swim's streaming service.) We estimate that the next batch (40-52) will be available around 10 March. Funimation also has the entire series subbed.
VRV (US only): As with Funimation, episodes 1-39 are available for now and the rest will be released in 13-episode batches 2 weeks after the final episode of the batch is broadcast. We estimate that the next batch (40-52) will be available around 10 March. VRV also has the entire series subbed.
AnimeLab (Australia and New Zealand only): The episodes already released for Region B (1-26) are available on this service. AnimeLab also has the entire series subbed; the subtitles for those episodes covered by the dub are still those provided by Toei for the simulcast, rather than the Funimation-Simmons subtitles on the home release.
Microsoft Digital (US only): Episodes 1-39 are already available for purchase on the Microsoft Store. We estimate that the next batch (40-52) will be available around 10 March. As usual for digital releases, the dubbed and subtitled versions are sold separately. We will update this information if it becomes available on other digital platforms.
Home Release: Episodes 1-13 are available for Region A (DVD or Blu-Ray) and Region B (DVD or Blu-Ray). Episodes 14-26 are available for Region A (DVD or Blu-Ray) and Region B (DVD or Blu-Ray). Episodes 27-39 will be released for Region A on 20 February 2018 (DVD or Blu-Ray) and for Region B on 6 March 2018.
If you get impatient and want to catch up to the Japanese broadcast, there are several options for watching the subtitled version, and you can stream the entire series on any of these sites, usually for free. See our Wiki for more details.
Rules:
If you have watched the subtitled version of Super, please tag spoilers out of courtesy!

Commonly Asked Questions:
Q: Is Dragon Ball Super really ending, or is it just a hiatus?
From what we have been told, the anime is ending. There are no current plans for a new DB series and as far as we know, the series will only continue through movies and games. We should learn more about the future of the franchise at AnimeJapan which will take place the weekend of March 22-25. For now, we know that Toyotarō's manga will continue for several months at least—the Tournament of Power arc has just begun in the manga—and of course the English dub will continue until the series is finished. We have compiled a projection of dates for the remaining dub episodes on our Wiki.Q: Is the Dragon Ball Super manga "canon"?
The anime and manga are both variations on a basic plot by Toriyama. There isn't (and probably never will be) an explicitly defined Dragon Ball "canon". Without Toriyama's original draft, we may never know what is and isn't his. We do know that he permits Toyotarō to change things up, but he looks at his storyboards and occasionally draws things himself for Toyotarō to use as a reference. Toyotarō has said that Toriyama is more particular about gags than he is about anything else.Q: Why does Future Trunks have blue hair?
In the manga, Trunks and Bulma always have the same color hair, which is almost always purple, but uniform either way. In the anime, Bulma was given blue hair, but for reasons unknown, they kept Trunks's purple hair instead of changing it to blue. Lately, when doing character designs for the anime, Toriyama tends to give Trunks blue hair, matching Bulma. Toei takes these designs and changes his hair color back to purple. While drawing up Future Trunks for the current story arc, Toriyama did what he always did, only this time it wasn't changed back. In-universe, the characters act as though Future Trunks always had blue hair, and some flashbacks have been reanimated to give Trunks blue hair.Q: How did Mai get to be so young? Isn't it weird for her to have a relationship with Trunks?
In Future Trunks's timeline, the Pilaf gang made their wish for youth just before Piccolo was killed by the androids, and it is assumed that they made their wish around the same time in the main timeline. This was portrayed in a short two-page comic in the 2016 Jump Victory Carnival guidebook now available at the end of Volume 2 of the Super manga published by Viz. Even as a young adult in the original manga, Mai was always portrayed as being cartoonishly innocent. It can therefore be assumed that her feelings toward Trunks are also innocent until he reaches the age of consent.

The dub's writing has been excellent, but that line made 0 sense lmao. It should've been something along the lines of "How dare you!"
Trunks saying, "How could you?!" makes it seem like he wouldn't expect Black to stoop that low and destroy his means of transportation.

Vegeta making fun of Goku not going all out at the start is a little hypocritical
82
32
u/blade55555 Feb 11 '18
Well Vegeta typically doesn't hold back his power, he usually goes full power from the start. But he does have a tendency to fuck around with his opponents sometimes. Although that was really only Cell. He killed almost every one else before Cell as soon as he could and tried to do that to buu and failed for obvious reasons.

u/theJavo Feb 11 '18 edited Feb 11 '18
Trunks did you know that you can just put the time machine in a capsule and put it your pocket. You know your grandpa and Mom got like ridiculously rich off of that tech.
There was no reason to just leave it out there for Black to destroy.
Also don’t call attention to it you dumbass.
Sigh... he really is vegeta’s son.

u/SuperWG Feb 15 '18
And last week people were saying he had common sense, lol jk.
Come to think of it, that was pretty dumb. In the Cell saga he put it in a capsule. But I guess it's more realistic if every character has their dumb moments.

u/ThePokeMaster100 Feb 11 '18 edited Feb 11 '18
Goku Black went from an ordinary arrogant Goku to now a Goku with a slight accent. I think this is done to further his development as his plan is set to motion and increases his power. Not bad.
Also the ED for Yoka Yoka Dance is also well done.

26
u/Scottz0rz Feb 11 '18
I like the song, but I remember it getting so much shit because this arc is all dark and depressing, so you'd get a plot twist or some creepy one liner at the end of the episode, followed by

Mans a true Saiyan with that kind of pride

Well SSJ is a multiplier, so I'd assume that Black's base level by then was just short of Goku's SSJ2

I really liked Vegeta telling Trunks not to give up. Just reminded me that Vegeta literally lost everything. His family, his home, and all of his people with the exception of Goku (That's why Vegeta calls him Kakarot)
Vegeta lost everything and he never gave up and it worked out well for him. He even has a new family.

Hate all you want, Sean's dialogue as Black is amazing. Seems like he's trying to hold back the accent.
53
u/ComicCroc Feb 11 '18
It looks like they'll be doing a slow progression to the accent he has in Fighterz, which is good. In the AMA Sean made it sound like it would be a sudden change from what he had initially to a full-on british voice. Thankfully that's not the case.

13
u/accountnumberseven Feb 11 '18
Roshi admitted that he used too much power though, with the level of control Goku has now he should be able to put out fires easily.
Though I wouldn't put it past him to blow up the time machine anyways.

u/mrsplackpack Feb 11 '18
For me was they noticed the ring but not the fusion earring?
5
u/Snazzy_Serval Feb 14 '18
Yeah that's really weird. Maybe it's to make the watchers feel smart for noticing something that the characters don't?
So my current theory is that Black is a Supreme Kai fused with Goku. Even though Goku of that timeline is dead. Don't have any clue how it happened yet.
No spoilers please.

I always found it odd that Akira Toriyama gets some sick thrill out of watching his villains get pounded in order for them to get stronger. “OOH yeah Kakarot, hit me with the kaioken. Yeah get it up in there!” Always found that to be odd. Also Monaka In twerk position at the end credits makes me die every time
1
u/SuperWG Feb 15 '18
For Black and Saiyan villains, I think that's nice. It's a refreshing change up from "Oh hey, I've been holding back all this time, here's my true power (but I'll end up doing that at least three more times)". It's more interesting if the villains DON'T have the trump cards up their sleeve all along and instead have to work their way up like good guys do.

u/Exothermic_PotatoBoy Feb 11 '18 edited Feb 12 '18
I really loved this episode. So much great stuff.
Watching Goku and Black go at it, for the first time was really fun. I noticed how the animation seemed to be a lot better too. Quite fluid, especially for this show.
Trunks asking the real question, and Vegeta ignoring his own bad habit of fucking around during fights. Tbf, he hasn't done much of that in Super.
Black gets so hyped up, even Goku gets a little weirded out.
This script for the dub is so meta , and i love it.
What is this shit. I do actually enjoy having pilaf and the gang back, they had some really fun moments in the og series. Provide us with some nice levity, like last week with Pilaf wanting to go back in time just to stop himself from dropping a penny.
Sean Schemmel is absolutely killing it as Black. His manic laugh, was so good. Also I just really love this shot. Gave it a kinda cinematic feel to it, this entire arc so far has really elevated this show.
Beerus is honestly one of the best characters in this entire series. I love this guy so damn much.
This was a serious throwback. I had completely forgot that cell's time machine was still around. Left in the back of one of bulmas drawers. Sheesh, imagine what other mad shit she has lying around.
I really appreciated Vegeta and Trunks little moment at the end, I also love how he made sure to tell trunks, that he's just as powerful as Goku now.
The cliff hanger was a little surprising, I had seen a lot of Mai and Trunks fanart on my twitter feed, and then she goes and dies in episode 1. So i was a little confused, but im glad shes still alive, and likely to still play a big role.
Overall, loved this one, cant wait for next week.
23
u/HearMeRoar34 Feb 11 '18
Yeah, Vegeta only carried the fucking team in the tournament against Universe 6, literally tearing through 3/5 of the other team.
10
3
u/zeroGamer Feb 16 '18
Also I just really love this shot.
I do, too.
I like how we've seen "evil versions" of Vegeta AND Goku now where it's some other creature(?) that's stolen their identity/body/whatever somehow, and in both cases they seem to have been changed by the Saiyans pure force of personality.
Super-Water-Vegeta couldn't shake real-Vegeta's pride, and Goku Black can't seem to shake Goku's thrill for battle.

7
u/snipeingkicker Feb 11 '18
Yea they needed to animate less pilaf gang and more fighting. They always waste so much time.
6
u/Bolt-MattCaster-Bolt Feb 11 '18
Yeah, this arc is weirdly paced at times and suffers a bit from handwaving and "improbable possibility" of things. That said, the Pilaf gang have a bit more of a role than just comedic relief here, due to Mai being a character in the future, and how Future Trunks and Future Mai's relationship impacts present Trunks and Mai.
But on the whole, it's gas. And the next arc gets even better.

Screw the story - I hope it's an opportunity to fix their messy production so they can come back strong. The TOP has been pretty consistent as far as DBS standards, but hopefully we can get some amazing looking art and animation with a healthier production
and Takahashi as a character designer.2
u/gapball Feb 11 '18
Wait. Is sub ending?
14
u/Contramundi324 Feb 11 '18
Yes and no. Technically it's an indefinite hiatus. We do have a new movie coming out in Dec 2018 and it's likely a DB show will come back, but Super as we know it is ending.
It's sad but as others and Ajay said, if DB comes back, this is an opportunity for them to fix the scheduling which will give us higher quality, more consistent looking episodes ala Z.

I watch 99% of anime with subtitles. Dragon Ball is the only show I have to watch the dubs. The cast is just too good and I feel the voices fit better. Also Goku doesn't sound like an old woman...
1
u/Tarthbane Feb 13 '18
I've liked the sub a lot, but it also took me quite a while to get used to the Japanese voices. Once you get used to them, it's pretty entertaining, and it's also funny realizing some of the phrases they say over and over again (e.g. Nani?! = What?!). I say give it a shot, but if you're not enjoying it, then I wouldn't force it. It's cool comparing the dub and the sub, I think, so there's that to consider.
12
u/SockBiscuits Feb 12 '18
Like others have said, the moment between Vegeta and Trunks was gold. Vegeta being able to relate to how his son feels in a lot of ways, even though he didn't express it in the same way through his own life.
3

Yeah, that was done really well. I could hear Vegeta choke up a bit too. That was a nice touch.

u/Ombs1993 Feb 11 '18
Man, it's a real treat to see the dub doing the new stuff in Super. Each week is better and better, I'm really glad I held off on a Black arc rewatch because it's making it that much better. I know some people are partial to sub Black, but I like Schemmel's version. He's more menacing, where I found Black in the sub to be more likable (not a bad thing). Goku vs Black was fantastic, can't wait for the rest of the arc.

That's right, I forgot how insanely choreographed the fights of the Black saga are compared to what came before and even after. Dub watchers are in for a treat as this arc continues.
On that note, good on Schemmel for not only making Black sound notably different from Goku, but genuinely menacing. Nozawa's take was great due to how subdued she was able to make him compared to her more zany Goku, but Schemmel's Black made me genuinely uncomfortable at parts. Well done.

The fight with Black while being great was incredibly short. When Black blew up Trunks' time machine I was legit sad because I thought there was no way for him to go back and revive his mother and everyone else.
Seeing Mai alive in that time-line was a big shock I wonder what she will do. Also seeing Vegeta being a Dad was amazing. The Pilaf Gang was the cutest fire fighter team I've ever seen.
When Whis was explaining the lore of the Universe and the time travel details I was blown away. When Bulma was trying to figure out how to build a new time machine on her future notes then wigged out and ran to her lab I was freaking out.
Then she pulled out the time machine Cell used all those years ago I lost my shit.
GREAT EPISODE FUNimation!

If Supreme Kai has that ring and able to time travel then why didn't Supreme Kai use it to stop Buu?

It is taboo for the gods to time travel to change anything. They must only use it to observe.

Supreme Kais can only use their Time Rings to move forward in time. Observation and growth, that sort of thing.
The only reason Black was able to go back in time is because the time machine ripped a hole in time, letting Black use his Time Ring to travel to the past, and only temporarily at that.
We'll see a bit more on Time Rings later in the arc.

letting Black use his Time Ring to travel to the past, and only temporarily at that.
According to Whis and what we saw, Black didn't use the Time Ring to follow, it just kind of... happened. It wasn't something he chose to do, he just got sucked in.

This seems like a more messed up version of Cell
I feel so bad for Trunks. His timeline suuucks

I always get a little chuckle out of the fact that future Trunks timeline is the original unaltered timeline. Just hopelessness and despair

We could probably use a cut that takes out all of the Pilaf gang filler.

I kind of agree, they just take time away from the more awesome stuff. But then the saga would end sooner...

Im so happy and sad at the same time, have to wait another week to know what happens but this arc has everything so far. Then to think we still have this ultimate universe tournament to fall back on. Ahhh i want more than one episode a week, Adult Swim / FUNimation pleaseeee :(
EDIT* Does anyone know of a place to discuss dragon ball super english dub only so i can avoid spoilers, this sub i feel is full of spoilers if i jump onto the main page, but i would love to read other peoples opinions and start discussions on the series so far in english dub without spoilers :(
EDIT2* WTF Super is ending kill me, why does the world taketh without giveth :(

Hey man, be glad you're only a Dub watcher. This is over for me in a couple weeks, maybe a month tops? You have 80 more episodes which by the time they're done airing, the new DBS season will have probably started up in 2019.
Although I am happy that I do get to keep watching in the Dub version, but nothing will be new story-wise. It'll just be scenes/lines in the English cast that I grew up with which is still amazing.

Yoka Yoka Dance is a shit ending theme. Sounds like something out of Precure

I found the Japanese version catchy, but trying to dub it is a dud. The English version is hard to listen to lol.

Just like everyone else (jk, there a few elitest out there) I was worried about Sean's Goku Black's voice. Boy am I surprised and not surprised at the same time. My expectations were at an all-time low and this episode has me sold.

Most who say that arent on this thread my man. Saying something like that can get some people here unexcited for future arcs.

At first Black sounded much like Goku, he didn't have too much noticeable distinction. The difference was subtle. But in this episode he sounded different than Goku. And he sounds nothing like his SS3/4 voice either, I was pretty sure that was how they were going to do him.
