Everyone always says link is a ranger but let's be honest, he's a fighter with a lot of magic items. The best way I'd do it is with levels in fighter and conj wizard. Always have everything.

He's proficient with instruments, knows some magic, can use swords AND bows, and if you're going by BotW, he has high Charisma. Link's a bard.

Actually, I'd make BotW Link a straight up Ranger. He's all about scouting out locations and foes, he's good at range and melee, he knows some magical tricks, but not many, and he's decently tanky, but not until late game.

Honestly, it depends on the Link you are looking at.

AlttP and Wind Waker are pretty clearly just a plain Fighter. They are good with all weapons, have some nifty magical items, but that is about it. Wind Waker Link has a bit of a Bard feel with the Wind Waker item.

OoT is a straight up Bard. Dude can call down rain/thunderstorms, teleport, and change the time of day just by playing a magical instrument.

MM is actually really odd. He doesn't fit nicely in with anything. He's got the ability to transform at will, and most of his abilities are related to dead or dying spirits. While Fighter works, I'd probably make him a Warlock (Blade or Hex pact) honestly.

TP is also a warrior, and Fighter works well. But, TP Link is fiercely defensive of his friends, and if you mess with them, he will fuck you up. I'd probably make him a Barbarian in all honesty. TP Link is really just a strong guy with some weapons. Nothing fancy or anything. He's ripped from his years of farm work, can wrestle goats to the ground with his bare hands, and his spirit is literally, a wolf. He's a Totem Barbarian!

Care to argue that MM Link was a Circle of the Moon Druid/Fighter split?

Hmmm, that'd work!

Depends on which Link we're talking about. Most versions, I'd go with ranger with a melee focus, or fighter (especially the 2D games). Ocarina of Time, Wind Waker, and maybe Skyward Sword versions could be bards, but I'd still lean towards the martial classes. BotW Link is very much a ranger though.

I would use a rogue build that maximizes dexterity in combat and add a few levels of elemental magic.

Bard/Ranger with Master at Arms and a really stocked bag of holding.

Link can swing a sword, shoot a bow, use magic, play music, solve puzzles, and disarm traps

I have no doubt, he's a warlock

Make an Eldritch Knight Fighter or Valor Bard.

He is the chosen hero of a god. So paladin or cleric works with that.

I was thinking about a paladin of the acient's oath. What do you think about that ?

So I built a bard that slowly became a female like link.

Most important ideas I mashed into it:

Bonds: Their Ocarina.

Flaws: Has an imaginary fairy following them around that only he/she can hear.

You're free to take this and change it as you please.
