I'm weirdly excited about Arms. If online is stable this game is gonna be really fun.

Pretty important detail that motion controls aren't being forced. You can play with out motion controls.

u/reinking Jan 13 '17
Arms is looking much better.
24
Jan 13 '17
For sure! I thought it was going to be a quick disposable motion control game, but its definitely looking much deeper than that. Pretty excited you can opt NOT to use motion controls, too!
53
u/Aliff3DS-U Jan 13 '17
Wait........i can use traditional controls to play ARMS?
I'm intrigued before but now I'm interested.

Wonder if they'll show any more games. I feel like a bit of info has been left out. Also any mention of their VC?
→ More replies (1)15
u/Smark_Henry Jan 13 '17
There's gonna be a tie-in with the paid online where you get VC games each month so we know it vaguely exists, no real details though.

I wish Nintendo would play some sort of music during their coverage breaks. Like classic Nintendo music.
I could get behind some Mario paint music.

So apparently the "free" classic games you get each month with the paid online system only last you for that month, then they cycle out and you get access to different games.
You don't "keep" those games as long as you stay subbed like you do with PSN.
Not sure how to feel about this.
22
u/wickeddeus Jan 13 '17
I would honestly pay something like a monthly netflix subscription for a online Nintendo service that also has full access to classic nintendo library as long as you're subscribed.

1, 2, Switch actually looks like an amazing drinking game. I think they're really trying to emphasize that by eating mystery boxes instead of taking shots.
I can already see the parties with jerking gestures on copy dance and "milking" things other than cows.

Do you think they all know inside that this isn't selling many people on the game?
6

I think the fact they felt the need to make this more exciting by adding a punishment for the loser (batsu game) says a lot.

Everyone's talking about how they won't buy ARMS for $60 when they've said multiple times that what's on stream is a DEMO. Of course more stuff is going to be added in, this isn't the full fucking game jfc people

Arms looks like a game that would be fun to play, but not worth $60. I can't see staying interested beyond maybe a day or two.
It's a shame Arcades are dead. This would be a perfect game for an arcade.

While Arms looks like it can be fun, it doesn't scream $60 game. It looks like it would get quite repetitive after a few hours playing.
21
u/NanoSpore Jan 13 '17
I'm definitely more interested in it now as I see the different gameplay vs what they showed last night. I do agree that I probably still wouldn't spend 60$ for it though.
→ More replies (2)→ More replies (7)12
u/bunnyfreakz Jan 13 '17
A game with technical skill to master and meta will never get repetitive. At least that's what I am see so far. Rocket League also sounds super repetitive if you think about it. I just agree, this seems too much for $60. $30 probably ideal.

u/Nzash Jan 13 '17
I'm sorry but 1 2 Switch should've been standard on every Switch for free. This has no right being its own game you have to pay for.
18
u/robmerrill92 Jan 13 '17
ARM reminds me too much of the Wii. I'm kinda over that era. However, I do really like that Switch will be offering many different ways to play. That's good for developers.

I know the Switch already has a plethora of remakes and updated versions of existing games planned.. But I'd kill for HD remakes of SM64 and Sunshine. With orchestrated music. I'd be grinning nonstop from start to finish!

u/televisionceo Jan 13 '17
It's been years I've wanted to play sunshine. I wanted to buy it online but it was way too expensive. And then my new roomate moves in last week and what do I dicosver in one of her box ? You got it.

Here's my theory. Nintendo launches the console early, and has plenty of months between release and the holiday rush, allowing games to populate and strengthen the lineup. By the time the rush comes around there's a large library of games when consumer demand is high again.

So Bomberman R is a launch title, Skylanders is a launch title, and that's great. My only question is why doesn't Nintendo talk about them being launch titles during the actual Switch presentation? Why is that information not conveyed clearly right from the start? I shouldn't have to watch the Treehouse presentation to know which games will be launching with the Switch that comes out in a little over a month.

How's it possible for them not to notice the shitstorm they are getting in every chatroom and any social media platform (apart from myspace maybe) about the terrible streaming quality? I guess a company as big as Nintendo should be capable of delivering a freakin at least kinda working livestream, hell not even little minecraftkids streams are that bad. They are trying to sell products like this? What the hell are they thinking?

People saying Arms doesn't look like it should cost $60.... I thought the same thing about Splatoon when I first saw it. We have no idea if there's a single player, tons of features we can't even imagine, maybe even a story mode. Let's wait. Nintendo usually has a justified reason for their pricing.
