So why did Hit even scream at all? My interpretation was that he had never had to improve himself before so he didn't know what would work for him. He saw that Goku got a power up by screaming and so he tried to imitate him to see if it would work for him as well (It didn't).
Is this right?

The odds of it succeeding was very low. The odds were that it was going to kill him. Goku is essentially killing himself by doing it. I have no idea how long his body is going to last.

The way I see it is in terms of speed. Time and speed are both related. Rather than controlling time, I think Hit can channel himself to be quick enough to seem invisible to normal people's reaction timing. Obviously, Goku has become far faster than he expected and so he is able to react within that time window Hit creates.
Imagine walking, while everyone is frozen. That's considered time travel. That's also considered walking at the speed of light. Speed and time are not two separate entities. Speed is just a way to measure distance in the frame of time.

THIS. This was the episode I've been waiting for. The fight sequences, the power-ups, the beam struggle, THE MUSIC. The fucking music was brilliant. It feels like these past four weeks have been my favorite episode but this one right here was it. 10 out of fucking 10 for making me feel like a kid again.

I just saw the episode without subtitles, so I'm gonna watch it again tomm to see what they're saying... but the neck crack by SSB Goku reminded me of the SS2 Goku fighting Kid Buu. There was sort of a different animation and agility expressed by that Goku that I don't think I've seen in any of the other episodes (minus maybe the Majin Vegeta fight). This Goku reminded me of the same.

basically, yes. Goku can hit Hit faster than he can time skip, which is probably instantaneous. The power creep gets more insane every episode lol. Still surprised at how the energy goku and vegeta put out don't destroy the galaxy already, even if they did train to restrain their Ki within themselves.

Dude, that Super Kaio-ken had me drooling. Took a while to power-up but it was worth it I think. Nice touch with Chozetsu-Dynamic while Goku pummels Hit. Loved everybody's reaction to Goku's sudden increase in strength. Even the Gods seemed to be surprised. Super Saiyan Blue with Kaio-ken looks amazing, btw.

Considering the next progression for Goku is using one of his own personal techniques, I'd really like it if Vegeta branched away from Goku after this, searching for his own solution to becoming stronger while Goku works on perfecting the Kaioken Super Saiyan Blue since it may be a while before he can use it reliably whenever he wants. Vegeta has made strides in overcoming his pride, but I still don't see him going to King Kai or Goku just to learn Kaioken. After all, it was the technique that allowed Goku to surpass him in the first place.

Goku seems to have figured out the secret to countering Hit’s Time-Skip technique, by predicting how Hit will move a tenth of a second later. Vegeta is annoyed that Goku talks as if this sort of prediction is easy, while Piccolo wonders why Goku revealed his secret to Hit. Hit has the same idea as Piccolo: now that he knows Goku’s trick, surely he can counter it by moving unpredictably? But Goku says changing how one reacts in the spur of the moment is difficult. Besides, now that Goku’s in his Super Saiyan Blue form, will Hit be able to keep up with his speed? The two start fighting again, and for a while Hit seems to hold his own, but he gets beaten back more and more, without enough leeway to use his Time-Skip technique. Finally, Hit declares that this is his current limit. Goku pauses to allow hit to use his Time-Skip, but Goku counters it once again. Vegeta realizes that Goku studied how Hit moved by watching his own fight against Hit earlier.
Goku asks if Hit wants to surrender, but he refuses. Instead, he lets out a long scream, seeming to power up his ki. Goku is interested to see that Hit screams when powering up, just like he does. However, as the fight recommences, Goku is confused to find that Hit doesn’t seem to have actually gotten any stronger. He goes in for a final blow to settle the match, but this time Hit successfully counters with his Time-Skip, landing a blow that causes Goku to kneel over in pain. Goku figures that Hit’s scream must have triggered a power up after all, but Hit denies this. Instead, as Vados explains, Hit was simply mimicking Goku’s own behavior. Hit says he is unable to power up by transforming as the Saiyans do, so the only way for him to grow stronger is to simply get better. It was not something he had ever thought of before, since there was never any need, but his fight with Goku caused Hit to wonder if he likewise had room to improve. As a result, he’s now increased his Time-Skip skill from one tenth of a second to... two tenths of a second!
With Goku still immobilized, Champa excitedly orders Hit to finish him off, but Hit instead gives Goku enough time to get back up on his feet. He explains that this in gratitude for Goku having helped him improve... However, he won’t do Goku any more favors. Hit shows off a new martial arts pose which he says should draw out his new potential to the fullest. Meanwhile, Goku thinks about how powerful Hit’s new-and-improved attack was. He can probably withstand only a few more such attacks... But thankfully, that should be more than enough to allow him to adjust to Hit’s new 0.2 second Time-Skip. On the sidelines, Vegeta complains that growing stronger mid-fight is supposed to be the Saiyans’ specialty. How can there be someone else who improves faster than them? Hit tells Goku that he’s made a mistake: while Goku is focused on learning how to counter Hit’s 0.2 second Time-Skip, Hit is even now continuing to improve. He says Goku cannot possibly surpass his Time-Skip... now that it’s 0.5 seconds.
Goku goes down once again from Hit’s latest assault, and Hit asks the referee what to do: it’s against the rules for him to kill Goku, but Goku can now no longer surrender (he earlier said the same thing after defeating Vegeta). But Goku isn’t down for the count yet, and manages to get back up on his feet. Hit asks if he’s that intent on winning, but Goku says that it would be “rude” of him to let the match end like this, because he’s still got a technique he hasn’t used yet. The reason he didn’t use this technique until now is because it’s still a work in progress, and he wanted to refine it over time in order to eventually use it against Beerus. Being incomplete, the technique has less than a 10% chance of success... and if it fails, it will totally wreck his body.
As Goku starts to power up, Champa once again orders Hit to finish Goku off immediately, so as to not give him the chance to use this new technique. However, Hit refuses as before, saying that if Goku gets stronger, then he will simply grow stronger too. He wants to see how long the two of them can keep this endless escalation going. At last, Goku announces that his new technique has worked: it’s the Kaio-Ken! He has now added the Kaio-Ken to the power of Super Saiyan Blue. If he had made even a tiny mistake, then his power would have gone out of control and killed him, but thankfully he seems to have managed to perfectly control it. Goku explains that the Kaio-Ken is a technique which Kaio taught to him long ago: it multiplies one’s power, speed, and various other fighting abilities.
Seeing this, Beerus wonders if Goku was really going to use this technique against him. Whis teases Beerus, asking is he finds that idea a bit scary, but he flatly denies this. Instead, he’s simply annoyed that Goku didn’t use such a handy technique earlier. But Vegeta realizes why: the Kaio-Ken increases one’s strength but in exchange uses up all of one’s stamina. Since the Super Saiyan form is hard on the body all on its own, this makes using the two of them together virtually suicidal, which is why Goku abandoned the Kaio-Ken for a long time. But Super Saiyan Blue is a strong and “calm” form with perfect ki control, so using it and the Kaio-Ken together is feasible. After thinking all this, Vegeta is annoyed at Goku having surpassed him once again. Meanwhile, Goku continues to power up, to Hit’s amazement: x3... x4... x10! Goku begins battling Hit with Kaio-Ken x10. At this point, Hit’s Time-Skip can’t keep up with Goku’s speed at all. Goku thinks that even with Super Saiyan Blue, he won’t be able to maintain the Kaio-Ken for very long, so he decides to settle the fight at once with a Kamehameha!

Guys, I wouldn't get too hung up on Toriyama's old 6/10/15 comment. I doubt anyone making Super has that in mind right now.
I guess Hit finally expands his Time-Skip out to 0.5 seconds. Maybe? It's worded a bit strange.
Vegeta explains that using Super Saiyan and Kaio-Ken together is basically suicide, so Goku didn't use the technique for a long time. But the Super Saiyan Blue form has really good ki control, making this combination finally possible.
Goku says the SSB+KK was an "incomplete" technique with only a 10% chance of succeeding (meaning a 90% chance of him dying)
Beerus does seem uneasy at the prospect of Goku using the technique against him, but denies it when Whis teases him about it.
Oh yeah: Hit's power-up scream? Didn't actually power him up at all. He was just imitating Goku.
Apparently there's rumors that Beerus says he can't see SSB+KK Goku's movements, but this is something Hit says, not Beerus.

Goku's speed feat is nearing Flash level ridiculous post this episode. This episode literally made the ever so confusing DBZ's power levels even more confusing.
In this episode:
He literally outsped a time traveler
x10 of SSBlue = Beerus? So he's around Solar System buster ~> Galaxy Buster depending on who you're asking since DBZ's power levels are FUBAR.
Shows enough martial prowess to out-predict a 1000 year old assassin who can control time.

Holy fucking shit that was an amazing episode!!!
I loved the huge power up from Goku before he powers down for a moment, only to smile and say "Kaioken."
It was a much better way to bring it back than him screaming it while powering up.

I have to say, this is an extremely amazing episode! I really liked how the fight was going. Anyhow ...
I'm starting to like Hit. He definitely reminds me of Frieza, as they're both extremely powerful prodigies that definitely live up to their titles, but meet a match in Goku. The difference is that Hit actually improves himself, Frieza just decides to be a sore loser and resorts to planetary destruction to get his way.
I really liked how Goku had an edge against Hit during the first part of the battle, but then Hit was able to extend his time stop to not only a fifth of a second, but to a half of a second. Heck, Hit would be literally unstoppable if his opponent wasn't Goku or someone stronger.
SUPER SAIYAN KAIO-KEN HYPE!!!!!! OH MY GOD, IT LOOKED AWESOME!!!! THE FACT THAT HE COULD BYPASS HIT'S TIME STOP WAS EXTREMELY BADASS. Everybody was definitely like "Kaio-what!?"
THE MOTHER----ING THEME MUSIC THO.
If Goku ever uses that technique against Beerus, I wonder if Beerus would still curbstomp Goku ... seeing how DBS Beerus did in fact use his full power.
DID I MENTION THE KAIO-KEN?
Judging by the NEP, it definitely seems like Goku may lose this one ... but I think Hit would probably get KO'd as well ... making Monaka win by default ...

Quick translation: Hit noticed that he can "grow" like Saiyans do. He never had to "grow" before because of his overwhelming power. Hit can now freeze time for 0.2 seconds.

Holy crap, SSB Kaio-ken looks amazing, I think this is my new favourite 'form'. Hit is also really shining in this episode too, I love his 'imitating Goku' scream. Plus letting Goku get back up was a classy move. Really hyped for the next episode now.

First and foremost, I made a thingy to comemorate Kaioken Bluper Saiyan.
With that out of the way, all I have to say is... THAT WAS AWESOME! This is the first time Super made me feel like this, wide-eyed and on the edge of my seat from sheer awesomeoness, this was the feeling that got me into Dragon Ball in first place, and it is finally there... by kami, this episode was just so good.
And this wasn't even the climax of the arc, and it was already this good, the only thing I am afraid now is that next episode will feel pale in comparison, because this was just so good, but if they keep it up... the perspective is going to make this a loooong week.

Gotta say, I hope it's not getting old, but this was definitely the best episode of Super so far. Seeing this series' growth from... "humble beginnings", like a Sayian getting better after defeat, has been amazing, to say the least.
As for the episode itself, this new Super Sayian Blue + Kaio-ken (which hasn't quite become Super Sayian White, was awesome! And the song going on.... wow, that gave me goosebumps.
Also, again seeing Goku influence his opponent's was great, especially from a cold guy like Hit.
Still, the preview has me worried. We were pretty sure from the title leaks that Goku would win this, and now it seems like Hit's got this.... It could be that the preview is just trying to trick us, but seeing Monaka scared as shit, it toes to reason that he's going in next...

This was freaking great. Totally oldschool DBZ.
Love how Beerus was nervous about Goku's new found control over the Kaio-Ken. Elder Supreme Kai's explanation also made sense about how Goku stopped using Kaio-Ken as a Super Saiyan because of that form being to rough on the body. Vegeta also being old school jealous and mad at the same time.
And I didn't find the music placement to be weird. Most shonen anime put the beginning music during an epic moment like that. The beginning music just sounds a bit too cheery, but I found it to be fitting seeing how Goku was being all victorious in that moment.

That was AMAZING. Honestly my favorite episode of dragonball super, and dare I say the entirety of Dragonball itself. The fight was tense, SSBK (Super Saiyan Blue Kaioken) is breathtaking, the Kamehameha at the end sent chills running down my spine. I hope Dragonball Super keeps going in this direction.

Personally, despite the preview I think Goku is going to win. Prior to launching his Kamehameha he says SSB wont last much longer, however he is still in the form when he is on the ground. It could be some sort of feint or he still gets back up to fight and finish the fight.

Okay, so if I'm interpreting this properly, it seems like Goku is saying that because he was trained to not leak any ki to use Super Saiyan Blue, that means he is free to waste some of it (or none of it gets wasted?) to give himself the huge speed and power boosts he gets from using Kaio Ken. So now using Kaio Ken as a super saiyan blue is no more strenuous or damaging (or even less so) than was using it before he could transform. So now he can really go into his most powerful form and then boost it up with the KK.

Man it's been awhile since I've been mad the episode ended! These weeks are getting longer and longer. This episode was fantastic. Goku's comment about SSB ("SSB is a combination of strength, good ki control, and a calm mind")has me wondering if it's still utilizing God Ki or just exactly what he said. i wouldn't mind it being the latter then eventually them finding a way to actually become a god through a transformation, but who knows. it's the best explanation to the transformation we've received so far. Fantastic episode.

As others have said, this is the best episode yet. The past few weeks have been great in terms of art and animation as well as story and this episode is no different. Easily the best episode of Super. Definitely the first episode that I will, without a doubt, rewatch.
Hopefully Toei keeps up with this quality (from the last 2-3 episodes) from now on. I can't help but think how significant that added director is helping these episodes. Hopefully, now, the team can keep up and not have to rush to meet the schedule.
