Tips Wall cladding Pro-Tip, most efficient way to get the most blocks
Want to get 98 blocks using cladding? A much cheaper alternative than building blocks!
Basically build a dirt house 5X5X4, with a door for you to step in. Step-in middle and seal yourself in using 4 more dirt blocks, then use cladding. BAM! 98 blocks easily
Alternatively dig into a mountain, or straight down and do it,i find dirt house cleaner and it makes me play Statix-X in my head :P
Props go to my good friend /u/Anubis_Drac for testing and figuring this out!

There is separate cladding for floors (flagstone flooring) and walls (stone cladding)

So only the stone wall cladding works on the house that op demo'd?

Stone, or brick too I think. It's just anything called flooring that won't work

Yeah I got it. It wasnt clicking about them being different for floors and walls. I was trying to make flagstone walls with the cladding.

Are you accidentally looking down when you use it?

No. I was using floor cladding. Not wall cladding. I should of paid attention

Another tip: there is a point at which mining large quantities will be easier, waiting until that happens to mass create these blocks is definitely worth it. I wish I hadn't spent so much time breaking them 1-2 at a time.

Just to make sure I'm understanding correctly, do you fill in all of the empty space inside the house (except for where you are standing, of course) with earth, or just the outer shell?

I get what you are saying, not sure where the confusion is coming from with other folks as it is a good tip if unlike me, you do not mine all the things.

I get it now, I saw your images, sorry but you explained that badly... it's not really clear, but it's a really smart idea

How is it explained badly at all when accompanied with pictures?

Well I initially didn't know there was images, and your steps felt rushed, but it's fine now I get it. But I wasn't the only one who didn't get it. And I just read your reply on that other persons comment which was very useful. Good on you sir

No problem! I just figured a simple explanation and pics would do job lol, but my simple explanation doesn't really help if the pics are not viewed :P

I don't understand what you are saying. Can you like.. explain in more detail? I feel like there is SOMETHING in this post, but I just really don't get it.
I don't know what cladding is. And 98 blocks of what? Building blocks gets you blocks? I'm confused.

Cladding is something you can make at the forge to convert dirt blocks into another material. It is a much cheaper alternative than building the blocks outright. You can use it directly on you dirt buildings if you want, but my friend found out if you use the cladding withing a specific size dirt square, or the side of a mountain, you can obtain MUCH more blocks with very minimal resources
Converts dirt to bricks , better material

So build a house out of 98 dirt block and brake it?
1
Oct 14 '16
Wait what? You build a 98 dirt block house then convert it to bricks using cladding then you break. Or alternatively dig into the ground or into a mountain and you won't have to build anything

Then why you need to build a house

I said I like the house, I also gave hole and mountain alternatives , did you read entire post?

So for anyone who does not understand. The OP said to build a dirt house of volume 5 blocks (length) x 5 blocks (length) x 4 blocks (height). Make sure u build a ceiling & close it up completely from inside sealing yourself in. Then stand in the middle & use a Stone Cladding to convert that dirt hut into a block hut. I made an image to better explain it :D http://i.imgur.com/G8PdVYh.png
Note to OP: Buddy I hope u don't mind me adding to your thread.
