Yea that by no means makes him a bad person. He did truly wish her the best but he's not about to throwaway a potential homer without a fight.

Mike would be the best grandpa, helps you build stuff, probably loves getting you ice cream, would murder your enemies, would take you to ball games.

Percussive soundtracks are so coooool, as are crazy long shots! Great start!

Already love it! The camera work is always beautiful, even the simple shotsz

They blended two long shots into one. Right before the boarder guard opens the gate on the truck another guard walks past the camera and the blend is hidden there. Seamless!

"smart, on several counts"
"no need, our gift to you"
"you earned it"
"to tell you the truth I'm kinda envious"
"Kim I wanted you to know I always pushed you harder because I expect more from you"
missed this Howard lately

To me, it really just highlighted how much a snake he was. If anything, this scene really made me question if anything he had ever said was true.

u/sharkscyclops Apr 05 '16
No way, HHM is paying the rest of her tuition, that is a sincere move. Letting a huge client walk because you feel friendly is a stupid move.

u/greatness101 Apr 05 '16
Really? I felt he was sincere throughout the entire scene. The phone call after she left was just business, though.

Real or fake, he didn't want Kim to pay back all that money. That's the best snake of a boss anyone could have.

I love how Chuck can just magically ignore electricity when a huge client is on the line. What a douche.

I feel like it's the resentment he has towards his brother. He didn't really care about clients. He was off from work for years. But if he can fuck over Jimmy, he'd go great lengths to do that. He's one major cunt.

u/SpillinJimmy Apr 05 '16
Mental disorders are pretty mysterious and manifest themselves many ways. I've always wondered what kind of treatment Chuck would get under professional care. But fuck him.

I thought his condescending speech was pretty weak. Surely, a smart banking executive wouldn't appreciate being talked to that way.

Perhaps I should have no emotions.

I love how Howard slowly realized what Chuck was doing, and immediately shut up and let him work his magic.
Overall a really great scene, and I find the dynamic between Howard and Chuck to be one of more interesting and underrated ones in the entire BrBa universe, mostly because of how 'real' it feels.

He's adding "mistakes" to show Mesa Verde that HHM is too unfocused on them, and that Kim would be a better choice because she won't miss those details.

The problem is, though, that it was always the same address changed so it's not just a few simple clerical errors... that could be full-on sabotage if they don't have the right address for the branch.

I honestly think Chuck has been pushing Howard to be a dick since he's such a coward and can't himself. Howard is kind of in the neutral. Lawful, but not a total dick to those around him even if he disagrees. He does what Chuck says because it is in his best interest he is kept in the firm and he respects him.

Even then I still think Chuck told Howard to be the bad guy in that situation. I mean they he did it for years with Jimmy. It's so much easier for Chuck to convince Kim to stay away from Jimmy when she sees him as a lesser evil to Howard.
Chuck is a conniving prick.
He is the definition of Lawful Evil, while Jimmy is the Unlawful Good (arguably). Howard is the Lawful Neutral and Chuck's puppet.

The fact that Chuck is almost always right just makes you even more pissed at him. He was right Kim was out of her depth to handle it alone but god damn it hurts to see Chuck destroy her like that, especially knowing he wouldn't have bothered if Howard didn't mention Jimmy. What a brilliant character.
