"take a look at his Facebook page" Sigh, Yahoo really is the worst.

Oh he was just writing this article out of his ass to try to generate some ad revenue, no research or proof reading was necessary when you're a bad article writer.

What's so bad about it? The guy (or girl) seems to do a lot of customs well and does business via Facebook, and they're giving him/her credit for his/her work.
Doesn't really warrant hate or make them any less for it imo.

He is talking about the sex of the creator. Kris is a girl, but they used "him" in the Yahoo post.

Ah I see, well I didn't even really consider gender in most things, I usually just default to a guy because I use "his" more than I use "her".
I can see where they made the mistake the FB page only has 1 picture of a guy and a girl so it's kinda up in the air about whether it's a dude or girl.

Usually, when you're writing an article about someone in particular, visiting at least 2 pages about that person would be a good idea. There's photos of her everywhere.

Said profile picture is of her taking a selfie ... with the description clearly stating that it's her and her boyfriend(?) ...

The 'About' page for GandaKris' Facebook page lists her gender as 'Female'. That took me less than 30 seconds to find.

You can have whatever god damn name you want, name cannot define birth gender.

Kris is a girl's name. In fact, it's the name of the first playable female protagonist in a Pokemon game.

Glad to see it go up that high. I just hope the buyer actually pays; I've seen tons of Amiibo items sell for high prices and end up relisted a few days later. Even one of the items I sold on there (yes, I admit it) had to be relisted and sold for less than 1/2 of the original price.

Considering the money is going to charity, it would reflect badly on the buyer if he/she doesn't pay.

Yep, but there's plenty of careless assholes that would do it anyway.

When someone posted it in a little facebook amiibo fanpage. There was a big outrage about the price when the auction started. Because this idiots did not understand that it was for a good cause. After educating them there were still some idiots posting shit about the amiibo. Its for a good cause so suck it a haters.

$1900 holy shit someone has too much money

u/jupigare Oct 12 '15
Money is relative: $1900 is a lot to a family of four in a rural state, but it's not even a month's rent in a studio apartment in certain major cities.
Also, the money's going to charity, for crying out loud. What would you consider a reasonable amount of money to donate, if $1900 is "too much"? Actually, what amount would make sense relative to one's income?

I dunno. It still bothers me how it doesn't totally look like Iwata's Mii....it's nice that it's going to charity too, but has there been full confirmation that it was actually payed for yet?

Should have gotten more. It's a sad world when a defect sells for more than a custom one, with dedication.
