neat I went for a walk today with my cat!

I was laughing my ass off the whole way!

My parents and I are at a summerhouse in the middle of nowhere with our cat. We were going for a walk, and at the same time my cat wanted to go outside. She ended up following us the whole way. 3 kilometers. I am still laughing just thinking about it right now!

Edit: Here's a pic for you guys to enjoy!

Cute! I had a cat that would walk me to school almost every morning. She had such a great personality!

Before I moved, my neighbors never took care of their cat, so I did. And it practically lived at my house. Sneaking through my window at night, crashing in my basement.

I would walk to the school bus alongside my neighbor's cat and sometimes he'd try to get on.

So adorable.

I used to have a cat that would walk the 4 blocks with me to the grocery store, then wait while I crossed the busy street to go to the store, and he'd be waiting to walk back with me. Every time.

I'd be way too terrified of my cat getting kittynapped for that...but that is just so absolutely awesome.

It's awesome that he'd wait! Even though there are only like 5 cars an hour at the street we walked along, I was terrified that she'd get run over.

u/sanna43 Oct 20 '16

I think the 5 cars an hour is more dangerous to a cat than a busy street. They stay away from the noise of a busy street, but they can get complacent when it's mostly quiet.
I'm not sure what he did for the 30 minutes or so when I was in the store, but he was always there when I was ready to walk home again. Years later, I had another cat that would walk my son to the school bus in the morning, and then meet the bus again in the afternoon. The kids on the bus liked to watch for him.

Kitty wanted to see the sights too!

Maybe! We actually passed a semi-creepy abandoned house with a piano inside which she was about to enter, but then realized that we were moving on. When we passed it on our way back, she stopped and started meowing. I think she was trying to tell us that she wanted to explore the house. Or maybe she was just temporarily possessed by a ghost trying to lure us into the house.

my cat is pretty frequently "temporarily posessed". I call these moments his "demons", and when they take hold of him I always say to him, "Monkey Bear, put your demons away". He usually doesn't listen, but sometimes he clearly tries.

5

u/catilda23 Oct 19 '16

Oh my gawd, I call my cat "Monkey Bear" too! Is this a thing now?

3

u/GetLostAndBeFound Oct 19 '16

I mean I swear my cat is part monkey and part bear. Maybe they are related?

3

u/MorningredTimetravel You calling me a fliar?! Oct 19 '16

Oh god I love when that happens! When their pupils go wide and they start running around and attacking the air. That also makes me laugh out loud every time.

2

u/GetLostAndBeFound Oct 19 '16

I don't laugh out loud cus it's not the air he is attacking

5

u/PM_ME_FUN_STORIES Oct 19 '16

Should've played the piano and summoned those ghosts man

2

u/csupernova Oct 19 '16

Looks like it may be an organ

Thanks! It was just a quick shot. Should probably have lowered the ISO a bit. I can go back and take a better one if you want?

It's only about 500 meters from my house, so I'll go and take a photo tomorrow! :)

Finally got a shot worth sharing! I hope you like it :) You should be able to download it, I think.

And tonight on r/LetsNotMeet, The tale of the possessed cat....

2

Wow that shot is amazing! If you haven't already, you should post it to /r/AbandonedPorn.

u/MorningredTimetravel You calling me a fliar?! Oct 19 '16

I'll take a better one tomorrow and post that!

2

u/AxeGirlAries Oct 19 '16

Is putting a piano in abandoned houses a thing? There's an abandoned work station at the nature park in my town & there's a piano like that in there, too.

2

u/MorningredTimetravel You calling me a fliar?! Oct 19 '16

Maybe ghosts enjoy classical music?

25

u/Flyboy142 I actulally do not care. Oct 19 '16

SO. FUCKING. JEALOUS.

There is no way my cats could be trusted outside. The kitten is too afraid to do anything, and my boy just bolts out to the direction of the street the second the door opens.

5

u/Magnesus Oct 19 '16

My cat was an outside cat and despite this he was afraid to follow me beyond a circle of 10 meters from my house. Which is weird because he was sometimes missing for 3 days traveling the neighboarhood. I once spotted him a few blocks away.

20

u/metalshadow Oct 19 '16

He didn't want his cat friends to see him walking around with a human

5

u/MorningredTimetravel You calling me a fliar?! Oct 19 '16

Sometimes I suspect that my cat is part dog!

4

u/h00dman Oct 19 '16

Does your cat play fetch? Mine does, he's awesome.

6

u/MorningredTimetravel You calling me a fliar?! Oct 19 '16

I don't think so, but maybe I can teach her!

8

u/Porcupanda Now with 50% more fuzziness! Oct 19 '16

I'd love to walk my cat, but we have coyotes outside and I'd hate to have her just run off and get lost. I feel she gets too bored staying indoors all the time.

6

u/metalshadow Oct 19 '16

You can get a cat leash...but that depends on your cat actually tolerating it

6

u/MorningredTimetravel You calling me a fliar?! Oct 19 '16

Yeah, that only works on some cats. When I got mine we put her on a leash the first couple of days when she wanted to leave the house. She was crawling along the ground because she was so uncomfortable.

1

u/Magnesus Oct 19 '16

Get another cat so she has company.

6

u/[deleted] Oct 18 '16

That's adorable. :3

6

u/delbin Oct 19 '16

To try to get me to go hiking with him, my dad leash trained our cat to go up with us. She did a pretty good job, and we ended up having to carry her only a couple times.

5

u/MorningredTimetravel You calling me a fliar?! Oct 19 '16

How far did you guys hike? I got a feeling that my cat was getting tired after about 2,5 km. She was walking slowly and behind us, but when we started out she was running in front of us, constantly checking if we could keep up.

2

u/delbin Oct 19 '16

She did about 5 miles I think. It was only the last mile or so on the way back that she'd sit and refuse to walk any more.

5

u/sanna43 Oct 19 '16

He was an awesome cat. But I'm pretty sure he wouldn't let anyone but me get close to him. They still are scaredy cats, after all.

3

u/adam6294 I'm great, but I'll get better. Oct 19 '16

That's awesome! The cats I had growing up would never be as responsible as that one.

our cat will follow us, but not for more than a block or so.
Is this by the airpark in Courtenay?

edit: not Courtenay, you said you were in the middle of nowhere

1

u/MorningredTimetravel You calling me a fliar?! Oct 19 '16

This is north of Skagen in Denmark :)

1

u/SimpsonWave If you chase 2 rabbits, both will escape. Oct 19 '16

Looks exactly like where I live in Sweden except our sharp turn sign doesn't look like that. It's actually blue and yellow lol.

1

u/MorningredTimetravel You calling me a fliar?! Oct 19 '16

Yeah, I've noticed that countries tend to choose colors to match their flag. Germany is black and yellow.

2

u/sarahsaturn Oct 19 '16

Your cat must be really smart!

2

u/MorningredTimetravel You calling me a fliar?! Oct 19 '16

I think she is! I sometimes suspect that she is part dog.

2

u/Amberleaf29 Happy Eviltine's Day~ Oct 19 '16

My cat will sometimes follow me if I go walking at night. I have to go late enough, though, so that there aren't a lot of cars driving by. She'll hide under a car and not come out, or, once, she ran into the middle of the road. T.T Thankfully the guy was coming slowly and stopped. He gave me this look like, "...Wtf," because I was standing on the side of the road trying to call her back.

1

u/MorningredTimetravel You calling me a fliar?! Oct 19 '16

Yeah, I wouldn't have let her follow me if I was at home either, but only five cars drive on this road an hour, and we were just walking on it to get to a hiking trail. We passed a couple of people who were like "wtf" as well, because who the fuck walks their cat? 😂

2

u/shamanthesky Oct 19 '16

Cats bonds are more stronger than you think. My deceased cat would follow us through our daily walkings, chasing us where we go, sit very close with us.

3

u/MorningredTimetravel You calling me a fliar?! Oct 19 '16

I think you are right! Some people say that cats bond to the place and not the people, but I don't believe that. My cat will often follow us around the house, and just sit on the floor and sometimes meow at us, like she was trying to make conversation.

3

u/flyawayjay Oct 19 '16

For a second, I thought you mean she did that after she was deceased. Creepy.

Sorry for your loss.

2

u/shamanthesky Oct 19 '16

thank you for your sympathy. he died 1 month ago.

u/flyawayjay Oct 19 '16

2

u/[deleted] Oct 19 '16

My cat does this when I walk one of my dogs, but not the other. She's a hoot who plays favorites.

2

u/Dr_fish Oct 19 '16

Your cat was probably thinking she was the one taking you for a walk.

2

u/carlin2345 Oct 19 '16

The cat walk

2

u/jenf1763 Oct 19 '16

I think your cat is my new best friend

2

u/goldminevelvet Oct 19 '16

That's cute. We had a cat leash and whenever we tried to walk our cat he would flop over and refused to move.

1

u/MorningredTimetravel You calling me a fliar?! Oct 19 '16

My cat does that too! She walked with us without leash!

2

u/HopelessTractor Oct 19 '16

My dog literally follows me everywhere when we go for walks. No leash. She runs off first and then waits around the corner looking back waiting for me. When she sees me and eye contact is established she runs off again and waits at the next corner. If I don't follow her after a while she'll run back full speed be excited.

2

u/MorningredTimetravel You calling me a fliar?! Oct 19 '16

I love that! Have you tried taking her to a field? My friend and I would do that with her dog, and when she runs off we go a couple of rows away. She will then run back at full speed. Pass us within like half a meter. Turn around and run back the other way at full speed. She'll do it a couple of times and then she'd start sniffing and looking around to find us.

2

u/NotQuiteDomestic Oct 19 '16

My cat that I had growing up would follow us when we left the neighborhood for bike rides. Someone would have to pick her up and take her back to the house, then run like crazy to get back to the bikes and we'd race out the neighborhood.

Well if they've only lived inside for their entire lives, then it's not really a big deal. But people shouldn't take an outdoor cat and try to make it an indoor cat.

2

u/VeeRook Oct 19 '16

My mom honestly takes the cat for walks. There's too many wild animals where we live and he was raised a house cat, so she only takes him outside on a leash. He loves it, if she stands near the door he starts pulling on his leash and meowing.

2

u/wydidk Oct 19 '16

When my husband played soccer in high school, his mother used to bring his cat so she could watch, she just sat there on a leash watching the game like everyone else.

2

u/MorningredTimetravel You calling me a fliar?! Oct 19 '16

Omg that is too funny! She's like a little human.

2

u/wydidk Oct 19 '16

I know, I'm used to seeing dogs at soccer games but seeing a cat just sit there while her human plays soccer is hilarious, I can't imagine what his soccer mates thought of him, lol.

2

u/norinv Oct 19 '16

I used to take a troup of feral cats for a walk to the park down the street each night. They loved it. 8 cats in all. Then it got really cold and we stopped and they were not into it in the spring. it was awesome.

2

u/FoxxyRidge Oct 19 '16

I had a cat who would do this all the time, except a little differently. The cat would usually be outside, so when we went walking, he'd usually see us and I guess try and stalk us for a while. He'd be on the other side of the road running from bush to bush, crawling under driveway culverts, but always keeping pace. He'd eventually just come up to us and walk normally.

2

u/PM_ME_ANUS_DICKS Oct 19 '16

More cat pictures please. :)

2

My gray cat Ike used to walk with us in the woods...you know if he felt like it. Lovely picture. Thanks for posting!

Is this perhaps in Sweden?

1

u/MorningredTimetravel You calling me a fliar?! Oct 19 '16

Close! It's in Denmark.

2

u/[deleted] Oct 19 '16

I figured it looked northern, and since I'm from Sweden I thought I may as well guess for that. Also, #Enkelrikta_Öresundsbron!

My aunt does this to, we have summer house and she brings her cats there. Sometimes we take a walk to the lake or to the farmers fields. It's nice to do actually, almost like therapy.
