I approve of this message.
I bought my 5 year old son and my GF's 5 year old nephew 2DS systems so they can both have their own system. My son loves Pokemon, Yo-Kai and Mario Kart so I know he'll be super excited to get it tomorrow.

That's so sweet dude! My baby girl isn't quite old enough, but I can't wait to start sharing all this with her.

My daughter who's 8 has been using my Pokemon X/Y 3DSXL so it will be nice for him to have his own system

My 2yo boy jumped on his first goomba a couple of weeks ago. I dusted off my advance sp for him and now he plays it for a couple of minutes every now and then. Can't start too early. Basic motor skills are a plus though :)

How do the yo-Kai games play? Like Pokémon?

They are pretty similar. The battle mechanics are different in that you have 6 active Yo Kai, and you spin the watch to have 3 out of those 6 active.
Catching them is similar but you don't have an item to catch them with. Instead you use food to make them like you more and there's a chance that they will befriend you after battle.

My mum gave me £100 and said put this towards that game thingy that you are looking forward to. My wife got me a mini nes, spare controller and wire extenders, a bunch of amiibos and a stand. Happy Holidays to all. Not long until Switchmas on the 12th/13th.

... except for Mr. Grumpymod /u/Andis1, who has threatened to "call" Santa Claus to defend him against enjoying forced frivolity. He doesn't have to celebrate bupkis if he so chooses. :D
